Chapter 146 – What’s with these unconscientious servers at this restaurant? (1)
When Lu Xun came over, Lin Yiyi thought he was there to offer his moral support.
As it turned out, ever since he had sat down, buckets and buckets of dog blood had ensued…
If she wasn’t involved in this incident, she would very much like to snack on a bowl of melon seeds as she listened to him talk!
“You mean to tell me that… it was your company’s decision to swap out Zhang Xiying?”
Seeing Lu Xun’s resentful look, Lin Yiyi immediately changed her tune. “What I meant to say was, so that was how Zhang Xiying ended up not having the role in ‘Earth-shattering’?”
As she had launched her own film company and joined the production in a different way, Lin Yiyi had expected that everything would continue to go down that path that they were supposed to. That Zhang Xiying would join the filming cast and as the movie grew in popularity, as would her position on the big screen.
This was unexpected!
It was entirely bad luck on Lin Yiyi’s part. Neither Shengshi Entertainment or Yuan Yao Media had anything against Zhang Xiying.
Yet, as she was loosely related to Zhang Xiying through her ex-husband, let it be paparazzi or the media, they all acted as though they had been possessed by a hound dog and followed what little scent of blood there was and came up with these dog blood speculations.
Lin Yiyi thought about it for a little while and asked, “So… Zhang Xiying was the one who started this whole incident?”
Lu Xun could more or less figure out where she was going with this.
He shook his head, “No, I don’t think so. Not that I look down on Zhang Xiying per se, but this is doubtless an act that would offend Shengshi Entertainment, Yao Ying Media, and your Xinri Media at the same time. Not to mention also offending the production team as well. She wouldn’t do this unless she wants to never work with Director Lu Sen again.”
That made sense too. Lin Yiyi was convinced right away.
As for right now, they could only go after the few media companies and wait for results from further investigations.
Lin Yiyi felt helpless. She felt that she had been a scapegoat as of late.
And every time the culprit had always been this man!
She stared at him.
When it came to anything that was work-related, his intelligence was still very intact.
She recalled the incident that took place at Shengshi Entertainment yesterday. She almost thought that he was going to profess his love to her.
Naturally, it was finally proven that she was the one who had overthought it all.
“If there’s nothing else on your end, then I am going to take off. Let me know if you hear anything else,” said Lu Xun.
“Alright,” said Lin Yiyi as she nodded.
She responded with such alacrity that Lu Xun felt displeased all of a sudden. “I thought you’d ask me to stay for a while longer.”
Lin Yiyi gave him a look.
Mr. Xu, now you were the one who was overthinking this. She was still feeling embarrassed from what had happened yesterday. Ask you to stay for a while longer? Should I also invite you to my place for New Year celebration while I am at it?
Seeing that Lu Xun had already stood up, Lin Yiyi followed suit and stood up, getting ready to walk him out.
Lu Xun stopped in his steps again.
“Are you rushing me to get out?” He asked.
And that was not an entirely baseless accusation on his part…
Her look couldn’t have said “Hurry up, please leave…” any clearer.
The wronged look on his face made Lin Yiyi want to laugh.
Indeed, her lips started to curve upward uncontrollably. “Should I be asking you to stay for dinner instead?”
This guy was extremely good at taking a mile when given an inch. Had she asked him to stay for dinner, he would really stay and follow her home.
Come to think about it, how much rice of hers had he consumed over the course of the past month?
Unexpectedly, Lu Xun shook his head this time. “No, I want to take you out to dinner.”
His words had shocked the both of them.
When Lu Xun realized what he had just said, what followed became much smoother. “I have always been going over to your place for dinner. I feel bad about it but never had a chance to ask you out. Why don’t I take you out this time?”
That seemed reasonable.
Lin Yiyi nodded. She had finally confirmed that this man still possessed a shred of EQ. (A/N: The pot was calling the kettle black.)
