Chapter 379: Mo Qingchen Wanted to Cry

Their friendship had begun once again and it seemed a lot stronger than in the university days.

Especially because Yize had reconciled with her sexual preferences and found out why she did the things she did in the past. Good for her.

There was a knock on the door and Qian Meng looked at it and found Qing Yuan waiting for her.

"Is he waiting?" Qian Meng asked.

"Yup. Brother-in-law looks like he is about to faint," Qing Yuan informed with a chuckle. "Are you done?"

Qian Meng nodded.

"Let's go then!"

The wedding had no best men and bridesmaids. It just had a rustic location at the back of the cabins. The owners had already prepared for the event. With chairs strewn on both sides.

Mo Qingchen stood in this crisp white shirt and burgundy pants, the suspenders still on even though he had taken off his coat in his nervousness.

He fiddled with his tie as he waited for Qian Meng to appear.

Mo Xiao Chen was the officiator. Why? Because he insisted. He had gotten a license online when he was bored and thought this was the best time to put it to use.

"Qingchen, what if I mess up what I am supposed to say?" he whispered to the already nervous groom.

Qingchen whipped his head to the side to look at his younger brother. "Please tell me you are kidding," he moaned.

Xiao Chen smiled apologetically. "I wrote down what I want to say on my palm already. If I forget, I'll just read off it," he responded.

"Don't be like your usual self. You sound like a zombie when you read out loud." Qingchen had suffered many evenings as he listened to Xiao Chen try to memorize the texts for his tests. His younger brother showed no emotions when he read off a paper. "Also, couldn't you just write the prompts on a piece of paper? Are you still preparing to cheat in your university examination?"

Qingchen frowned.

"That was one time!" Xiao Chen protested. "You solved that without our parents getting involved. You can't be petty and bring that up now," he whispered. "I don't want the cameras to pick up that I forgot what I am supposed to say." This was the information that made Qingchen roll his eyes.

It was a habit he had picked up from his dear wife.

"She's here!" Qingchen said finally. Even though his voice was low, everyone seemed to hear it. They turned to look at the bride. She had a small smirk on her lips as she held on to Qing Yuan's hand.

Her younger brother boyishly smiled. It seemed that he had a skip in his step as he walked his sister down the aisle.

Mo Qingchen sucked in a deep breath as he looked at her. She had been right. He was going to pass out due to a lack of oxygen. He had always felt disgusted by people who cried at weddings, but he wanted to cry a little, too.

She really did look like the goddess she was. In this get-up, everyone else could see what he saw in her.

Her hair was down, a few strands over her shoulder while the rest moved as she walked towards him. Something shimmered off her chest and he saw the brooch his mother fondly wore on many occasions on her. It brought a small smile to his lips.

The dress was classic. And even though he saw some traces of makeup on her face, she looked exactly like she did at home.

He sighed as she stood a meter away from him.

Qian Meng let go off Qing Yuan's hand.

"Sis, your designer bag awaits," he said in a low voice. He didn't need to hand over his sister to Mo Qingchen. He knew the power she held in that petite body of hers. She was capable of standing beside Mo Qingchen without having someone pass her on. She could stand beside him as an equal and offer her hand in comradery.

"Your necktie looks good," Qian Meng said the second she stepped towards him and turned to look at him directly.

Confusion swam in his eyes before realization dawned. He smirked at her and then reached out to take her hand.

When the ceremony began, Xiao Chen didn't need to read off the prompts in his hand. He spoke effortlessly.

"Good morning, everyone!" he chimed.

"There is no better place to celebrate the love and commitment that Qian Meng and Mo Qingchen have than this very place. You might be wondering why they chose a secluded spot surrounded by lakes and mountains. The suspicion I have is that they wanted Friday and Saturday and Sunday to happen. They wanted all of you here with them."

"Many of us have met for the first time, yet the bond as a family seems to have connected us instantly. This is the kind of contagious love Qian Meng exudes. My brother, who has always disliked companionship, has come to love her world… her people and now… his people."

"The love they share is not bound by religion or tradition. Therefore, this ceremony, too, will not be bound by it. The bride and groom have prepared for the celebration a reflection on what it is they love about each other. I am sure this was the easiest part of planning the wedding."

"Groom, why don't you go first?" Mo Xiao Chen urged.

Qingchen nodded and looked to the opening where the others were seated. His friend hastily stood up and came over and handed something to Mo Qingchen.

Qian Meng saw the brown notebook that Qingchen often wrote in and realized that it was his journal.

Mo Qingchen was going to read off his journal. She sucked in a deep breath. Her heart thudded so loudly that she was sure everyone else could hear it.

But she didn't know if she wanted the others to hear what he had written about her. But she also wanted to know it for herself.
