Chapter 48 - Biological Parents
Chapter 48 - Biological Parents
The man stared at An Luxia for several seconds and didn't say anything so the old woman standing behind pushed forward and smiled, "Yixin, do you not remember your mom and dad anymore?"
An Luxia blinked a few times confusedly and she heard footsteps coming from behind her, "Ma'am, are you mistaken? Mom and dad?"
An Yuchen and Mo Han appeared behind her and An Yuchen furrowed his eyebrows together, "Xiaxia, who are these people?"
An Luxia turned around and shook her head, "I'm not sure. . ."
An ominous feeling arose inside of her, causing her stomach to churn uncomfortably. Mom and dad. . . Her mom and dad were inside the house.
"Yes, Yixin! I'm your biological mom, this is your biological dad, and this is your biological sister!" The old woman said with a crooked smile.
An Luxia furrowed her eyebrows together right away as she took a step back, bumping into Mo Han, "I'm sorry, ma'am. My parents are inside. I don't have biological parents. Please leave."
Then, she closed the door directly in the man's face.
An Yuchen and Mo Han exchanged a glance as An Luxia walked back into the living room, sitting down on the couch.
"Xiaxia, who is it?" Qi Lanyu asked.
An Luxia frowned and looked up, ". . . No one important. They will leave soon."
"Oh, okay."
Mo Han returned and sat down next to An Luxia, handing her a plate of oranges that were peeled and sliced.
Just as An Luxia was about to eat an orange, there was a loud crash that came from outside the door, quickly followed by a scream.
"Ah, our daughter doesn't want me as a mom anymore!!"
"How can she be so heartless?!! Wahh!!"
An Luxia furrowed her eyebrows together and looked down, continuing to stuff oranges down her throat. Since she had arrived at the adoption center when she was only three, she did not have many, if not any, memories of her parents.
It was natural she did not have any feelings towards them, and she did not even know if those two people outside were truly her biological parents.
"They are. . . your parents?!" Qi Lanyu jumped up from the couch in surprise as she looked towards the door.
"Mom, what do you mean? You and dad are my only parents."
Qi Lanyu looked towards An Yuchen, who looked back at her and gave her a signal, which Qi Lanyu immediately understood.
"Yes, of course. . ." She slowly sat down and looked over at An Ping worriedly.
For the next few minutes, all they could hear was the screaming coming from outside, which was unusually loud.
Then, the doorbell rang again and An Luxia immediately said, "Don't go."
No one moved but the doorbell rang once again. Finally, An Luxia stood up and walked over to take a look. The other four of them followed.
She looked through the eyehole and saw that it wasn't the three people, but instead it was their neighbors.
She opened the door slightly and saw her "parents" sitting on the ground a few feet away from the doorstep.
"Hello, Mrs. Wang."
The old woman frowned slightly as she looked over at the people on the ground, "Xiaxia, do you know them?"
"No." An Luxia said bluntly.
"Yixin, how can you say that?! I'm your mom and he's your dad!" The old woman said, receiving a disgusted glare from An Luxia.
Mrs. Wang furrowed her eyebrows together confusedly and finally said, "My son is trying to study for an upcoming test. You know. . . He is getting ready for his college exam. Please try to be quiet."
She sighed before turning around and leaving, returning to her house.
An Luxia frowned and looked over at the three people. The girl around her age had her phone out and was scrolling through it.
Finally, she pressed her lips together and said, "Come in."
The woman immediately jumped up and ran over, trying to grab onto An Luxia's hand. However, before she could even get close, Mo Han suddenly stepped over and pushed her away, causing her to fall onto the ground with a loud crash.
"Ah!" The woman frowned as she rubbed her bottom angrily, "Who are you?! How dare you push me?!"
An Luxia scrunched her face up just from looking at them. She had blurry memories that her biological family was probably poor and maybe even came from the rural countryside. . . However, when her assumptions were actually proven to be true, she was still a little disgusted by how they behaved.
After being raised in a decent family with great education and good upbringing, looking at her biological parents acting so rudely was embarrassing.
But she did know one thing.
She may have forgotten a lot of things, but she had one memory that was fresh as new that had always stayed with her since she was 3.
She clearly remembered hiding behind the wall and hearing her "parents" talk about it.
Talk about throwing her away.
She clearly remembered why she was thrown away.
When she was three, her biological mother got pregnant again and the doctor had said it was a boy. She remembered hearing her parents talk about how they did not have enough money and could not afford to raise two children.
Naturally, her parents wanted to keep the boy and not her.
So, two days after she had overheard her parents talking about throwing her away, she found herself alone in an adoption center.
