Chapter 224: Chapter 224 – Mob Train

Chapter 224: Chapter 224 – Mob Train

The rest of the match was history.

Following the fall of the first base, Max and Atlas returned to the base to defend it against the second wave. The three of them could defend against it because it only came from one direction.

Meanwhile, Ferin was out in the wild to find the other's bases using the wave as a guide. It was easy to find a swarm of cockroaches from a distance instead of a single building.

She had around 10 to 15 minutes to work with. As a result, she managed to report the remaining 8 bases to the others.

The second wave's boss gave 300 Annihilation Points. It was still less than destroying a team, so Flexy gave the order to hunt bases before the third wave started.

With Max's speed and courage, they managed to clear the second wave in 5 minutes, just like before. He was already getting used to the space suit and could move more quickly than yesterday. Thus, his speed increased exponentially, around 1.2 times than before.

And with that, he and Atlas decided to split up. Four of the bases had three of their players out to find the boss, while the remaining four decided to defend their bases. Those former ones were their prime targets.

Moving at a fast speed, Max visited the nearest base and killed the watcher. He snuck up when the enemy lowered their guard and destroyed the warehouse.

The second one was a bit tricky, with a crater on one of its sides. However, that allowed Max to use the crater to sneak behind the watcher and kill him easily.

Atlas finished his side a bit later than Max, but that concluded the first four bases. The boss was killed at this point, so they couldn't get an extra 300 Points. However, they had time to finish another two bases after they joined with Ferin.

Following the plan, the three of them returned to the base to defend against the third wave.

— This is not Roach Planet anymore. It's Destroy the Base game! Breeze is on the cockroaches' side! He's just destroying his enemies one by one!

— Roach Planet = X. Player Hunt = V

— Breeze is really playing in a strange way

— But, but… Isn't this plan Flexy's? Breeze has so influenced that guy that he begins to move away from his usual wait-and-see playstyle lol

— Breeze: Heh, you coward. Let me show you how to do it!

Flexy: Sure. Here is the lesson fee!

Once again, Max didn't read the chat. However, his intuition as a streamer told him that the chat was making fun of him, so he spoke.

"I only bring positive influence, alright?"

Both Ferin and Atlas, who had just returned after destroying two bases with him, looked at him strangely. Then they realized that Max was talking to his viewers, and Ferin jumped once again. This time, she didn't make big trouble like before.

"As for me, I bring both!" She exclaimed. "I made many mistakes due to my mouth, hehehe. Sometimes, I couldn't control myself and often made many enemies, both in real life and online. Sorry!" She tucked out her tongue playfully.

Only Atlas knew that she was genuinely sorry. This girl was unable to express herself better than that.

Max didn't think much. When they worked together earlier, he heard about Ferin from Atlas and slightly understood her personality. He was willing to forgive her now as long as she didn't repeat what she did.

Back to the game, the team successfully fended off the third wave. A tenth of the wave was composed of mutated cockroaches with bright wings. They could fly around 5 meters high, which made them a bit of trouble.

The total number of cockroaches was still the same as the previous wave.

In the end, they needed around 9 minutes to fend off the wave and set to the last base they had to destroy. By now, they actually had accumulated enough points to be number one. Flexy even suggested that they should surrender and move on to the next game.

But Max rejected that suggestion strongly.

"Are you a coward, buddy? We're here to annihilate them, not just winning!"

"No, but. Didn't you say that we should win if we play something? We already won. What's the use of continuing it?!"

"That is that. And this is this. It's a different story." Max ended the conversation by imitating Flexy's words so he couldn't refute him, and he took off with Atlas and Ferin.

— Truly a wise word

— Winning the match and winning the fight is different. Breeze wanted to do it thoroughly!

— Thoroughly, eh? I also LOVE to be THOROUGH

— I think what you mean is different from what that other guy suggested

— That is that, and this is this. Same stuff.

— Now you copy their words.

Finding the last two bases was pretty easy. They hadn't completely wiped out the cockroaches yet. Using this chance, the trio of raiders snuck up behind them and shattered their base's main core.

What followed was the tricky part. Once the base crumbled into sand, there was no wall that stopped the remaining cockroaches.

Max looked at what happened in horror. A swarm of crawling and flying cockroaches were now targeting them. In response to that, he shouted loudly.

"RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!"

Disregarding the couple, Max ran at full speed toward the next base. Once again, he realized that these creatures couldn't be looked down upon. They were monsters! Real monsters! Brown monsters!

It needed to be said thrice, at least, to show how scary they were.

Looking back, he saw Ferin and Atlas followed right behind. The cockroaches' attention was fully focused on them.

"Breeze, hear me out." While running, Atlas suddenly spoke and looked at him. "Do you want to see something amusing?"

Amusing. That word usually fit Flexy perfectly and Max would jump into it because it would make his stream interesting. But now wasn't the time to hear that word. Scary and amusing didn't blend together.

"Looking at your disgusted expression, I know you're thinking something bad." The blond-haired man said, "But listen. This will not involve us at all. Rather, we will take down the last base easier. I've done this many times in Horizon Online. This trick is called mob train."

— Mob train. A trick in MMORPG games where they killed players using mobs that they aggroed. It was a despicable trick that many players hated.

— Thank you for the explanation, sir Slowagon

— That's such a nice trick

— Didn't that explain this situation perfectly?

Curiosity took the better of Max, and he read the chat. That was a good decision, as he managed to know what Atlas talked about.

A grin appeared on his face.

"Sorry, I doubted you a little bit earlier because I have a bad feeling about the word amusing. But that sounds fun. Let's get this swarm to their base!" Max roared with a cheery voice.

"Then, let's run a bit slower. We're way faster than the cockroaches. We will lose them at this rate, and they will spread everywhere. We don't want that to happen."

"You're right."

Following Atlas' suggestion, the trio ran slower, matching the cockroaches' speed. The base wasn't too far, and they could see it getting attacked by a horde of cockroaches from far away. It seemed like they hadn't exterminated them yet.

"Let's go at full speed!" Atlas gave out instructions perfectly as if he was used to it. "Ferin, please destroy the main core! Breeze, follow me! We will shoot at the cockroaches behind us in the interval to aggro them."

"Leave it to me, At!"

"Got it."

As Atlas was the person proposing the idea, Max followed his instructions. He tailed just behind the blond-haired and shot the cockroaches behind him every 5 seconds until they reached the base.

"Climb up!"

Atlas said, pointing at the top of the wall.

"On it."

However, Max was prepared for it. His grappling gun had already been shot, and he flew to the top of the wall. Landing on it, he could see Ferin climbing on another side of the wall and the enemies who panicked.

"What is that?!"

"That person is bringing a wave to us!"

"Hold on! Protect the base! Shoot them all!"

The enemies scrambled and began to shoot. Many bullets flew toward Max, but he didn't bother to dodge them. Instead, he spread his arms and embraced the incoming bullets.

"Hahaha! Get rekt!"

Just as he did that, his body was riddled with bullets, knocking him down. That didn't stop the bullet rain. It kept hitting him until his vital sign turned black.

[You are dead!]

A red notification popped on top of his body, with a skull logo beside the word.

— GET REKT!

— This is… not Sparta! This is BREEZE!!!

— Goddamn. Atlas from a crazy couple are indeed crazy. To think he thought of this strategy in Roach Planet

— This only shows Horizon Online's players not to mess with him.

— REMEMBER! You must avoid 2 things in game: First, pissing off Breeze. Second, getting close with Atlas.

— He's a monster among monsters.

At that moment, the horde of cockroaches also arrived. The enemy players lost hope as they saw them closing in. Scary monsters crawled on their bodies, ready to bite them.

Fortunately for them and Max's viewers, Ferin destroyed the main core before the game turned gore and ended the game.

What was left around the base was a girl in a space suit that raised both of her hands, making two peace signs.

"Yay! We won!"
