Chapter 140 Spear Against Fists
Chapter 140 Spear Against Fists
The battles of the Tournament of Legends are nationally known for having amazing fights that the general public usually can't see, and the playoffs are this grand competition's main attraction.
In the year 512, only thirty-two competitors made it to this final stage, and among them, only one could be declared the Champion. The fights began in the early evening and were to go on until the last one standing, even at dawn.
Amongst so many fierce battles, there was no one that failed in exciting the crowd. Every fight featured young and extraordinary people like Adven, Robin Ballard, Serena Daren, Hanemiya Sallow, and Kiririn Sallow. And with each battle, Nathalia became more and more anxious.
Since Nebezial defeated Shiro, Nathalia was apprehensive about who she would fight. Still, when a man named 'The Previous' and another boy were called, Nathalia already knew who her opponent would be. There was a very energetic girl in the other corner of the ledge; although Nathalia didn't know her title, Nathalia recognized the symbol of the color she was wearing.
This necklace was a large medal that hung around the unknown girl's neck and had a notch that looked like an ocean wave. Out of the corner of her eye, this girl also looked at Nathalia, and realizing that she was being stared at, the energetic girl decided to approach.
Leaping up, she approached and spoke loudly as Mikaela began the other battle:
"Hello, I am 'The legendary pugilist from Parato'." She announced and raised her biceps to show them off. They were indeed quite large for a thin-looking girl. "Haha! Just kidding, my name is Kaga."
"Nice to meet you. I'm Nathalia." The white-haired Elf replied, slightly confused at the girl's friendliness in front of her.
In truth, Kaga was different from all the participants present in the stands. While everyone else looked severe, tense, and grumpy, Kaga cheered during the battles and shouted with the crowd when something annoying happened, as well as thrilled when amazing skills were displayed.
This girl was by far the most humble-looking by not wearing shiny armor or giant weapons; in fact, she was wearing simple pants, a top to cover her breasts, and sashes wrapped around her feet, hands, and a little under her top.
"Apparently, we're going to fight in a couple of minutes. Good, I was tired of waiting." Kaga revealed and began stretching her right arm out to the side.
"I think you should understand that this Elf over there is shaking with fear..." A man shouted from the back of the participant stands. He had a parted fringe that almost covered his two eyes, and everyone knew he was Adven, a swordsman.
Nathalia was surprised by Adven's intrusion and she was about to wish Kaga a good fight, but she didn't get the chance. Still, no one could predict the way Kaga reacted to that comment.
"Adven, you're a man, so you should at least have better behavior than a teenager, right?" She said, making a face of disconfort as a sign of her disgust.
The swordsman just clicked his tongue and turned his face to Kaga.
"And 'The Previous' kills his opponent! You didn't hear wrong, he actually killed 'The Barber'!" Mikaela announced as her hologram reappeared in the Arena.
All the participants immediately looked to the center of the ring and saw the man with the long mustache announced as 'The Barber' with a small scythe across his neck.
The audience was once again divided. While many booed 'The Previous' for killing his opponent in cold blood, others judged that it was stupid 'The Barber' not to give up and that his persistence killed him.
A moment later, yellow circles appeared below Kaga and Nathalia's feet, and soon after, the two were teleported to the center of the ring, making 'The Previous' return to the ringside seats. The man brought the air of tension again, but Luke didn't even turn to look at such a killer, having several reasons to focus on the upcoming battle.
Kaga seemed to be an honest and fair kind of girl to the eyes of the half-wolf, but it was still not impossible that she would try to kill Nathalia.
"Now we have the last battle before the long-awaited first break of the night! Nathalia Strogueher on one side, and I didn't say wrong, a Strogueher here in our ring! and on the other side, 'The legendary pugilist from Parato'!"
The audience was not the most excited after seeing a person die in front of their eyes, but they still shouted a little. Some people were hoping to lift their spirits with an intense fight between two beautiful young girls.
On one side, a slender white-haired Elf wore beautiful armor with blue ornaments made with the purest and best steel that could be made at that time.
On the other side was a wonderful girl who had a much less developed body but still had energy in her eyes and tiptoes.
As soon as the fight started, Nathalia summoned her precious Panspermia spear and prepared to receive the blow from Kaga, who was running toward her. As previously announced in her title, the legendary boxer evoked no weapon and advanced toward the Elf with only her clenched fists.
However, just before entering the range of Nathalia's spear, Kaga filled her chest with air and quickly let go.
That was the move necessary for her to use the <Lethal Velocity> ability. As soon as Nathalia blinked, Kaga vanished from her vision and appeared less than thirty centimeters from her.
'I'm not going to lose that fast!' Nathalia shouted to herself, the girl needed to prove her strength in the playoffs.
The Elf predicted that the best region a boxer could punch her from that distance would be her chin since a blow at that point could force her brain to shut down, and it would be declared a knockout, so Nathalia wanted to take advantage of that target.
As soon as Kaga punched in the direction of Nathalia's chin, the Elf dropped her spear and headed the pugilist's head. The meeting of the two skulls made such a loud noise that people in the nearby stands could hear the sharp, hollow sound. TROCK!
Although Kaga was used to hard hits, this one took her by surprise, enough to make her consciousness stagger, but she managed to recover quickly and punch Nathalia in the face.
The young Strogueher was thrown away with the force of the blow, and when she realized it, she was without her spear and, with her bare hands, against a powerful boxer.
