Chapter 104: Two Conclusions

“Well, that is true.” Compass Carburettor nodded, gazing at the projection of the two worlds behind him, “This was also the reason I was kind of hoping to enter a battle of the mind. Since that was the best way to obtain my hand on this treasure before Regriel. And as I had expected, it is indeed a powerful treasure.”

The ability to transfer bodies using Warble almost guaranteed immortality, as long as it wasn’t destroyed. And, no matter the species it was implanted upon, the result would be the birth of a Haggon, the strongest Dungeon Monster with a whopping Darlac limit of 10,000.

So, the moment Regriel got his hands on the Warble, killing him would become stupendously difficult, if not straight-up impossible. He would be able to survive any situation as long as he removed his Warble and allowed one of his companions to run away with it.

It was the ability wielded by the protagonist—a System Host.

“Regriel? You expected it? What are you talking about?” Meharb was confused now, realising that the individual before him wasn’t a helpless victim.

“Hmm…” Compass Carburettor took in a deep breath, saying after a lot of hesitation, “Sys…tem…?”

“System!”

Upon saying it once again, he sighed in relief when nothing happened, realising that this was within his mind. So, nothing would happen if he spoke about it with Meharb, “Actually, I was somewhat expecting to act like a victim so that your father would implant your Warble on me. That way, I was hoping to obtain this power for myself.”

He then sighed, “But, who would have expected him to straight-up ambush us and force it on me. The means were different than my plans, but the result remains the same.”

He then looked at Meharb, bowing once, “I have to face against a formidable enemy. You are by far the most intelligent man I have ever encountered. Please help me!”

“Go ahead, I’m all ears,” Meharb said curiously, condensing a chair for him to be seated upon as he remained in his human form.

“Thank you,” Compass Carburettor nodded with gratitude as he began to talk about his experiences, starting from when he was on Earth. He also condensed numerous System novels and other books that he had read, giving them to Meharb to read.

He noticed that anything related to this battle of the mind relied on one thing, Mental Energy. So, the one with a larger Mental Energy and experience in wielding it would become the winner. And usually, the longer-lived and more experienced one was, the stronger their mind, which in return correlated to their accumulation of Mental Energy.

And, Compass Carburettor had no lack of Mental Energy. After all, there was enough influx at the moment that his Mental Energy Form was barely holding up. So, he used it to condense a library worth of books, containing all the information he had obtained. This way, he also reduced the strain on his Mental Energy Form.

As he listened to his story, Meharb slowly became more and more excited, “I see, Earth is such an interesting world. Their development is different from what we have ventured forth into. I see, microprocessors…incredible. They share some similarities in ideologies to the Darble Circuit in Puppets.”

He then frowned, looking at a certain System novel, “Eh? This is in your world too? This is a rather popular System novel here.”

“As for the contents…” He frowned upon reading it further, “It is basically the same.”

Meharb then looked through other System novels, “This…this, and this too, all of them are the same. I’ve already read them during my youth. I enjoyed them at one point in time too. And this one, ‘My System’s Bullsh*t Tendencies Are Unparalleled’ was super popular in our Great Empire during my childhood.”

“So…this is plagiarism on an intergalactic level?” Compass Carburettor laughed, “They have omnipotent power on a logic-breaking level, and they can’t be bothered to create stories exclusive to each world?”

“If your enemy is a System…” Meharb sighed upon reading through a tremendous volume of books, “There is indeed a lot of uncertainties involved.”

“Yes, this is what I have planned.” Compass Carburettor began to detail everything he had planned to date.

And after hearing through everything, Meharb frowned, “You have indeed thought through things a lot. But, one thing puzzles me.”

“Even though all your gains here are the product of your relentless schemes and training, but I feel like everything has flown in your way without any hiccups.” He said solemnly, “Are you sure there isn’t anything like a Fate or Destiny System still within you?”

“I have thought about it too, but shouldn’t there only be one System within a body? Can two Systems even coexist without devouring each other up?” Compass Carburettor said, “And, if another indeed existed inside me, then it shouldn’t have been possible for the Money-Making System to attempt to devour me in the first place, since the second System would stop it.”

“Right, there is that too.” Meharb nodded, “But in the end, this person called Fourth saved you right at the nick of time, right? Considering how big the System World might be if it’s the home to the millions of Systems out there, what is the chance for a System Slayer to encounter you at the opportune moment?”

“I can offer two conclusions for this,” Meharb said, “The first is that Fourth is the other System that had been within your body and took action on time. And, when you created your Personal Fragment, it might have imbued something within the body part of the Money-Making System within you. And, everything that’s happening now is its plan to harvest from you later.”

“And, what’s the Second conclusion?” Compass Carburettor asked, feeling a chill creep up his spine.

“This is rather straightforward.” Meharb laughed, “Fourth is a System Slayer like it had said. And, it was actually on Earth hunting for any Systems that had arrived. And, when it arrived to hunt you, it noticed that your System was planning to return to the System World and rode the journey through. That’s how it was able to save you at the perfect time.”
