But his angry face was kind of cute.

Celeste found it amusing, she played along. “What on earth did he do to piss you off this much?”

Liam clamped his mouth shut, it took him a while to stutter out the answer

Celeste picked out the key point from his incoherent words–because of her.

This reason was unexpected for her

Upon further questioning, she found it both funny and heartbreaking

When she first mamed Liam, she didn’t know him very well. To understand his preferences, she could only start with his friends

But they didn’t know her well either, so she often made little pastries to get on their good side, with the goal of learning more about Liam through

Liam’s friends were all happy to cooperate, they accepted her gifts and mostly told her things about Liam

Liam didn’t know about this at first, but when he found out, he had a big fight with her. She always thought Liam didn’t like her trying to ‘suck up to his friends and

felt it was embarrassing

It wasn’t until today that she found out that the reason he fought with her was because he heard Chester’s remarks about her at a party

Superficial, sweet–talking sucking up to vanity unscrupulous, etc.

Liam only mentioned some of the less offensive words, in fact, the descriptions were much more unpleasant. And Chester’s comments, to a certain extent, represented the views of a part of the circle when she marned Liam

How could Liam not be angry? His wife was polite and considerate, but in the eyes of others, she was seen as sucking up to vanity. All these nasty comments were attributed to his wife, and he had a falling out with them on the spot.

Being annoyed, he came home and saw Celeste burn her hand making desserts, still talking about bringing some desserts to his friends tomorrow. He couldn’t hold back and angnly told her not to make such futile efforts anymore.

Celeste was originally full of joy, but was doused with a bucket of cold water, she was heartbroken at that moment.

She was angry and hurt, after the fight that night, she threw away all the dessert molds at home and didn’t talk to Liam for several days.

It was from that time that she began to have a subconscious aversion to Liam’s friends.

As she listened to Liam rambling on about this, she suddenly asked, “So you actually don’t mind me interacting with your friends, do you?”

Liam was stunned, frowning. “Isn’t it you who don’t like interacting with them? I always invite you to parties and you always look unhappy”

Celeste was surprised, “When did you invite me?”

Liam said, “You forgot?”

“Give me a hint, Mr. Reed‘

Liam chuckled softly. “When Nicolas’s new company launched, I asked if you wanted to come with me. You looked like you had swallowed a sour lemon and told me to invite anyone I damn well pleased”

She remembered that. But it was not like how Liam described it. It was because Liam didn’t just casually ask her if she wanted to go

What he actually said was, ‘Nicolas’s company is launching today, and he wanted to know if you’d like to come. If you do, I won’t invite my secretary since theres limited seating.”

Who would be happy hearing that?

He’d already set up his secretary and then asked Celeste if she wanted to go?

Celeste’s response was firm–I won’t go, invite whoever you want!

Celeste pinched his ear, gritted her teeth and said, “Was that an invitation? You’ve already set up your female companion, your secretary, and then you ask me if | want to go?”

Liam winced, his eyebrows knitted in pain, and said softly, “I didn’t invite any other woman, I said that on purpose, just to make you notice and care about me.

Celeste kept silent.
