Chapter 73: Chapter 73 – Your Lucky Day is Over! [2]
In a rather narrow hallway, around 3 meters wide, eight zombies rushed toward Max at once. They had already lost their two comrades from an earlier attack, but they didn't care. All they cared about was meat and meat.
"Come here, rotten flesh!"
Without sensing any fear, as it was in a game, Max slid down under one zombie and stabbed the knife upward. It pierced the zombie's chin, and the tip appeared from the top of its head.
"A…Au…gh."
It was an instant kill. Like his previous world's story, these zombies had a similar weak point. However, this game had a lore for these zombies' weak points.
'The virus is focused on their brain, going toward their nerves. That's what moved those corpses. Destroying the brain means destroying the virus' main component, thus rendering them lifeless forever.'
Swoosh!
Another zombie fell as a victim while trying to grab him. Max's quick reaction allowed him to move recklessly like this. Besides, he could defend himself using his gloves and had an antidote in case he was bitten.
"I have no time to deal with you guys now. The diamonds are waiting for me!"
— The usual Breeze
— Diamonndssss!!! DIAAMOONNNDDSSS!!!
— It's no longer a survival game but a hack-and-slash!
— Die die die die! Get killed and get sucked!
Max had no time to read the chat as four zombies tried to grab him at once, stretching their dirty hands at him. He didn't want to push his luck, so he used his handgun and knife at the same time.
Bang! Bang!
Two shots rang with the flash from the muzzle, sending bullets to the zombies on the left. Almost immediately, Max stabbed the third zombie and pulled the trigger once more.
Bang!
Four zombies were dead at once. It just took him a few seconds to finish them.
'I have used 4 bullets, only 8 left in the chamber.' He thought as he jumped back to distance himself from the remaining 3 zombies. 'It's been a few minutes since I started playing. I need to finish this building soon and build a shelter before I am too exhausted.'
With that, he started to rush forward the remaining zombie. Gun wasn't needed as they were a bit spread from each other, meaning he had space to work on.
However… Just as he passed the stairs leading to the first floor, a giant hand shot forward quickly.
"Shit!"
Having prepared to move since he rushed forward, Max immediately stopped his feet with a stretching sound.
The giant, black hand passed him by a hairbreadth. The palm hit the ground and destroyed it with a loud, booming sound.
Boom!
Debris was sent flying from the pure force of the slap. Max raised his hands in reflex and jumped back to dodge them, getting hit at some place in his body.
"Ugh!" He groaned in pain.
While the pain was reduced considerably from his setting, around 50%, something hurt was still hurt. But that was a sign that he was alive, and he enjoyed it. Not that he was a masochist, but pain was something he couldn't feel for a while.
Due to his unfavorable position from earlier, he rolled on the ground a few times before stopping. A creepy, excited grin adorned his face as he raised his head, looking at the new enemy that made its appearance.
Boom! Boom!
"GRRRR! Hurrrr!"
Loud footsteps rang, causing a small shake in the building. A creepy groan rang louder than the others. All the zombies on the second floor backed away. No, they were trying to run away from the giant that took a step into the hallway.
His feet were small, just a little bigger than a normal one. But his body had swelling all over the place, and his blood vessels popped up, turning his skin dark.
One of his arms, which he used to slap the ground and create a hole in the floor, was bigger than the other one. Its muscle was twitching uncontrollably, supporting his imbalanced body that stood over 2 meters tall.
"Hauurrrr!"
Max felt goosebumps all over his body. This new enemy was… dangerous.
— He meets an Infected! And it's a freaking Rocket!
— To meet a rocket in the first building he entered. I don't know whether Breeze is lucky or unlucky
— 2:21 << countdown of his bet.
— Can he survive? Or can he kill Rocket?!
— Hyahaaa!! Your time ends here, Breeze! Your lucky day is over!
— Rocket's right hand and swelling body are bulletproof. At least it can deflect 9mm or 45mm bullets. Only a rifle with 5.56 or 7.62 above can pierce it!
— That means he can only fight Rocket with his knife, whose durability has decreased from all the fighting he did.
— Thank you, trivia guys. I will simplify it… Cough, Breeze is f*cked.
'This is bad.'
Max also understood that his situation wasn't that good. Dealing against Rocket with only a knife was suicide, especially in a tight space like this.
Because his gun wouldn't even work against Rocket, according to the chat, he put it back in the holster and took the flashlight he bit earlier, holding it backhanded with his left hand.
"I have to admit this is a bad situation for me." He chuckled nervously as he stood up.
Rocket was walking toward him, dragging his body and feet with his giant arm. The loud footsteps from earlier apparently came from him moving his arm.
Even so, his movement was fast. He was even faster than normal zombies, which forced Max to make a decision soon unless he wanted to get killed.
'What should I do?' He looked around the area. Behind him was a sturdy wall, seemingly impossible to climb. His only way out was two doors that stood on his left and right.
But… he didn't know whether those doors were locked or not, as he needed to break some on the third floor earlier to enter the room.
'I can only leave it to my luck!'
In the end, he decided to move toward the door. He lowered his stance and kicked the right door with all his strength, breaching it through.
'It's not locked!' He exclaimed happily as he rolled inside, trying his best to stop by using the knife.
The room was smaller than the office earlier and was dark. There was a locked window on the corner, leading straight outside. But it was covered in a vine, so there would be a need to cut them down first, which would take time.
'I can't escape through it.'
And just when he turned around and looked back to try his luck in the other room, he saw Rocket was already standing in front of the door while breathing heavily. The Infected looked at him in irritation, guarding the entrance with its huge arm.
"Huffff… Hufff…"
This time, it was a real dead end. There was no place to escape to.
"I guess I need to fight it. Your prayers have come true, guys. I might die and need to give a 50 Punch premium account today."
— Hehehe, it feels good to watch Breeze get cornered
— Get rekt!
— Go go, Rocket! Kill Breeze! GET REKT!
At least the chat was enjoying this situation.
