Chapter 686 - Trouble In The Skies Part 1
The next morning Kana woke up and stretched her four limbs and tail. She transformed back into her human form and crawled over to the edge of her inlet to look down below. There were still many sitting off to the side, but there were also those who were doing everything they could to try to climb the wall.
Kana then laid down on her back and looked up. There were many already climbing up way higher than her. It seemed a lot of people had continued to climb even as she slept. She felt bad for those people, though, because they were going to exhaust themselves before they got any higher.
"They only need to climb and rest…." She looked around to see others had stopped to rest. But what shocked her the most was the monk. "How the hell do you sleep like that!?"
She was truly amazed by how the monk was able to sleep while using only one hand to hold on to the cliff wall and not slip at all. "Are his fingers made of steel?"
Kana wondered if the monk cultivated some kind of body technique to be that strong. Scratching her head, she yawned and stretched once more as she laid there looking at all the people climbing. Outside the array, Elder Ning chuckled to himself. "This little girl never seems to have a care in the world."
"It's because she already understands the concept of the test that she is acting so leisurely." Elder Shaun replied.
"You only just met her, so you do not know her character at all. She is someone who is not locked down by other people's laws and will follow her own way of doing things. She is what you can consider a true cultivator. While she may be joining our sect now, I am sure in the future she will leave and make a name for herself throughout the world." Elder Ning explained. Elder Shaun looked at Kana, who was now sleeping again and shook her head. She wondered if what Elder Ning said was true or not.
Kana did indeed fall back asleep. As she slept, Fan Sengya was watching her from his perch on his sword. He refused to move until Kana did. As for the monk, he slowly woke up and looked around before stabbing his fingers into the wall and began climbing again. The archer girl was still sound asleep as well. It seemed the two girls who started off first were about to be last place due to their sleepy-headedness.
After a while, Kana finally did wake up and begin climbing again. She took breaks here and there to look around at things before continuing on. As the day passed, night came, and then so did morning. Quickly four days passed, and Kana finally reached the cloud bank.
As she climbed into it, she frowned, feeling the cold icy moist air cling to her body. But the further up she went, she began smelling something that was not coming from her or the clean moist air. "This smell… A demonic beast?"
Kana quickly began punching the side of the cliff-forming a new hole for her to crawl into. As she did, she transformed into her dragon form and laid low, and looked around as best as she could through the thick cloud bank. "KYeaak!"
A strange screech came from deep within the clouds. Kana could finally make out a dark silhouette in the cloud bank coming towards her position. "Isn't this a little much for a new disciple test!?"
As the dark shadow got closer and closer, Kana realized the damn bird was ten times the size of her! She quickly backed up into her little shelter and began making it deeper and slimmer so only her small dragon form could fit in. Up in the sky above the array, Elder Ning's expression was not good. "Who the hell let a rank three wind falcon into the test area!?"
"I don't know, but if we do not do something, we will end up losing a lot of disciples!" Elder Shaun did not hesitate to rush forward but was quickly stopped by Elder Ning. "Elder Ning!? What are you doing!? If we do not move, those disciples will die! They can't even use their spiritual qi!"
"We can't…. This array is made in a way that it can not be turned off by anyone until the time is up. We can also not enter it. Those kids can only hope their luck is good…." Elder Ning's face was black. He needed to find the culprit who would do such a sinister thing. At that time, one man's face flashed across his mind. He just hoped he was wrong. But there was only one person who had the motive.
"What is going on?" The sect master's voice entered the two elder's ears, causing them to look up.
"Sect Master, it is like this." Elder Shaun went and began explaining the situation.
The more the sect master heard, the more his brow furrowed. He scanned the entire sect looking for anyone suspicious to find someone hiding in the tree line just inside the array. "Ning, when is the array up?"
"It will still be one full day." Elder Ning replied.
"Keep an eye on the outer sect disciple who is using a stealth technique in the brush between the two trees. Once the array is down, I want to see him locked up. I will handle his questioning." The sect leader would never let anyone play tricks during the most important time of the sect. These kids were all the future of his Moon Crest Academy. He would personally see to it that the disciple spills everything so he can find out who was truly behind today's incident.
As for Kana, she wanted to cry. The damn stupid bird was doing its damnedest to eat her! It completely ignored the other disciples and was only attacking the hole she created! "You damn oversized chicken, leave me alone!"
