There were many other beautiful masks on the shelf. Celeste had her eyes on a half–face metallic mask but someone else beat her to it. Before she could tum around, she heard a familiar voice, “Try it on if you like it.”

Clair was actually quite fond of the mask, but hearing Wesley’s voice just killed it for her. She put the mask back and was about to leave when she saw Liam approaching a masked girl, whispering. “Do you want to pick a few more?”

Caught off guard, Clair blurted, “Liam.”

Liam paused for a moment and looked up to see Clair and Wesley, then gave them a nod.

It was hard to tell if Liam felt awkward, but Celeste sure as hell did on his behalf. Having your cousin cover for you on a date only to get busted on a date with someone else, talk about a facepalm moment.

The smile on Clair’s face faded as she set her eyes on Celeste.

Wesley recognized Celeste at a glance, and he immediately figured out that Liam ditched Clair for a date with Celeste. Leaving Clair hanging to chase after his ex–wife, had Liam lost his marbles?

But for Wesley, he’s playing the cards dealt for him well. He immediately greeted Liam with a grin, “Liam, Celeste, good evening. Are you two on a date for Valentine’s Day too?”

He even blatantly pointed out Celeste’s identity.

Celeste’s lips tightened She felt uncomfortable at the mere sight of Wesley. Liam held her hand. Their fingers interlaced tightly, the warmth from his palm seeped into her heart and gave her a boost of courage.

“Weren’t you supposed to take Ms. Garcia to see the streetlights?”

“Why look at streetlights when there are lamps? You guys are celebrating, so are we” Wesley chuckled.

“Wesley, stop kidding around Clair frowned.

Wesley shrugged, “Well, Liam asked me to keep you company. He left you with me, so I gotta make sure you have a good time.”

Mentioning this made Clair’s face turn even more sour. As a woman, Celeste could empathize with Clair’s current feelings.

Clair clearly had a thing for Liam. She wouldn’t have asked him out on Valentine’s Day. But Liam agreed to go out with Clair only to have Wesley show up instead while he was on a date with someone else.

And Clair busted them.
