Trisha taunted, “Why don’t you perform a magic trick for us, show us what real magic looks like.”

Celeste smiled slightly and said gently, “May I borrow your hand?”
The bride generously extended her hand. Celeste tucked two balls into her palm and told her to squeeze them. Then she covered her hand with a handkerchief As she chanted, the handkerchief began to bulge
When she lifted the handkerchief, a beautiful parrot appeared in the bride’s palm. Its little head was moving around, looking very lively
“Oh my god,” the bride was thrilled, “that’s so amazing.”
Molly sneered at the trick, “You just put a parrot in her hand, right? The color is the same.”
Celeste looked at her and said, “If Miss Molly thinks Mrs. Rowley is my confederate, why don’t you try it yourself?”
Molly stood up and said, “Sure, I’d love to see how you can create a living thing in my hand”
She extended her hand to Celeste.
Just like before, Celeste gave her two balls and told her to hold them.
Molly arrogantly said. Tll just keep my hand like this, you can just do the trick. You can’t be picky about the pose for a magic trick, can you?”
Celeste said gently. “It’s a living thing after all, I’m afraid you won’t be able to hold it
Molly laughed lightly. “You’re afraid of exposing yourself, aren’t you?”
Celeste smiled and said, “As you wish.”
With that, she covered it up with a handkerchief.
Molly’s face was etched with pure disdain. She didn’t believe for a second that Celeste could pull anything off in front of her. She was simply waiting for her to mess up so she could laugh at her expense.
Celeste looked up and asked, “Miss Molly, do you like animals?”
“They’re ainght”
“Do you have any pets?”
Molly shot her a glance, “Trying to distract me so you can switch out what’s in my hand, are you?”
Celeste chuckled. “Just making conversation. You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. Spatial displacement does take some time, after all. I wouldn’t want the atmosphere to get awkward while we wait.”
“Well, I have a question for you,” Molly shot her another glance, “What do your parents do for a living? Why do you know so many cheap tricks?”
The question was too direct, too demeaning. It was practically the same as saying “I look down on you”
