Chapter 7
C7 – Buying the Spiritual Plant
Yun Haoyan shook his head, hoisting the bag in his grasp a bit higher. “He didn’t scold me at all; instead, he gifted me these Spirit Stones.”
“Wow! That’s a huge stash of Spirit Stones—must be over a hundred, right?” Yun Tiantian’s eyes gleamed as she gazed longingly at the bag. “You’ve got to treat me to some tasty treats and pretty clothes with all those Spirit Stones.”
“There are actually two hundred Spirit Stones here.” In his past life, Yun Haoyan had been a Martial Saint, and he could tell the number of stones just by the weight of the bag. “Tomorrow, I’ll take you out for a proper shopping spree. Whatever you want, we’ll get.”
Yun Tiantian, the cherished young princess of the Yun family, was always prudent and rarely indulged in frivolous spending. She was content with simple pleasures and saving her Spirit Stones, only mentioning treats and clothes as a way to coax her brother into spending time with her. At most, she might splurge on a few trinkets.
But Yun Haoyan was determined not to shortchange his sister in this lifetime. He had already planned to treat her to a day in Silkbarrow, spoiling her with several new outfits.
And where would the Spirit Stones come from? Certainly not from the mere two hundred low-grade ones. How could such a paltry sum purchase attire befitting his sister? No, he would have to visit the Qiu family to acquire more Spirit Stones.
“You promised! So it’s settled—we’re going shopping tomorrow,” Yun Tiantian said eagerly, almost as if she feared Yun Haoyan might change his mind.
Yun Haoyan chuckled and nodded, replying with a warm smile, “Let’s head out, shall we?”
“Where to? Are we hitting the shops?”
“Not quite. I’ve got something much more entertaining in mind.”
“What kind of entertaining thing?” Yun Tiantian’s large eyes twinkled with curiosity as she studied her brother.
She sensed a change in him; he seemed to radiate a newfound confidence and an air of mystery.
Yun Haoyan’s lips quirked into a knowing smile. “You’ll see once we’re there.”
In Silkbarrow, along the bustling Smooth Street, Yun Haoyan and Yun Tiantian approached a grand pavilion. With confident strides, Yun Haoyan led his sister through its doors.
“Excuse me, what would you like to order?” A courteous maidservant approached them with a respectful inquiry.
“Cleansing Root, Everbloom, Sunset on Prosperity…” Yun Haoyan rattled off a list of over ten first and second grade Spiritual Plants, including one third grade Spiritual Plant.
“Brother, why are you buying these at Echoes of Despair?” Yun Tiantian asked, her curiosity piqued.
Yun Haoyan was becoming increasingly enigmatic to her. She had no idea where he had learned the names of these Spiritual Plants, let alone what he intended to do with them.
Was Yun Haoyan considering learning the art of pill refining?
Yun Tiantian dismissed the thought, chiding herself for such a naive notion. Pill refining was far from simple. Their Yun family had been in the pill business for years and understood the industry better than anyone.
Pill concoction might appear straightforward—mix a few herbs, place them in a furnace, and wait to reap a bounty of pills. But was it really that easy?
Their father, the head of the Yun family, had attempted pill refining himself. Despite his prowess as a Martial Master, he failed to produce even the most basic Qi Refining Pill. After squandering countless Spiritual Plants, Yun Hai had abandoned the idea altogether.
“You’ll find out soon enough,” Yun Haoyan said with a cryptic smile.
It wasn’t that Yun Haoyan was unwilling to share the truth with his sister; the reality was simply too astounding to believe.
Yun Haoyan had never practiced pill refining in her presence. If he were to suddenly reveal that he not only knew how to concoct pills but was also a Divine Alchemist of the Pill God Realm, she would surely be incredulous. She might even think he was delirious.
