Chapter 2432: Behind Bars
Peach barged into the room only to see the queen's husband stunned, and the queen embarrassed and furious.
“What kind of nonsense are you shouting?!” The Mermaid Queen really wanted to give this girl a good spanking. Just how many times had she already told Peach? This wasn’t some queen’s husband and she absolutely couldn't call him that. And yet the admonishment went in one ear and came out the other!
The Mermaid Queen almost fainted out of anger. Her relationship with this person was already so awkward, and now he had to hear this kind of nickname? What if he ended up misunderstanding and thought that she'd asked her maid to call him that? He could suspect her of ulterior motives, thinking she forced her maids to do these kinds of things. If that happened, wouldn’t everything be over?
Fortunately, Zu An helped ease the awkwardness. He asked gently, “Peach, just now, did you say that the North Sea Crown Prince was killed by the Peacock Princess?”
“Yes. I just received the most updated information. Our queen is extremely popular, so people always bring her the first information they receive to gain her favor,” Peach said proudly.
The Mermaid Queen’s face darkened even more. She now sounded as if she was the ruler of the sea or something, and just used men for whatever she wanted.
“Did this happen in the North Sea?” Zu An frowned slightly. The Peacock Princess had still been here at the Dragon Palace yesterday. Could it be that the monsters had used some kind of large-scale transport formation?
Peach opened her mouth, but she didn’t know how to respond. The report didn’t seem to have included this information.
The Mermaid Queen spoke up and said, “I have an idea of how this happened. Because the alliance between the Ocean and Fiend races is such an important matter for the Ocean races, the four dragon kings have all gathered here.
“The North Sea Crown Prince probably arrived with his father as well. I have some impression of him. He lives a hedonistic and lust-driven life and oppresses the people. That is why there have been many voices calling for the crown prince to be changed for another.” A hint of disgust appeared in her eyes as she spoke. It was many years prior when she'd last seen him; back then, the North Sea Crown Prince had never stopped staring at her. That fixed stare brimming with desire had been extremely disgusting.
Zu An thought to himself, I previously thought the talks between the Ocean and Fiend races would continue for a while. He hadn’t expected so many things to have happened in succession overnight.
The Fiend races had wanted to drive a wedge between the Ocean races and the monsters, but the monsters had similar designs. In the end, it was the monsters who had outsmarted their opponent.
Zu An suddenly felt a bit distracted. If he hadn't arrived yesterday, the monsters would likely have already succeeded with their plans. And yet in history, the Ocean races and Fiend races had clearly unified.
Did my arrival change history, or is it because of my presence that history became the way it was?
“Let me look into it in more detail.” The Mermaid Queen waved her hand after she spoke, and a few conches appeared by her ear. She closed her eyes and listened to the vague sounds coming from them, then quickly opened her eyes again. She explained, “After synthesizing all of the information from the different sides, it seems the North Sea Crown Prince was amusing himself around the Dragon Palace this morning, but then he encountered a pretty woman. When he saw how beautiful she was, he decided to take liberties with her, but he ended up being killed by that young lady. Judging from what bystanders are saying, she seems to have been none other than the missing Peacock Princess.”
The Mermaid Queen paused for a moment, then gave Zu An an admiring look. “It seems everything did develop as you anticipated.”
Zu An voiced his surprise. “Wasn’t the Peacock Princess captured by the monsters? Were those people certain it was her? They don't suspect that the monsters might be causing trouble behind the scenes at all?”
“The monsters announced that because you destroyed the Four Way Palace, the Peacock Princess took the chance to escape.” The Mermaid Queen had a strange expression as she spoke.
“The Peacock Princess was never in the Four Way Palace to begin with last night,” Zu An said. He'd made sure to investigate with his divine sense before destroying the Four Way Palace.
“But no one else knows that.” The Mermaid Queen sighed. Even if she went over right now to tell all of the Ocean races the truth, they probably wouldn’t believe her. There had been such a huge disturbance, after all. The Peacock Princess managing to get away was easier for the people to believe.
Zu An was also amused now. He hadn’t expected the monsters to push the blame onto him for that. But at the very least, he now knew that the Peacock Princess was still safe.
“Let’s try to find a way to save her, or else things will become troublesome if she's captured later.” The Mermaid Queen was also a bit distressed. “But where do we go to save her?”
Zu An was completely calm as he said, “There's no need to save her. Since Mojard wants to ruin the relationship between the Ocean and Fiend races, how could he let the ‘attacker’ get away so easily?”
The Mermaid Queen was momentarily stunned. She was about to continue asking questions when one of the conches next to her shook slightly. She brought it to her ear and listened attentively to the contents.
Zu An watched the scene curiously.
This magic artifact of hers is quite interesting.
The Mermaid Queen’s expression changed when she heard the news. She immediately stood up, and she gave Zu An a look of admiration. “It was as you expected! The Peacock Princess has already been captured. The East Sea Dragon King didn’t dare to treat this matter carelessly and sent out all of his subordinates, and finally captured her within fifty kilometers. They are currently escorting her back.”
Zu An sighed. He didn’t have any future-predicting abilities at all. It was just that he was too familiar with the monsters and Mojard. After being around them for so long, he could already roughly guess their way of doing things.
“Let’s go and save her then,” he said as he got up.
“Even though the North Sea Crown Prince had it coming, he was still a son who was really doted on by his father. With him dying just like that, it might not be so easy to save her,” the Mermaid Queen said with a bit of worry.
Even though the Peacock Princess was most likely being controlled by the monsters, they didn’t have proof of that. And even if they got proof, with her understanding of the Ocean races’ government, she knew they wouldn’t dare to try and get revenge on Mojard. But for the sake of their dignity and to provide his people with an explanation, the leaders of the Ocean races had to do something, and the Peacock Princess was the best target for such revenge.
We can’t offend Mojard, but you think we can’t offend you?
Moreover, the crown prince had perished at the Peacock Princess' hands. Their actions would thus be perfectly justified.
Of course, this ‘Eddie Peng’ could also just use brute force to bring the Peacock Princess away. After all, he had won against Mojard yesterday. If the North Sea Dragon King couldn’t afford to offend Mojard, he definitely couldn’t afford to offend such a powerful person either.
But not being able to offend 'Eddie Peng' didn’t mean the other side wouldn’t be upset. In the end, an explanation would still be needed for this matter. In the end, the blame would still be shifted to the Fiend races. On top of that, the two sides had already entered some conflict recently. The Ocean and Fiend races’ resentment against each other could already be irreparable, so they naturally wouldn’t work together to fight against the monsters anymore.
The Mermaid Queen had to admit that Mojard’s plan was vicious. Even though they knew what he wanted to do, it was still almost impossible to counter.
“Don’t worry. I have a plan,” Zu An said calmly.
When she looked at the man in front of her, the Mermaid Queen was suddenly a bit stunned.
Why does he seem a bit similar to the one from my dreams…
She quickly shook her head and threw away those nonsensical thoughts. Then, she quickly followed behind him.
Zu An had to admit that this Mermaid Queen was charismatic. As long as he was with her, almost no one stopped them wherever they went. There were onlylooks of infatuation toward the queen, and looks of jealousy directed at him.
Zu An couldn't help but chuckle. Beautiful things always moved people, as expected.
…
They quickly arrived at the Dragon Palace. They could hear a loud voice even from far away. “I don’t care what princess she is! If she killed my son, I want her life!
“Didn’t she find my son loathsome? Then she can just die and serve my precious son as his bride in the afterlife!
“No, she’s only good for warming the bed!”
Judging from the furious tone, the one who was speaking was clearly the North Sea Dragon King.
