Chapter 88: Blood-colored Forbidden City (V)

As time went on, only a few flashlights were left on the bloodstained ground in the dark corridor. Only the faint sound of water could be heard in the silence, and it was unknown what creatures were moving around in the sewage containing countless dead bodies in the dark.

Ethan felt very tired, and the tentacles behind him seemed to weigh down on him heavily. He felt as though he hadnt slept for three days and nights. His eyelids seemed to be made of lead, constantly shutting. He told himself that he couldnt sleep and bit his tongue hard, and the pain finally cleared his mind.

He began to groan in great pain, as though he had gotten appendicitis. At the same time, the tentacles spreading from his neck to his shoulders and entire back began to slowly crawl back under his pale skin. It was a strange and illogical scene. No one could explain how so many huge thorny tentacles were able to squeeze into a body that was thin, even for a male Beta. The black lines on his face also began to recede, and his irises gradually reverted to their original shape.

Ethans reason returned, and for a moment, the wanton killing seemed distant like a nightmare. However, he clearly remembered what happened. He remembered how he manipulated those disgusting and powerful black tentacles to devour flesh and blood of the nonhumans and guards and how he watched the nonhuman named John plead at his feet. Then, he remembered how he crushed his head and poured a strange thing into the throat of the blond Alpha.

He killed hundreds of people, consciously, using the most brutal and terrifying means. He absorbed them with his tentacles, drank their blood, and laughed at their cries.

Ethan was a little afraid, not of anything in his surroundings but of himself. He was afraid of how he was so calm at this time. He didnt feel much regret, and he even felt a little relieved, just like he had thrown off a burden.

Theonile was right. This mutation happened not only in his body but also in his soul.

Hewhat terrible thing would he become?

Ethan suddenly felt a little cold. The back of his clothes had been completely torn apart, and at the moment, his clothes were not doing much to keep out the cold. Hugging his own body for warmth, he slowly stood up and walked to Samuel, who was still holding Schneiders body as he sat under the two hemp ropes tied into nooses.

Ethan looked at Schneiders opened eyes. They had always been clear and firm, but now, they were covered with the grayness of death. His lips were slightly open as though he wanted to say something. Ethan felt that the situation was surreal. It was like a thick layer of cotton was stuffed in his brain, and he couldnt comprehend what he was seeing.

Why didnt he save Schneider? It was clear he had already mutated. It was clear he had killed so many people. So why couldnt he have saved him? Why didnt he notice that Alpha? Why did he focus on that blond guard? If he had been more careful

Ethan bowed his head, and the inexplicable feeling of guilt caused bitterness to surface in his throat. He didnt know how to face Samuels gaze.

However, he knew they didnt have much time.

Samuel had an empty expression, his eyes were dry, and he seemed to have lost his soul, like a statue. He had remained in that position for such a long time and didnt respond when Ethan approached.

Ethan put his hand carefully on Samuels shoulder. Wecant stay here long

I dont want to leave him. Samuels voice was hoarse, tired, and empty.

Ethan looked anxiously at Schneiders motionless body. The queen worm has said that it was only after he died that the eggs in his body would hatch. If Schneider really had the giant worms egg in his body, then it could come out of Schneider at any time.

He didnt want Samuel to be even more stimulated.

Therefore Ethan stood up, picked up a laser gun from the ground, and carried it behind Samuel, who was still in a dazed state. He copied how the guards usually knock people unconscious and slammed it against the back of the Omegas neck. It was probably because Samuel had experienced too much chaos, so with the added stimulation, Samuel had reached his limit. Therefore, although Ethans strength was inadequate, he managed to knock him out. He held onto Samuels fallen body and used the strength of nine oxen and two tigers to pull him aside.

He was sweating and panting, and he felt like he was going to faint at any time. However, his sense of reason supported his body and told him that it would all be over if he fell down now.

He didnt know that his desire to live was so strong. He became a monster, but he still wanted to live.

Ethan knelt beside Schneiders body, pursed his lips, and reached for Schneiders clothes. The former chief security officers strong body was full of bruises from someones kicking, which had become darker due to the lack of blood circulation. Ethan spent a lot of energy carefully looking over his bare body but could not see where the worm would come out from. Ethan was a little disgusted with himself. Schneider was already dead, but he still had to defile Schneiders body. Guilt flooded him, causing him to put Scheiders unfolded clothes back on his body. However, his body had begun to stiffen at this time, so Ethan had to waste a lot of energy. When the last button was finally fastened, Ethan collapsed and sat beside him.

Sorry Ethan whispered to Schneider. His nose was a little sour, so he could only rub his nose with his hand and say, Iwasnt able to save you

He and Samuelhadnt been together for very long, right? He had loved Samuel for so long, and in his final moments, he could die in the arms of his beloved, but did he have any remaining regrets that he had left unfulfilled?

Ethan found that he didnt know Schneider at allTheir chief security officer had always been high up. At this moment, looking at the once handsome and resolute face that now looked a little strange due to the loss of his muscles support, Ethan felt his heart smoldering.

Samuelcould he survive such a loss?

He tried to put himself in Samuels shoes. What would he do if it was Tanisiel who was lying here?

At this time, Schneiders body suddenly began to quiver, as though the corpse was shivering due to extreme coldness. Ethan was so scared that he almost jumped off the ground.

Did the corpse reanimate?

Then, Schneiders mouth suddenly opened, so wide that he was about to tear the corners of his mouth open. The scene was eerie. Schneiders eyes were empty, but his mouth grew as big as a black hole. It seemed that his jaw had been dislocated. In the next moment, Ethan almost thought that he would hiss in an unhuman-like manner.

But that was not all.

From his mouth, something that appeared like a long strip about the thickness of a persons forearm was crawling out.

Ethan stared at the pink worm wriggling around under the dim light. Its front end was raised high and protruded out, and it spun around as if looking for something. At that time, the hole at its front end kept opening and closing, as though it was exploring the surrounding environment. Its body had a ring of wrinkles, and it had a layer of translucent and tender skin covering the dense blood vessels

Ethan not only didnt feel repulsed but straightened up in surprise and stepped forward. The front end of the young giant worm immediately faced him, motionless, as though it was observing him. Although, Ethan didnt think it had an eye.

Ethan felt a strange bout of softness emerge in his heart. He slowly extended a finger to the front of the little worm. All of a sudden, the little worm opened his mouth and held his finger, sucking it like a baby nursing. It didnt have any teeth yet. It felt soft and wet, as though he was being sucked by a human child. It sucked for a while before it spat out Ethans fingers. Then, it rubbed its soft body against the back of Ethans hand and even coiled itself around his wrist and forearm, little by little. Ethan didnt stop it and just watched as it finally crawled out of Schneiders mouth, leaving a long transparent trail at the end.

Ethan tilted his head to observe it, and he looked a little fascinated. Soyou are the one who was sent to empty Earth.

The little worm didnt respond to his words and just waved its front end.

Are you male or female? Do you also have sub genders? Ethan reached out and touched the worms thin skin. Suddenly, he said to himself with a smile, Whether you are male or female, Im afraid youre going to die alone.

He wouldnt let anything happen to Samuel. He was the only friend he had left.

Should he kill it? Today, the population on Earth was very small, and only some important Earth Union government departments were still located here. Butafter all, this was the birthplace of galactic civilization, and there were some ordinary citizens living in several relatively large cities.

But if he killed it

Ethan quietly looked at his arm that it was constantly rubbing against, as though he was the mother of the little worm, and within his heart, a plan was devised.

He got up and stepped downwards to the edge of the river, which smelled of blood, before squatting down and pulling the worm off his left arm with his right hand. Ethan watched it curl restlessly in the air due to the loss of support. Then, he placed it into the river and watched it swim in the water, constantly curling and twisting like a huge tapeworm in pork meat.

Ethan said to him, Theres enough food here for you to eat for a while.

The little worm soon disappeared in the midst of the black water. Ethan saw a corpse floating violently not far away before a pink object flickered around its waist.

Ethan grinned and whispered, Theres so much food. Maybe itll grow up soon.

At this point, he smelled something scorching and spicy in the air. Although the origin of the scent was far away from them, it was as clear to Ethan as the scent of Samuels Omega pheromones. He knew immediately that people outside were afraid to come in unprepared, so they wanted to smoke him and Samuel out of these drainpipes.

He quickly turned around, and he didnt know where the strength came from, but he pulled up Samuel, who had fainted and half-dragged him off the platform. Then, he picked up a flashlight from the ground and tied it to his waist, before he put most of Samuels weight on his shoulder and took him into the depths of the pipeline.

He had never been so glad that his previous work had to do with sewers, allowing him to be more familiar with the terrain here than anyone else in the Forbidden City. He had mistakenly broken into an old subway station before, and now, after thinking about it, he felt it was a good place to hide.

After making up his mind, Ethan groped in the dark, following his memories. The pungent smell became more and more intense, so he held his breath most of the time. Samuels heavy body made his shoulder ache, but he had to bear with it.

The wall he remembered in his memories had already been sealed up again. Ethan touched around the wall and finally touched a part of the concrete wall that felt different from its surroundings.

Here it is. Ethan stretched out his foot and tried to kick it, but the wall didnt budge. He thought about whether to use the acid from his tentacles to corrode the wall.

At this moment, Ethans body suddenly froze.

This was because a thought suddenly appeared in his mind, one which did not belong to him.

That thought was akin to the heat emitted from sunshine, and his cold body was instantly warmed up. The silent connection shackling his soul had finally stirred again.

Tanisiels thought was very simple. It was only three words: I am coming.

The author has something to say:

I forgot to explain a detail. Luckily, I have little angels to remind me~
