Chapter 287: Tattoo Marks
Chapter 287: Tattoo Marks
Other Survivors could somehow learn new Survivor Skills through a process that the others called Repeated Practice. This could be done just with your own experience and with the help of your current Talent.
This was the reason why many Survivors developed skills related to the Talent they possessed.
Unfortunately, for some reason, Shane couldn't do that… Continuous cooking, wood crafting, mining, or even dancing won't allow him to acquire the skills related to those activities. However, once he obtained them, he could at least increase their proficiency with Repeated Practice.
Because of that, he was really interested in Dylan's Workshop, which could allow him to acquire new skills just by adding some tattoo marks.
Currently, he only has one tattoo mark and it was on the back of his left hand. It was the level 20 Mechanical Proficiency Skill that allowed him to trigger his Otherworldly Mechanic Talent a lot easier.
"So you want that Enhanced Sense. That's a good decision." Dylan nodded as he looked at Shane carefully.
Dylan had grey eyes, and he seemed quite tired. His dark, unkempt hair fell across his face, which made Shane aware that this person must be working a lot every day.
He was also wearing a simple coat that wasn't high-grade but enough to keep himself clean.
'Is he trying to get his proficiency to reach the highest level?' Shane mused.
"Right… How much does it normally cost?" Shane asked.
"Mhmm… It depends on what Tattoo you want to have. But it should be at least 80 Zombie Cores because it spends a lot of Spirit Points to make one. Furthermore, unlike the ones that you can purchase in the Reputation Stores, my Tattoo Marks are only temporary. They could only last for 30 days."
"Ahh… I didn't hear about that from Magnus." Shane was surprised.
Stay tuned with mvl
"Is that so? In any case, as long as you use the Skill, you may not need the Tattoo Marks anymore… After all, you have about a 20 percent chance of learning the Skill itself once it disappears. Anyway, that's the reason why my price is cheap. If my Tattoos could permanently give Survivor Skills, it won't be worth 80 Zombie Cores. It would be worth more than that." Dylan explained.
Shane nodded at this since it certainly made a lot of sense.
"Anyway, it's basically permanent for the members of the Ironclad Imperium Clan since they're my priority. If you're a member, the fee will only be 5 Zombie Cores… The ones who were paying 80 Zombie Cores and above were only those who weren't part of the Clan." Dylan explained…
This was certainly a nice recruitment strategy. He didn't think that they were ripping off other people at all. This was simply a benefit of having a better Talent and ability to take advantage of what you have. It's not easy to survive in this apocalypse after all.
"That made sense…" Shane nodded.
"Since you're also saving us against the Giant Zombie, you can just come here and visit us so I can place the Tattoo again for free. There's no need for payment. If you're lucky, you may not even have to return as you might just learn the Skill itself." Dylan replied.
Seeing that Shane understood the limitation of his Talent, he gestured towards a series of sketches on the wall, each representing one of the three Tattoo Designs he could create.
As Shane studied them intently, Dylan began to explain the unique abilities granted by each mark.
"Alright, Shane. Let me walk you through the three tattoo designs I offer," Dylan started, his voice steady and with a hint of excitement. It seemed that he was really proud of it.
Dylan pointed to an intricate design of an eye surrounded by swirling patterns.
"This mark grants you heightened senses – sharper vision, keener hearing, and heightened awareness. It allows you to detect dangers before they even approach, giving you a crucial advantage in this world of chaos. It's the Enhanced Senses that you wanted."
Shane nodded after seeing it. The design wasn't pleasing, but he could accept it. Although he already had a Perception Stat and various skills like Danger Sense, he knew that it wasn't just enough. He really needed this one. He even guessed that if he had obtained this Skill, his Perception stat would have increased relatively high.
Moving to the next sketch, Dylan showed a depiction of armor-like patterns covering a fire.
"The Bronze Skin mark enhances your resilience, turning your skin into a protective shield. It reduces the impact of attacks and increases your durability, making you tougher to bring down in a fight. This is actually my tattoo mark that had the lowest duration. It only lasts for 15 days. However, the good thing about this is that I can place two of these tattoo marks at the same time."
"Two of them?" Shane repeated.
"Yes… However, it doesn't mean that the two of them will work at once. The other Bronze Skin mark would only activate if the other were removed." Dylan looked at Shane's reaction before he continued.
"Ahem… It's my Talent's ability to delay the activation of the tattoo mark..." Dylan said with a proud smile.
Shane nodded after hearing this.
This was certainly a great ability, and he couldn't help but feel glad that he had left the Shelter to explore the continent.
Seeing that Shane seemed impressed, Dylan felt satisfied as he continued.
Finally, Dylan showed a design showcasing intricate sword motifs tangled with the wind.
"This mark bestows upon you the art of Sword Mastery. It enhances your combat skills with bladed weapons, granting you precision, speed, and accuracy. With this mark, you can become a formidable warrior on the battlefield. I believe that once you have this mark, you'll obtain the real Skill by more than forty percent if you use it every time.."
Shane listened intently as he started liking all the skills that Dylan could offer.
Enhanced Senses, Bronze Skin, and Sword Mastery…
They were all really nice Skills, but in the end, Shane decided to just go with the Enhanced Senses.
