Feng Jing shook his head. Almost all the surveillance camera footage near the car park had been retrieved by the police recently, but they didn’t find anything useful.
Captain Chen asked Zhao Bo a few more questions in the interrogation room. Seeing that he didn’t react too strongly, he ended the interrogation.
Yin Tao felt that although this man called Zhao Bo wasn’t a good person, he didn’t have the usual reactions of a murderer.
“Captain Feng, this person has a time alibi, so we can’t arrest him. However, for now, he is the only person who had a conflict with the victim, Li Ting.” Captain Chen was also at his wits’ end. The series of murders was weighing on him.
“Starting from the time Li Ting disappeared, phone cards, bank cards, IDs… Use all the methods you can think of to find out where Li Ting was during the period of time she disappeared.”
After Feng Jing finished speaking, he said to Ji Yu, who was behind Captain Chen, “Did you discover anything about Sun Peng’s case? How much have you seen from the surveillance cameras in the car park?”
Upon hearing Feng Jing’s words, Ji Yu recalled the surveillance video that he had just watched with Yin Tao. “I found something. Sister Xiaotao noticed it first. The reflection on the windshield of the car parked across the road from the abandoned car park shows Zhou Nan and the suspect with a handicapped right leg. It fits Sun Peng’s landlord’s description.”
“Impressive! Xiaoyin, are you keen to join our Criminal Investigation Department?” Captain Chen smiled as he looked at Yin Tao. He felt that this young lady was really something.
“I’d better focus on autopsies and try to help you solve the case as soon as possible.”
Yin Tao humbly smiled and said to Captain Chen and Feng Jing, “We can confirm for now that the suspects in the dismemberment case are Zhou Nan and the man with the handicapped right leg, but we can’t find any suspects in this suicide case. There were no fingerprints or DNA on the body.”
“Patience, we’ll find something eventually. With witnesses and surveillance footage, at the very least, we can get a hold of Zhou Nan and the suspect with the handicapped right leg first. We have made some progress on this case.”
What Captain Chen was really worried about was Wei Feng’s case. Because of Chief Wang, there was time pressure on this case. Captain Chen had not given up on the case, but there was still hardly any progress.
“Sigh, I just hope that nothing else happens…” Captain Chen took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket. Just as he put a stick in his mouth, the cell phone in his pocket rang again.
Yin Tao felt that Captain Chen’s words were ominous. In this world of the novel, words couldn’t be spoken carelessly because there was a high chance that it would come true.
Looking at Captain Chen’s increasingly dark expression, Yin Tao was certain that something bad was going to happen.
After ending the call, Captain Chen explained to Feng Jing, “Captain Feng, I’ll go to division two first. There seems to be a problem on Zhang Han’s end.”
“Alright, go ahead. I’ll take care of things here.” Feng Jing immediately ordered Ji Yu to apply for an arrest warrant for Zhou Nan and the other suspect.
Seeing that there wasn’t much she could do to help, Yin Tao left the police station.
She had originally planned to go to the supermarket to buy some instant food. After all, there weren’t many opportunities for proper meals recently. Yin Tao wanted to replenish supplies for everyone, but as soon as she had arrived at the entrance of the police station, she saw Bai Luo and Xia Jin getting out of the car quickly.
“Bai Luo, did you work through the night?” Looking at the exhausted Bai Luo, Yin Tao asked worriedly.
“I rested in the car for a while.” Bai Luo glanced in the direction of the police station and asked, “Xiaotao, have you seen my Master? I couldn’t get through to him.”
“Captain Chen was just called away by Deputy Captain Zhang of division two. He looked quite anxious. Something must have happened.” After Yin Tao finished speaking, she saw that Bai Luo seemed to have expected this.
“It might be for the same reason why I’m looking for my Master.” Bai Luo sighed and continued, “The female corpse that was found last night, Li Ting, disappeared half a year ago. Xia Jin and I noticed a few more missing person cases that happened at the same time. They were somewhat similar to Li Ting’s case.”
Xia Jin glanced at Bai Luo and took out the folder in the car. “Bai Luo, Sister Xiaotao, I’ll go report to Captain Feng first. You two have a chat, then find a place to rest for a while.”
Bai Luo watched as Xia Jin ran away and said to Yin Tao, “In order to let me rest, Xia Jin worked all night yesterday. He usually looks immature, but he’s quite responsible at critical moments.”
“I told you that you were biased against Xiaoxia in the past. He’s clearly quite good.” Yin Tao smiled and asked Bai Luo, “You just said that the missing person case is similar to Li Ting’s case. What exactly is going on?”
