Chapter 223: Chapter 223 – New Game Plan

After getting a little explanation from Max, after he muted his stream again, Flexy couldn't help but burst into laughter.

"Well, don't mind. Just follow your heart!" The orange-haired streamer claimed and patted Max's shoulder, much to his displeasure. "And… Yeah. Sorry, bud. I will probably stand by Ferin's side in this discussion. But let's not talk about that now and focus on the practice, yeah?"

Max agreed with Flexy as he nodded. There was no point continuing that stuff.

"Let's talk about our practice today, then. I have already analyzed yesterday's video and decided to change the plan and role slightly."

The team gathered by Flexy's words, sitting around a long table in the middle of the bar. Once they gathered, Flexy looked at them seriously before stopping at Max.

"I think leaving Breeze to defend the base is stupid."

That was the first sentence he said, and the others agreed with it.

"Don't get me wrong. I know it's your condition to join the team, but your skills are more useful. When you destroyed two enemy bases yesterday, I just know that we can use a different strategy than the other teams. Our team's skill is higher than average… The professional average.

"In fact, the match yesterday looked pretty easy, but my team usually practiced with similarly skilled players. Of course, I wouldn't say the real professional team would only have that kind of skill, as they have better teamwork, but I believe we have similar skills to those pro gamers."

The other three were surprised when they heard Flexy's words. Max, especially, was surprised. He heard from Atlas that the enemies' MMR was lower than those at the true top. So, when Flexy said that, he didn't know who to believe.

"Are you sure about that, leader?" Atlas asked, seemingly surprised by the information too. "If I remember correctly, your MMR is around 8700, right?"

"Yes, that's right," Flexy confirmed with a nod.

"May I know the current highest MMR? Because… Well, I don't think our enemies from before are any good." The blond-haired man continued.

Listening to him, Flexy grinned.

"The current highest MMR is around 9200, if I remember correctly. It's held by a player called LandLord24, the leader of the MiceMice team that also joined the competition at the end of May. His team is the current favorite to win, as all members are in the top 10 MMR ranking."

"I see…"

Atlas shrugged his shoulders, mostly out of disappointment at his enemies' skill. Still, it was good for the team. They were strong enough to defeat enemies of such caliber easily. The competition looked bright.

The talk continued, Flexy told them the new plan he thought of. In the middle of the conversation, Max mentioned his change of weapon to Flexy.

Hearing the change, the orange-haired streamer smiled. He even urged him to try because it would benefit the new game greatly. Speed was important in this new plan. A sniper rifle was just too heavy for it to work.

And thus… They started their morning practice with the new strategy.

***

The match started, and they were transported to the base on the moon.

The new plan proposed by Flexy was pretty simple.

Once the first wave ended, the trio immediately spread out to find the first wave boss, leaving Flexy to defend the base himself.

Finding the boss was easier than before. Ferin found the boss hiding like a boulder around the East direction of their base.

After reporting it, she went into hiding and waited for the others. Here, the others meant not only her teammates but also other teams.

Usually, the tactic was to kill the wave boss as fast as possible and retreat, getting the extra 100 Annihilation Points. But that wasn't enough for Flexy. He wanted more.

So, the plan changed after he saw his new team's capability.

"Ferin, is there an enemy team yet?"

Arriving first from the north direction while holding a mock P90, Max crouched beside Ferin and asked. He looked at the black boulder in the distance and then the area around it.

The awkwardness between them had been long gone since the match started. They were professional and wouldn't let feelings affect their job.

"They aren't here yet," Ferin said, smiling gently. "Hehe, it might take them another minute to find the boss. We're just too fast."

"You're right," Max didn't deny that. "Let's wait for Atlas too."

It was only 11 minutes since the first wave started, a minute after the boss spawned. The other team might have needed an extra minute or two before they found the first wave boss at the fastest.

After a few seconds, Atlas joined them in their hiding place and observed the situation. There was no movement from the boss or the surroundings for a whole minute.

Ferin became impatient, saying that she might as well solo the boss. Atlas tried to calm her down and asked her to wait a minute more.

At that moment…

"I see movement," Max said, narrowing his eyes to look better from the detached scope he had in hand.

It was an auxiliary item, one of the most useless ones, because it could only allow a player to look farther than usual. But this piece of auxiliary item was important in this game plan.

From the distance, a small dust kicked into the sky, the easiest sign to know that someone or something was moving.

"It's getting close here. From the look of it, it might be a three-people party. The direction they came from is straight across from us." He handed the scope to Atlas.

"So the East," Atlas said, raising his head to look in the direction Max talked about.

Just like him, the blond-haired man also managed to see the dust.

"Let's move according to the plan," Atlas said, returning the scope to Max and turning to Ferin. "It's your turn, Fer. Keep them busy after they engage with the boss. Breeze and I will follow the plan."

"Finally!" Ferin exclaimed excitedly. If she had long ears, they would definitely flap around to show her happiness. "You can count on me!"

Getting her confirmation, Max and Atlas nodded at each other before letting their body slide down the hill they used to hide and run around it while keeping their figures hidden.

Their goal was the direction where the enemy came from. Using a simple logic, it was clear they came from their base. And the rest were just following their trail to find it.

"I never thought he would think of such a risky plan like this." Max grinned from ear to ear as he ran at full speed, "Use the first wave boss as bait and destroy the enemy's base instead. How crazy does that plan sound? Surely no other teams would try it."

"Hahaha, I am pretty surprised too," Atlas responded. The man managed to match Max's running speed, and they were now cruising across the sand dune. "But it might be the best. Our teams are pretty much heavy hitters who play best against other players instead of small monsters. Let's finish it fast."

— Did I see this right?

— Yes, you did. I am pretty surprised that they are running together like this.

— Hey, between both of them, who do you think runs faster?

— Breeze aside, this crazy male called Atlas is amazing. How can he match Breeze in speed? Is he holding back?

— I don't think Breeze is holding back. Holy moly. I thought he was only good in Horizon Online due to the status, but apparently his mechanic is also really great!

— I am surprised. I'd like to watch more Atlas and Ferin moments, but this is also great! ANNIHILATION!

— Kukuku, my right arm has been satisfied. More! BRING MORE SACRIFICES!!

The chat who recognized Atlas voiced many reactions. Max didn't bother to read them as he was concentrating on the game.

Both of them hid behind a rock when three people that they saw from the distance passed them by.

"Lucky! No one found the boss yet!"

"Go go go, let's kill it!"

"We can't leave the base for too long. Use all your grenades to kill the boss!"

A tiny amount of information was gained from listening to them. Before running again, both of them nodded in understanding. They needed to finish this fast. Ferin might only be able to get a minute… Or probably three minutes at best before she was overwhelmed.

And based on their conversation earlier, they seemed to go straight to the boss from their base. Max and Atlas followed the footprints they left behind before finally seeing an outstanding structure that was different from boulders and craters spread on the map.

They didn't hesitate and immediately rushed into it. The watcher noticed their advance and raised his gun. Unfortunately for the man, Atlas had shot first. With precise accuracy, the rifle bullet hit right in the middle of the watcher's head and killed him immediately.

This would alert his teammates. They probably rushed back now, but that would still be too late.

Using the grappling gun, Max climbed the wall and immediately entered the warehouse. He located the main core protected behind a glass layer and destroyed it with a grenade. The explosion brought the base down, crumbling it into gray sand.

[Team OrangeSquash has annihilated Team ChipiChapa.]

[500 Annihilation Points have been rewarded.]

Resting his mock P90 on his shoulder, Max grinned widely.

"Let's get to the next base!"

His comment caused another stir in the chat.

— Barbaric strategy

— OrangeSquash? More like SquashingBase!

— The team name is cute, but the members are just crazy folks!

— Breeze: Too easy!

— I like this team already. Go go go! Defeat them all!
