Chapter 419

At half-past five in the afternoon, during the Math Olympiad training class, Albert had just finished explaining the last problem. So, he closed the textbook and said, “We’ve covered all topics. Does anyone have any questions? If not, you can all head back early today. Review what you need to, get a good night’s rest, and don’t let it affect your performance tomorrow. And one last thing, don’t be late, and don’t forget to bring your admission tickets.”

After giving some additional instructions, Albert picked up his books and left.

The others started packing up their bags, while Lem came over and patted Madelyn on the shoulder. “Class is dismissed early. Want to hang out?”

“I’m not going. I have something to do later,” she replied.

Lem said, “I’ve heard that excuse from you a hundred times. Is it because your parents are strict?”

Madelyn smiled faintly but didn’t say anything.

Kennedy gave Lem a meaningful look. Lem seemed to suddenly remember something. He covered his mouth, realizing his lapse.

“It’s alright. You and Ken can go ahead.”

Madelyn said, “Okay.”

After they left, Jadie walked up to her, looking concerned. “Madelyn, are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” Madelyn packed her bag, her face showing little emotion.

No one knew who the girl Ethan had taken from Supreme World was, but everyone knew that Ethan was likely to have cheated on Madelyn. Many speculated that she might be about to be dumped.

“Well, I’ll head back to the classroom. If you’re feeling upset about anything, you can come talk to me anytime. If you want to go home, Zach will find a way to help.”

“Um, you go ahead. I’ll tidy up here,” Madelyn said.

Jadie nodded and said, “Okay.”

When the classroom was empty, and Madelyn was left alone, she felt discomfort. She rested her hand on her forehead, her fingers running through her dark, slightly curly hair, as a headache began to throb. After all, today she had endured too many curious looks, and the cacophony of voices had left her feeling suffocated. She didn’t know how she would approach Ethan when she got home.

“Hey, isn’t that Madelyn?”

“Why hasn’t she left yet?”

A group of girls walked by in the hallway, noticing Madelyn inside the classroom.

Madelyn was snapped out of her thoughts by their voices. She suddenly remembered that the members of the dance club would be coming to practice soon. She stood up, grabbed her backpack, and was about to leave when Kayla and her friends blocked her path.

Kayla had her hair pulled up into a high ponytail and was sporting a long black cotton jacket. She asked, “Madelyn, where’s Forry?”

“I really don’t know his whereabouts,” Madelyn replied, attempting to walk past her.

Kayla nudged her shoulder. “How can you not know? He hasn’t been back to school since he left your apartment that day. Seriously, you don’t know?”

“If you’re his girlfriend, why are you asking me? If you want to find out, just give him a call. Move out of my way!”

Madelyn’s voice was resolute, and the people blocking her path seemed unsure about what to do.

Kayla stamped her foot in frustration. “Why won’t anyone do anything?”

“We don’t want to mess with her. No matter what, she’s Ethan Arnold’s girlfriend.”
