Chapter 246: Oh, Right, I Have Wings
Chapter 246: Oh, Right, I Have Wings
'What the f*ck! What the f*ck! What the f*ck!!!' Shye inwardly cursed as he ran away from the charging nightmare.
It was evident that the creature would die soon and there was no need to fight it head-on.
Unfortunately for him, things wouldn't be that easy as the other, smaller koala suddenly appeared beside him, swiping its claws horizontally in an attempt to rip him apart.
'Crap, I forgot about this bastard!' he inwardly cursed once more as he narrowly avoided the swipe by jumping thanks to his swift reaction time brought about by his unusually high intelligence as a warrior.
Landing on the smaller koala's arms, Shye used it as a pathway to advance towards the unwounded koala's face, then, he used one of his skills, [Rush Stab Lv.3] to try and inflict damage upon its eyes.
Regrettably, this time, things didn't go his way as this specific koala had a faster reaction time than the larger, almost-dead one.
Without the slightest bit of fear in its eyes, the smaller koala moved its head forward, stopping Shye's attack by courageously biting both greatswords.
Now, Shye not only found himself unable to move forward but also suspended in mid-air.
He was completely exposed for the other koala to shred to pieces.
Alarm bells rang in Shye's head as the nightmarish koala drew nearer from behind.
With how bulged and veined its current muscles were, he was sure that he would end up in the netherworld should he receive a hit.
However, he also couldn't let go of his greatswords as his attributes would drastically decrease if he decided to do so.
Stuck in a dilemma, Shye couldn't help but slightly panic, luckily, mere moments before he decided to let go of his greatswords, he remembered something.
'Oh, right, I have wings…'
*FWOOSH*
With a single powerful flap, Shye not only retrieved both greatswords but also evaded the berserk koala's attack, causing it to strike its own ally's right arm instead.
The smaller koala howled in anguish as its partner's claws dug deep into its flesh.
Satisfied with the unexpected results of a simple dodge, Shye smiled, landing a few meters away from the monstrous creatures.
A few moments later, the wings behind his back slowly dissipated into nothingness, however, Shye wasn't alarmed.
Why?
Because the familiar notification rang right after, pleasantly caressing Shye's eardrums.
[Congratulations on completing the quest: Hunt: Ripper Koala! You've earned 3500 points as a reward!]
The larger Ripper Koala finally crossed over to the afterlife.
Due to this, Shye's confidence skyrocketed as the smaller koala, albeit faster, was slightly weaker in terms of strength compared to the larger one, hence, Shye knew that the remainder of this battle would be easy peasy for him.
Glancing over to where the adventurers were, Shye simply snorted.
They were gone.
Once again, he was left to fend for himself, however, he didn't mind as he now didn't feel a shred of guilt for using them as bait.
Returning his attention to the remaining Ripper Koala, Shye smirked confidently.
'Well then, let's finish things off here…'

As the proud sun reclaimed its rightful spot in the vast blue sky, its warm rays once again washed away the darkness of the night, providing yet another day of life and hope for the lands below.
On a certain frequented path inside the Drokka Advanced Adventurer Zone, an ashen-haired young man walked with a serene smile on his face.
He relished in the feeling of yet another peaceful morning walk as the merry tunes of singing birds echoed from the nearby trees.
The gentle smell of morning dew made its way to his nostrils as he sauntered towards the zone's exit.
Remembering how smoothly he dodged, blocked, and parried the remaining Ripper Koala's attacks as he swiftly counterattacked mere moments after, Shye was satisfied.
'Heh, that quest was easier than I thought.' he mused.
A total of only six and a half days has passed since he registered the quest under his name, hopefully, a lot of guildmates will be present when he returns.
Meanwhile, inside Constantine Consumables' main branch, the manager's summit has been ongoing for eight straight hours.
By this time, most of the managers were done reporting, however, a few, including Drone, were still waiting for their turn.
Usually, the reporting sequence was based on the previous quarter's branch rankings.
Strangely, this time, Saille was somehow scheduled to report right before Drone.
Drone wasn't stupid, he knew that the fat bastard pulled a few strings to arrange things this way.
'Heh, you shot your foot this time…baldy…' He mused as he focused on listening to Saille's report.
Standing from his seat with a proud and confident smile, Saille opened the folder in front of him containing his branch's quarterly report.
He then opened his mouth and started to report each product's sales, masterfully relaying the required information out of him, then, after a good quarter of an hour came Saille's most anticipated part: the membership sales report.
"Now, let's proceed to my branch's membership sales. This quarter, my branch sold a total of 500 bronze memberships, 115 memberships, five gold ones, and...two platinum memberships!" Saille exclaimed proudly.
Two platinum memberships in a single quarter were very impressive, especially for a branch shop that was barely in the top fifty.
Due to this, the executives once again took note of the fatty's name.
Noticing the surrounding managers' envious glances, Saille felt great, slowly turning his head to see his rival's reaction with an arrogant smirk on his face.
Unfortunately, he wasn't able to derive pleasure from Drone's face this time as instead of envy, it was disdain that was written all over.
Inwardly gnashing his teeth in fury, Saille forced himself to calm down, realizing shortly after that his rival seemed to be strangely confident.
However, upon hearing Drone's lackluster sales report compared to his, Saille's confidence returned only to be destroyed once more as Drone reported Balkrow branch's membership sales.
"Proceeding to the membership sales, Balkrow branch was able to sell a total of 420 bronze memberships, 105 silver memberships, three gold ones, zero platinum memberships, and…one diamond membership!" Drone proudly exclaimed, giving Saille a quick disdainful glance shortly after.
As Drone's glorious diamond membership sail assaulted Saille's ears, his heart erupted into utter turmoil.
He wanted to strangle Drone right there and then.
However, they were managers and if he did try to strangle his rival, he would be fined and fired on the spot, hence, albeit wrathful, Saille forced himself to calm down.
'HOW?!! HOW DID THIS BASTARD OBTAIN A DIAMOND MEMBERSHIP?!!!' Saille seethed inwardly, while outwardly pretending to applaud his rival's excellence.
Unfortunately for him, most of the managers present knew about the bad blood between him and Drone, some higher-ranked ones even knew that he pulled a few strings only for him to end up as the loser.
Inevitably, Saille caught glimpses of the other manager's condescending and mocking smiles, further fanning the flames of rage burning in his heart.
'JUST YOU WAIT!! NEXT QUARTER I'LL HUMILIATE YOU!' Saille vowed wrathfully.
Unbeknownst to him, Drone was thinking the same.
'Heh, Saille, Saille, Saille, you're lucky that my branch hadn't finished researching how to recreate the potion Sir Crowley gifted, else you'll probably be crying right now."
