"Huh?" Briefly blanking out in response to the young man's words, the director took a while to snap back to reality as he looked at Valyr with a frown. "…Surely, you must be joking, right?"
"As far as I know, Vylhalteinn is currently busy at the frontlines," the man continued, his tone now containing a hint of reprimand. "Unless you have a way for him to appear in this hall at this very moment, it wouldn't be wise to say something like that."
"Oh? But what if he did have a way for me to appear here?"
Hearing someone respond to his question, the director was slightly startled. Nevertheless, he remained calm as he looked at the direction of the voice, only for his expression to turn into that of shock as he recognized the one talking to him.
"V-Vylhalteinn!"
"That's my name, alright," replied Hal, nodding as he grinned. "Vylhalteinn Impyris, Elite Lesser Elder of the Melion Kingdom Sage Guild."
"As well as a good friend of Ylvar right here."
Grinning as he listened to Hal's greeting, Valyr briefly thought back to earlier, his memories returning to the point where the director had spoken about the possibility of the current situation being an act of some sorts.
Of course, as the director had no idea what was going on, the young man did not really get mad at him. Instead, he thought about how he'd persuade the man, considering that some of the other directors were of the same mind.
Thankfully, at that moment, he'd received a response back from Hal regarding the current situation, informing Valyr that he'd sent a message to one of the directors to have his presence be at the hall.
Naturally, the young man thanked Hal for his time, to which the latter replied that it was the least he could do for someone who made sure he and the others left the inheritance safely.
With that, whilst Valyr was in the midst of discussion with the director, one of the other directors summoned Vylhalteinn to the hall, throwing out a crystal that was then immediately infused with great amounts of mana.
Whoosh!
Within seconds, an apparition of Hal manifested within the hall, which quickly led up to the current moment as he responded to the director's words.
Smiling in response to Hal's words, Valyr briefly glanced at the man he'd trusted his life with back in the inheritance, immediately taking note of the faint bloodlust he was emanating.
"Just finished a fight or something?" he asked Hal, to which the latter nodded with a wry smile.
"Had to deal with a large group of orcs," said the man, offering Valyr a bit more insight to what was happening in the frontlines. "We're still in the midst of expanding our defensive line, actually."
"Speaking of which, when will you head to the frontlines, Ylvar?" asked Hal after that, making sure to not leak Valyr's true identity.
While some of the directors were listening in on their conversation with shock, Valyr pondered over the question for a bit before chuckling. "I'll probably head there within the week. Can't say my schedule is entirely free to head to the frontlines yet."
"Fair enough." Hal nodded in response, only to return his attention to the director that somewhat antagonized the young man.
"Now then. Let me help clear up the confusion regarding Ylvar's weapon."
As those words left Hal's mouth, he went ahead and began to narrate the journey he and Valyr had in the Four Pillars' Inheritance, greatly omitting details that weren't relevant to the discussion.
Naturally, as the discussion revolved around the arquebus Valyr had brought out, it went without saying that Hal's focus was there as well, talking about how the young man before them had allowed them to experience the arquebus firsthand.
In fact, Hal even told the directors that the young man had two weapons with a similar mechanism, prompting Valyr to bring out the pistol from his spatial bracelet, which only elicited greater surprise from the directors.
Seeing as most, if not all of the directors were now convinced, Hal and Valyr looked at each other, the two of them inwardly letting out a sigh of relief as they decided to end the explanation once and for all.
"Once again, the arquebus Ylvar has shown you is none other than the original version I've based my weapon from," said Hal. "From how it's operated to how it performs, the weapon I've created could be considered a reduced version of the weapon Ylvar forged."
"You still made an amazing weapon, though, considering you've only been able to experience it once," corrected Valyr. "Don't downplay yourself."
"I'm not." Hal let out a bit of laughter. "After all, there's no comparison between our two weapons just from sheer performance alone."
"In any case, I think I've done enough." Looking at the directors once more, the man nodded in satisfaction before proceeding to dispel his apparition.
"See you at the frontlines, Ylvar," said Hal as he thanked the director that summoned him.
"Yeah. I'll see you there." Thanking Hal once more, the young man watched the apparition gradually disappear with a smile, only for his attention to return on the director not long after.
"Or do you perhaps need a bit more?"
"More than enough. You've already given more than enough," the director hastily replied with a slightly apologetic smile, feeling like he'd only look absurd if he were to ask more from the young man.
Other than that, he felt that some of the directors had changed how they viewed him because of his actions, prompting him to finally backpedal for good.
"Great." Oblivious to what was going on in the director's mind, Valyr grinned in response as he requested everyone in the audience to identify the weapon he was holding.
Describing the arquebus in greater detail to the masses, the young man was soon met with looks of shock from all of the directors within the hall, with even the elder, as well as the pair of military officials not being spared from the reaction.
Though he felt like it was a done deal for his proposal to have the arquebus be implemented en masse throughout the frontlines, Valyr decided to really make sure that everyone was on board with the idea, suggesting to do a live demonstration of the arquebus for them.
Naturally, everyone within the hall agreed to the suggestion, prompting one of the directors to head out of the assembly hall to grab something that could be used as a live target.
However, not even a minute later, the director who left returned to the assembly hall with their face deprived of its color.
At first, the other directors wondered why that was the case, only for them to notice that the director was accompanied by someone who they never thought even in their wildest dreams to appear in a meeting like this.
"Greetings, everyone. Apologies for attending the meeting so late."
"Then again, my presence wouldn't be a disturbance during the meeting, right?"
