Chapter 241: Appraisal Lv.3
Chapter 241: Appraisal Lv.3
"Thank you, Miss Aya," Shye said, slightly bowing towards the guild receptionist for registering the quest under his name without questions.
Realizing that the spicy matter ended with the newcomer's victory, the guildsmen started to disperse, returning to their seats while talking about how fierce the new rookie was and how much of a clown Candor became.
With that, they thought the commotion caused by the rookie was over.
However, just a few seconds later, Aya, who just realized what Shye's desired quest was, started a new one.
"R-Ripper Koalas?! S-Sir Crowley…If I may be so presumptuous…Ripper Koalas are extremely dangerous marsupials and they can attack you from anywhere…I recommend looking for party members to watch your back…"
"I truly appreciate your concern, Miss Aya. Nevertheless, there's truly no cause for worry on my behalf. With that said, I shall be departing for the Drokka Advanced Adventurer Zone. Please excuse me." Shye responded politely, offering a slight bow of gratitude to the guild receptionist before exiting through the guild door.
Unbeknownst to him, his simple conversation with Aya before he left stirred yet another ruckus inside the branch headquarters.
"D-Did I hear correctly? Is he actually taking on Ripper Koalas? Alone?"
"This rookie is just too sick in the head! Candor shouldn't have f*cked with such a crazy guy…."
"He's either very confident in his abilities or outright reckless!"
"Hmmph! What an arrogant newcomer...He'll surely return a corpse!"
Well, Shye truly didn't know how strong Ripper Koalas are, however, he was confident in his ability to take down a (C) ranked creature.
Although it would probably be hard, he needed to temper himself through various challenges.
Moreover, he had to reach ruby rank in a single year, otherwise, he would suffer major permanent status setbacks.
Walking across the streets of Balkrow, Shye looked around.
He then sneakily opened the system and accessed the adventurer encyclopedia to check for information regarding Ripper Koalas.
===
Creature Name: Ripper Koala
Creature Rank: C
Description: An agile and powerful marsupial inhabiting diverse eucalypt forests, Ripper Koalas are typically dormant during daylight hours, only to become active at night. Emerging from their towering eucalyptus perches, they venture forth to hunt camping adventurers. While primarily solitary, they may sometimes be encountered in small clusters of two or three individuals.

'Tch…this might be troublesome…' Shye thought, his fairly inexperienced mind churned as he thought of ways to hunt the darned nocturnal creatures.
It would be next to impossible for him to hunt the koalas resting atop the tall blood-eucalyptus trees, hence, he somehow had to hunt one during nighttime.
Only, he lacked experience in nocturnal hunts, and engaging in combat with a marsupial boasting exceptional night vision could pose a significant danger to him.
Swiftly passed three hours of walking, yet, Shye still couldn't think of how to properly hunt one.
He was at his wits' end.
Fortunately, just before he arrived at the Drokka Advanced Adventurer Zone, an idea suddenly popped up in his head.
A crazy one.
Borderline tugging at his moral values.
'Well, it's the plan with the highest probability of working so…I guess I just have to do it.' Shye thought as he arrived at a vast marble lobby—Balkrow and the nearby Fernham City's entrance to the Drokka Advanced Adventurer Zone.
The vibrant scene before him was familiar.
Numerous adventurers of various ranks, ranging from gold to emerald, and diverse classes, grouped up.
All were clad in assorted tiers of equipment as they checked the conditions of their weapons, the availability of consumables in their spatial bags, and the quest requirements as some of them were called to join parties last minute.
As for Shye, he pretended to do the same.
He had come not to farm materials, but solely to fulfill a single quest.
Moreover, he already restocked his potions by a tremendous amount and his weapons were still in fairly good condition, hence, his current actions of pretending to inspect his weapons were actually him already executing his plan.
Using appraisal on each and every adventurer who he suspected was of the gold and platinum rank, Shye tried to remember all of them, unexpectedly making another pleasant breakthrough as he did so.
[Congratulations! Your skill: [Appraisal Lv.2], leveled up to >> [Appraisal Lv.3]!]
'Oh? Finally!' Shye thought, suppressing a smile from emerging on his face. 'Appraisal!'

'Holy crap…I can even see their occupation and skills now?' He mused, utterly excited about the additional details provided by his trusty appraisal skill.
His imagination ran wild, thinking about how he could use the additional information brought about by the skill to his advantage.
'Heh, this is a bit too big of an advantage, no? With this, no bastards and b*tches can hide their trump cards from me! In terms of skills…at least. I should still be wary of trump cards embedded in various items, weapons, and armor though…'
Lost in his own thoughts, Shye was forcefully dragged back to reality as one of the adventurer parties he was keenly observing, composed of gold and platinum-ranked adventurers, left the lobby and entered the zone.
'Whoops, gotta follow…'
Standing up from the spot he was squatting on as he feigned preparation, Shye jogged towards the entrance where the guards temporarily stopped him to check his adventurer license and adventurer badge.
Naturally, Shye took out his credentials swiftly, lest he lose track of the adventurer party.
Unfortunately, the guards had other plans.
"Brother, I know this isn't part of my job but…I recommend you form a party of three or four first before entering. You only have one life…" One of the guards said, concerned about his safety.
Shye understood that the guard was simply concerned about his safety, however, he almost lashed out at them again.
Fortunately, he managed to grab hold of his emotions on time, taking one deep breath to calm his raging heart before responding as politely as he could.
"Thank you for your concern. Nevertheless, my guild has authorized me to undertake this quest solo, and I am confident in my ability to navigate the hazards within the zone," Shye replied, offering the guards a slight bow before retrieving his credentials from their grasp. 'F*ck!, my temper is spiraling out of control... There's definitely something amiss...'
