Chapter 193: A week goes by in the blink of an eye.
In the middle of a pitch-black forest, a young man was standing opposite a fierce undead. The undead was a creature that had long surpassed level 100, a skeleton paragon. A skeleton paragon was a rather advanced form of evolved skeletons, but this one had evolved quite recently. The young man didn't seem to be scared at all facing such an adversary, instead, he looked as if he didn't care at all.
With his sharp eyes still inspecting the skeleton paragon in front of him, he fished out a scroll from the spatial bag adorning his waist. As he unfurled the scroll, a magic circle immediately lit up the surroundings. The skeleton paragon seemed to finally react to what was going on, but it was already too late!
The magic circle had already accumulated all of its power, all it needed to do was release, which was what the young man had just done. A wind arrow sped out quickly from the magic circle, before finally hitting the skeleton paragon!
The skeleton paragon had put up its shield in front of its face, seemingly waiting for a strong impact, but nothing happened. Surprised, the skeleton paragon lowered its shield, only to realise that the wind arrow had already hit, it just dissolved into the wind.
Contrary to the skeleton paragon's belief, the young man had never expected this wind arrow to do anything, this was simply just one of his experiments.
Ark let out a sigh, he really didn't expect this wind arrow to do much, but this result was still a little too pitiful. He had been training for an entire week, yet the result of his training was that he had not only obtained the skill [Magic Circle] but he had also levelled it to level 2. The only problem was the power of the skill, it was way too weak!
Even though that was the case, Ark didn't give up on the skill, since he wasn't going to use it to get stronger or win battles either way. The skill was mostly meant for utility, and he intended to let it stay that way.
When the skill had levelled up a few more levels, Ark could start selling his magic scrolls for a decent amount of money, and he would also be able to use his magic circles for his own convenience, which was definitely worth it in his eyes. Even though he still levelled up regularly, his levelling speed had dropped pretty drastically in the past week.
Maybe it was because he had been experimenting with his different skills a bit too much, but he had only levelled up a total of 10 times this week.
To others, this would be a very startling amount, but to Ark, it could only be described as normal. It was not bad, but also not very good. Since he had gotten 50 status points, he had invested 25 each into wisdom and intelligence, since they were both his main stats. He had also levelled his [Mana Erosion] to level 3 during all these experiments, and its power had gone up a little as a result.
Whilst Ark was in the middle of pondering about his experiments and the pitiful power of the magic scroll, the paragon skeleton was enraged. Through its numerous evolutions, it had gained some intelligence, and it had never been made fun of like this before.
All of its opponents had always looked at it with fear, and staked everything to fight it, only to end up dead, but right now, Ark was ignoring it. It was attacked by the most elementary magic existing, and was then ignored, how could it not be enraged?
Full of anger, the paragon skeleton raised its shiny sword, and rushed to attack Ark. Before it could even react, Ark had already retrieved a sword from his spatial bag, and slashed out. The two swords collided with each other, but the situation was very different from how the skeleton had imagined it.
It had expected itself to overpower Ark and send him flying, but instead, the sword it had raised up high was sliced into two parts.
The skeleton had once had a very fierce fight with an adventurer before it could finally get this sword, it was like a trophy. But against the pure white sword in Ark's hand, it was basically like a stick of butter. The shock was enough to make the skeleton stand still without doing anything for a split-second.
This split-second was enough time for Ark to slash out once more, and the proud and strong skeleton paragon was slashed in two.
Ark wasn't really surprised with the result, except for the sharpness of his sword. Although he knew the sword was great, he had never expected it to be to this extent. This sword had been the gift of a random human some time ago, and he had never used it to this day, since it was a bit too conspicuous.
A pure white sword adorned with jewels, no matter how you looked at it, it was the sword of a nobleman.
He still didn't quite grasp why a random man he had saved would give him a sword, since he was a wolf at the time, but either way, he liked it. The sword was beautiful, sharp and just comfortable to use. Whilst he was contemplating about the sword, he heard a shriek in the distance. Hearing a random shriek in this dark and creepy forest, Ark could feel a shiver run down his spine.
Although the shriek was pretty ominous, Ark didn't exactly wait around, and dashed out into the distance. Although he didn't want to be too involved with others, he would definitely save people if he had the chance to do so. Just because he saved others didn't mean he put his trust in them though, as the human heart was fickle, but he saved them nonetheless.
This was just something that he couldn't change.
He had experienced plenty of pain and even torture, but he just couldn't sit still when there were people he could save. He naturally wouldn't risk those he cared about or even his own wellbeing, but if it didn't cost him anything, then why not? He didn't have the time to dwell on stuff like that though, as he vanished into the dark forest.
Not far away, a party of 3 adventurers were in the middle of fighting against multiple undead. Right now, they were in the middle of a very dire situation. Although there were 3 of them, they were greatly outnumbered, and even worse, they were encircled. The party consisted of 2 girls and one guy, but right now, only one of the girls was in a condition to fight.
The reason for the shriek was that one of the girls was currently impaled with an arrow, and could only sit down on the ground, watching as her companions were fighting for their lives. Fortunately for them, in the midst of their despair, a great change occurred in the battle. The sky, that had originally been grey and dull, was suddenly obstructed with a large cloud of mana.
