Chapter 43 038 Tornado (Part 4)

Chapter 43 038 Tornado (Part 4)

The CIA group was highly tense, as this secret base was supposed to be activated only if a US-Soviet nuclear war broke out—it was supposed to be unknown to anyone. However, the technological gap was vast, and to the Iridium Star, the United States had no secrets; even the most clandestine matters could be unearthed.

The person in charge began to destroy all sorts of sensitive data in the bunker and called together a heavy contingent of the CIA's forces, preparing to escort themselves out.

At this time, the head of security was also highly anxious, clutching an M4 carbine, his mind unsettled. The bunker had just had its systems updated this year with the CIA's newest and strongest technology. However, what they were facing was extraterrestrial powers they didn't comprehend at all, so it wouldn't be surprising if they had advanced technological capabilities.

The sudden opening of the bunker's main door, though quickly closed by them, still aroused the head of security's suspicions.

"External security is clear, we can evacuate," came the report from an agent outside in their earpiece, soothing the head of security a little, who then nodded to the person in charge.

The person in charge asked, "Is the evacuation route planned out?"

The head of security replied, "All set, we'll transfer directly by land to a secret base established in the western desert of Nevada, Area 51."

The person in charge frowned and said, "Why are there no helicopters?"

The head of security explained, "At this time, land routes might be safer since the aliens might have surveillance over our airspace, and escaping by air could become very difficult."

The person in charge nodded, having no choice but to accept this arrangement.

What they didn't know, however, was that all their conversations were falling into Bai Zhongqi's ears—a Dragonfly Drone in stealth mode was perched not far beneath the table behind them, sending all their conversations to Bai Zhongqi.

Indeed, the bunker was equipped with signal-blocking devices, but the quantum communication primarily used by the Iridium Star people did not pass through the physical world, rendering electromagnetic signal blocking useless.

Over twenty CIA operatives hurriedly evacuated from the bunker, with Han Jiaxue strapped to a stretcher, carried by Jonathan and Claude.

The person in charge, the head of security, and the two agents carrying Han Jiaxue were the last to leave the bunker. Layer upon layer of agents were outside, armed with various weapons on guard. The place was very remote, hardly anyone around. The person in charge reflexively looked up at the sky, saw the clear blue and nothing else, and breathed a little easier.

The vehicles were parked right at the bunker entrance; it seemed this evacuation might go off without a hitch.

Just then, at that moment, ripples like water suddenly floated in the sky about two hundred meters above the ground, and a portal-like split appeared, from which a man in heavy black armor leaped out.

"Fuck! We have company!" the head of security shouted, alerting his agents to stay sharp. He raised his gun and began firing at the armored figure in free fall from the sky.

From such a distance, and firing upwards, even the carbines and assault rifles used by the security supervisors and special agents had trouble hitting the mark. And the bullets that were about to luckily strike the black-armored brute incredibly veered off course just as they were about to make contact, grazing past him instead.

The sergeant major looked disdainfully at the group of United States special agents on the ground. This wasn't his first time fighting in the Tiberius Powered Individual Armor, one of the most powerful and likewise expensive powered armors currently in use by the Iridium Star United Empire Universe Army. Those who wore Tiberius into battle were among the strongest warriors of Iridium Star.

The Tiberius Armor might not possess its very own Shield System like the extravagantly built Tyrant I individual armor, but it did have a very clever active Defense System. Its principle was to use an electromagnetic repulsive force field to push all approaching threats outward.

The Empire's Shields also had this effect, but they came with an indestructible defense of their own, something the electromagnetic repulsion active Defense System did not have. However, the thick physical armor of the Tiberius itself was enough to withstand attacks from various heavy weapons.

And by heavy weapons, we're not talking about the heavy weapons of Earthlings, but those on the interstellar battlefield.

The sergeant major, standing at two meters fourteen, was named Wang Dong, hailing from an Imperial Administrative Star known as Paradise Star. Born with a natural ability for combat, as a child in the then-turbulent streets of Paradise Star, Wang Dong was a kind of child overlord.

A chance encounter brought about certain changes in his physique, allowing him to run faster, jump higher, and possess greater strength than all his fellow soldiers when he joined the army. Due to his background, Wang Dong held the Empire's nobility in contempt, which led to strong friction with nobles like Xiao Yu.

Actually, Wang Dong didn't have any special fondness for the newly emerged Chancellor either, but he did agree somewhat with his recent speech. Wang Dong felt that the current Imperial infantry were like pus-filled sacks, hiding inside their heavy conveyances, lacking real courage. Bai Zhongqi's words about "boots on the ground" resonated deeply with him.

The sergeant major's Tiberius Armor vented gases to counteract gravity and added magnetic levitation to the feet, making his landing light and steady. His legs naturally bent more out of reflex than anything else. A confident smile appeared on his face behind the helmet visor the moment his feet touched the ground.

In the instant of landing, the sergeant major called out to his comrades still in midair, "Activate stealth upon landing, avoid the use of heavy firepower, securing the target's safety is the top priority, opt for high-accuracy smart munitions, medics be ready with your medical kits to attend to any potentially injured rescue targets!"

Liquid-like ripples moved over the sergeant major's body, and then he vanished from the line of sight of the group of American special agents. More and more Orbital Paratroopers landed and also activated their stealth mode, turning into a terrifying host of ghosts roaming on the ground.

The security supervisor's eyes bulged at the sight, and the hair on his body stood on end as he shouted, "Fuck! Fuck! Shoot, shoot, they are right in front of us!"

Bai Zhongqi, watching the scene from the landing craft, was also touched by the sergeant major's excellent grasp of the battlefield.

"These guys, they're like iron-blooded warriors," Bai Zhongqi said with laughter.

In a moment of desperation, the person in charge pulled out a pistol, aimed it at Han Jiaxue, who was on a stretcher, and shouted, "Don't move, or I'll kill her!"

But the moment his words were spoken, he dropped to the ground, a hole the size of a fist opened in the center of his forehead.

The sergeant major had already approached them, his right hand swiftly drawing the High-Frequency Blade, swiftly decapitating Claude, who was still in shock. His left arm grabbed the unconscious Han Jiaxue, then with a mighty leap, he jumped seven or eight meters away.

In the instant he jumped away, gunshots rang out, and all the American special agents were turned into mincemeat by particle beams and electromagnetic smart munitions.
