Chapter 817

From Clair’s perspective, what Liam did was absolutely uncool. The fact that she held back her anger only meant she was well–mannered.

Of course, as she was involved, Celeste wouldn’t sympathize with others.

Liam indeed had a charm that appealed to women. It was perfectly normal that girls had a crush on him. But Clair was someone whom Celeste had helped. She started showing affection towards Celeste’s ex–husband soon after their divorce. That was unsettling

While

feelings couldn’t be forced, there had to be a basic moral line.

She didn’t want to jump to conclusions about someone based on one or two incidents, nor did she want to make them feel awkward

Celeste gently tugged at Liam’s hand and whispered, “Let’s go.”

“Okay,” Liam agreed and walked away with Celeste.

Clair clenched her fists at the sight of the familiar bracelet on Celeste’s wrist The embarrassment and humiliation hit her all at once, turning her face pale She went out all dolled up for the date, only for Liam to pawn her off to Wesley.

She couldn’t reach Liam and was making excuses for him, thinking he was held up. However, he was out on a date with another woman. If Liam had turned her down in the first place, she wouldn’t have felt this mortified.

She was nothing more than a joke from the get–go. Her pride wouldn’t allow her to confront him in that circumstance. That would only make her look more like a

clown.

“Liam has always been stubborn. His feelings are always stable. You’re too good to be wasting your time on him. Maybe you should pay more attention to the people around you.”

“Wesley, do you like me?”

Wesley was taken aback. He didn’t expect her to ask so directly.

He nodded without hesitation, “Yes.”

“If you didn’t reek of heavy cologne, I might have believed you.” Clair laughed.

Wesley paused and then laughed, “Just playing to the gallery.”

“That’s exactly why I won’t choose you.”

Clair turned and left.

Because of the encounter with Wesley, Celeste didn’t feel like going to the wishing event they had planned.

Once in the car, she urged Liam to drive her home. Liam, feeling helpless, had no choice but to ditch the original plan and drive her home.

It began to rain on the way, so Liam sped up. When they reached the underground parking lot of Grandview Heights, Celeste unbuckled her seatbelt.

“I’ll go up.”

“I’ll walk you up.” Liam also unbuckled his seatbelt.

“No need, Trisha is at home.”

“She hasn’t come home yet”

“How did you know 7” Celeste paused mid–sentence with a look of suspicion on her face, “Did you have Nicolas take Trisha away?*

“I just guessed. Nicolas car is also missing from its parking spot.”

Celeste turned her head to look, and sure enough, Nicolas‘ spot was empty.

“Let’s get out of here,” Liam dodged a bullet and grabbed her mask, “I’ll escort you upstairs.
