Chapter 119: Great Minds Think Alike
Trying to use clairvoyance on a fully awake person who was also filled with hostility and precaution was not a simple matter. Even if the young King was not a sorcerer, she was aware that something was trying to probe her body. At once, an outrageous look appeared on her face and with her hands gripped tightly on her War God’s Sword, she waved it up high drawing an arc in the air.
Almost instantly, Baiyi could sense a small part of his Psychic Energy suddenly disappeared into thin air. The small part of energy that had been extended had its tie severed and in just a second, it dissipated into nothingness.
This sword can actually cut off Psychic Energy? Surprised, he asked in the Void. Recalling the feeling that he felt a moment ago, he quickly corrected himself, Wait, no, this is not correct! This is not the feeling of being severed but the whole thing had been erased! Don’t tell me that this swords function is not slicing through space but it can actually erase space? It actually erased the three-dimensional space where my Psychic Energy was just now? How is this possible?!
The Spacial Slicing and Erasure might sound similar but in truth, they were both two completely different powers. Slicing was just a temporary effect but Erasure was a permanent one. In the realm of reality, the space would always be constant and permanent. Even if it was being temporarily severed by a powerful force, it would quickly reattach at a speed not perceivable by human beings. The barrier of the Void that had trapped the Voidwalkers for thousands of years also adopted that rule, which was why they still could not find a way out.
Unlike Slicing, Erasure would delete a region of space along with any matter or energy in it. That would amount to a violation, or even a modification of the Law of Space. Without a doubt, the power had gone far beyond the scope of an ordinary weapon. The only plausible explanation was the War God’s Sword was the weapon of the GodHimself.
Was this so-called God of War truly a real God in this world?
“That is impossible!” The Archmage quickly put a stop to his disciple’s fantasy, “The Law of Space is the most sensitive law of all, it can even directly affect the constitution of this world so there is no way that the Higher Power would handover such a crucial power to anyone, let alone making it into a weapon and give it to a mere mortal! If the Higher Power is so affable, then He wouldn’t have imprisoned us for such a long time!”
“I agree with Sir Archmage!” The Scholar piped up. As a great sage who was exiled to the Void for trying to mess with the Law, she naturally had a say in the matter, “The Higher Power would neverallow such sword to exist in this world! Otherwise, this sword and its creator would have been exiled into the Void a long time ago, just like Sir Alchemist.”
“Eh? Why did you bring my name up all of a sudden? I was not exiled, I came in here by myself! Er... from a failed experiment but still, my experiment managed to rip through the Void’s barrier y’know! The barrier that you guys could only stare and sigh at helplessly!” Instead of feeling shameful, the Alchemist announced proudly, “How is that? I’m great, huh?”
“Whether you’re exiled or not is not the point. You’re still here being imprisoned for thousand of years now aren’t you? Isn’t it the same with the rest of us?” The Scholar responded by asking.
“Errr... Yeah... You have a point..” The Alchemist replied embarassedly.
“Actually, I’ve found some record in the Door of the Conundrum before about that experiment that blew you in last time,” The Scholar added.
“Oh, what kind of record is that?” Other than the Alchemist, the Archmage and other Walkers who were listening to their conversations queried one after another. Baiyi was the only one who did not bother to ask. It was because he did not have any memory about that record at all, which meant that he had long deleted that part of memory from his mind as it did not contain any useful information.
As he expected, the Scholar replied, “After you were gone, all of those people who tried to duplicate your experiment went missing without a trace. That was the only thing that was mentioned regarding your experiment in the record that I found, do you have any idea why?”
“No wonder! Looking at the great achievement of the Alchemist back then, I was thinking to myself why didn’t this guy get his accomplishment recorded at all? All I saw in every historical book was about how you were a heterodoxy and that’s basically it. There’s no other information about your works at all!” The Explorer chimed in.
“What? Why did you study my history for, you grave robber! You wanted to dig up my grave as well?!” Ignoring the everything that was said, it was the only thing that the Alchemist was concerned about.
“N-No, no, no! Please! Let me explain...” The Explorer quickly defended himself.
“Alright, alright, let’s talk about your private grudges later. Our Sir Hope is still in the middle of a fight right now, remember?” The Scholar immediately broke up the impending argument. Hearing that, Baiyi felt a little touched by her gesture, at least there was somebody who was still paying attention to his current situation.
“Anyway, it’s absolutely impossible for the sword to eradicate space. In my opinion, this should be some kind of unique Spacial Transfer where it could transfer any matter or energy in the space itself to another place,” the Scholar explained. Then, through Baiyi’s eyes, she carefully observed the surrounding environment before she continued, “Look around you! The edges around the chasm is too clean, don’t you think so? There’s no leaves nor soil that were left behind by the attack at all. At first I thought that it was blown away by the the strong wind that was caused by the high-speed attack But now that I think about it, there should still be some debris left behind if this was the case. It looks like the debris that was caused by the attack have been transferred along with the soil as well.”
Thanks for your reminder, but what help would this discovery bring me in my current situation right now? Baiyi asked with a sigh, Looks like the young girl needs a little more time to catch her breath. Please guys, let’s talk about a more practical solution, shall we?
Although it might seem like the previous discussion of the few Walkers had taken quite a long time, but in truth, due to the state of high-speed communication between them, the entire duration only took a few seconds in reality. That short amount of time was not enough for the young girl to recuperate her energy to launch another high-power attack.
“Well, the most important thing is, if you use your whole body to block this attack, you will not die! You would probably be transfer to another place, maybe the North? Or maybe even another realm? But in short, you won’t die! So, if there’s really not enough time for you to dodge the attack, remember to use your whole body to block the blow, don’t ever let her get only a part of your body, okay?” The Scholar added.
I can go to another realm? Baiyi asked curiously.
“It’s possible. Anywhere could be its transfer location as long as it is within the realm of reality. Other realms are no exceptions as well.”
Hmm... If we can study this Spacial Transfer ability in details, we can use this power to travel through realm, right? Oh, that would be so convenient for us in the future! That was the first thing that came to Baiyi’s mind.
To describe it in layman’s term, the entire realm of reality was like a bottle of carbonated drinks that were full of bubbles inside. Outside of the bottle was the Void and the bubbles of all sizes inside it represented all realms in reality— be it big or small in size. Although the sword might not be able to move the things outside of the bottle into it, but at the very least, it allowed the existing thing in the bottle to travel through all the different-sized bubbles.
As he thought about that, Baiyi could not help but crack a joke about it, Looks like this sword may be quite suitable for some of the Earthlings! We can just cast the attack and send them to the two-dimensional world that they like so much! I’m sure they’d be very happy about it!
“That’s too far-fetched, my disciple! It’s better for you to focus on how you’re gonna snatch the sword over now! Oh, yeah, remember to get the girl over to our side, too!” The Archmage said, “But if the sword’s function is really as useful as what the Scholar has speculated, then you must let me join in the Holy Grail War 1 !”
Isn’t that even more far-fetched than my idea? How can you start imagining about going inside these second-dimensional worlds now? Please be more sensible, sir! Isn’t it common sense that such thing is impossible? Wake up please!
“Sir Hope, I have another idea,” The Thane suddenly interjected, “If you really want to snatch both the sword and the owner over, it’s best for you to use the identity of Master Hope instead of Sven the Rogue Knight who seems to be kinda shady.”
Oh, yeah, that’s true! I have to take care of Mia most of the time and if I really kidnapped this girl back, I couldn’t possible lock her in the dungeon with a collar around her neck everyday, could I? Let alone keep switching bodies between Master Hope and Sven the Rogue Knight all the time. How troublesome would that be....
So in the end, he had made his decision. He would grab the sword tonight and get her over to his side tomorrow with his real identity. As for body checking and all, well, without her sword with her, that girl would be left with only Master Level power, he could do anything he wanted since she would not be able to fend him off anymore. Now that Baiyi had made up his mind, he decided not to show her any more mercy. With the swords in his hand, he took huge strides forward as he rushed towards the barbarian girl in front.
At that moment, the strength of the King had still not fully recovered yet, however, in the face of Baiyi’s attack, she put on a proud facade and smirked, “Oh? You still dare to take me on even afteryou’ve witnessed the power of the War God’s Sword? Hmm, I rather admire your courage, y’know!” Picking up her sword, she took on a defensive stance, ready to engage in a close-range combat with Baiyi.
She believed that with the power of the War God’s Sword, even if she could not launch the previous attack yet, she could at least easily cut off her opponent’s weapon easily. By then, Baiyi would be disarmed and what else could he do without his weapon? With such reasoning in her mind, she threw away all her doubts and hesitation and charged forward to stab Baiyi in the chest, wanting to force him to lift up his sabers to block the assault.
Yet, who would expect that Baiyi had already guessed what she had in mind. Seeing how she had lifted her sword up in preparation, he lifted up both of his swords to seemingly to block the attack, but instead, it was just a feint as the moment the red sword and his blade almost touched each other, he suddenly took a step sideway and turned his body abruptly, dodging the assault of the girl. At the same time, with speed comparable to lightning, he stabbed his sword at the girl’s wrist. It was so fast that everything became a blur.
The two of them surprisingly had the same idea in mind... That was to disarm their opponent’s weapons first.
