Chapter 798 Tense

Chapter 798  Tense

Nyssa had come here expecting to receive at least some pushback. She had some understanding of Sylas' character and knew him to be someone who was smart… but he had also displayed some reckless tendencies.

It was just that in Nyssa's eyes, she had always seen this reckless disregard in some eyes as calculated risks. Although he had ended up losing the bet in the end, it had been a close shave…

Sort of.

"My mother and father have quite some mutual respect for one another, and later in their lives, that built into love. I hope that we might have the same thing one day, but I will spare you the love-sick fool act. Though, I will tell you now that out in public, this is exactly the type of woman I will be for you.

"Unfortunately, due to the system restrictions on Summoning Worlds, we cannot get officially married just yet. There are also many variables still involved, so I also cannot give you my body either—I am a woman who only takes the risks I need to. As much as I desire you…" her gaze flickered to Sylas' lips and then his chest, refraining from going any further below before meeting his gaze once more. "… I will restrain myself."

Her fragrance wafted into Sylas' nose. An assortment of flowery, floral scents assaulted him, giving the elegant woman an oddly wild sort of smell.

Sometimes he smelled hints of rain and grass, but at other times delicate, yet vivid imagery of lilac and lavender would flash in his mind.

"If you so desire it, there are plenty of Florineth women I can give you in the meantime to satiate your lust. You must have run into this wall several times already considering the speed of your evolution…."

Nyssa let her words drag as she practically whispered into Sylas' ears, her breasts having long since begun pressing into his arm. She had no cleavage to show whatsoever, still wearing her turtle-necking, sleeveless white dress. But that hardly changed the softness.

When she saw that Sylas didn't have any particular reaction to her suggestion, her satisfaction only grew deeper.

After all, Florineth weren't just schemers… they were also notoriously jealous and territorial. If Sylas wanted to indulge, she would allow it. But she would certainly also kill them once he left.

Who had the right to taste such a man outside of herself?

Such a specimen was hers and hers alone.

Nyssa stood, grabbing onto Sylas' hand and leading him to the bathroom. She stripped down and helped him to bathe. Then, she picked out a nice set of clothes for him.

Not long later, she tousled the thick, heavy curls of his mane-like hair and smoothed out the robes he wore.

"Come. This fiancée of yours will take you shopping. I know that you must return to your world soon, I can see through some of your anxiousness. But my hubby has missed out on 10 billion Hero Points. I can't possibly let you leave so empty handed, right?"

Nyssa had already switched over, her elegant temperament giving way to a lovesick girl.

She had swapped over from her white dress to a flowing gown. She looked every bit the part of girl next door, a cute little ribbon tying her long, white hair back and another doing the same for her waist.

What happened next was a surprise even to Sylas. Nyssa really did seem like an endless well of money, and she seemed intent on ensuring that he bought everything he needed.

She didn't want him to fail the Summoning was her official reasoning. And though Sylas was still a bit skeptical of everything this woman said, this reasoning also made perfect sense.

If he died in the final trials of the Summoning… wouldn't all of her investment be for naught?

The number of gazes Sylas and Nyssa gained weren't few. Some were weird, some were curious, but a great majority of them were saturated with disdain.

It seemed that even in the wider universe, a man being at the whims of his woman's wallet was shameful no matter what.

But Sylas was completely and utterly indifferent to it all.

Instead, he took his time to listen, and he accepted the gifts he was given without hesitation. Although he wasn't able to buy the Aether Treasure he needed, Nyssa actually ended up spending more than 10 billion Hero Points on Sylas.

And that was after Sylas' discounts were taken into account, making the value of what Sylas was taking home beyond 50 billion Hero Points.

In this time, Sylas finally learned of what happened to Lorien. He had been partially correct, but it seemed that due to Nyssa's sudden appearance, Lorien's plan went a bit awry.

Of course, this was just Sylas piecing together what he could hear from some conversations and what he got out of the slippery-tongued Nyssa—who seemed to want to use every bit he asked about to squeeze out more information about Earth—but if he was correct, Lorien failed to pin the crime on him like she expected and ended up vanishing into the ether.

No one knew where she was and now there were tales of the Mist Race being heavily suppressed because of her disappearance with the Ancient Aether Treasure… Some said that they likely wouldn't last very long at all.

The Thryskai couldn't target them directly just yet due to the optics of it all, but it was only a matter of time before they well and truly collapsed.

It was after a day of shopping that Nyssa finally returned Sylas to a platform. Despite the crowd, she stood to the very tips of her toes and gave him a shy peck on the lips. One would have thought by how much she was blushing she had practically stripped herself naked.

"Be safe, hubby. I'll be waiting patiently to see you again."

As Nyssa was about to send Sylas away, her gaze flashed as though she sensed something. It was only for a moment, and she quickly returned to her bubbly, love-struck self, but Sylas sensed it enough to look up and find Ulrik slowly walking toward them with a certain cast member of the Petals of the Seeing Thorn following after him—Voxena.

Ulrik didn't seem to be in a hurry to rush his pace. His slow gait was a testament to his power…

Who would dare to trigger a teleportation when he—a genius of the Thryskai—had yet to make his intentions known?

The atmosphere grew tense.
