207 Ch. 207 Did They Fight Again?

The sun has set, indicating that the clock has passed from nine o’clock in the evening. For the first time since Richard had lived in Kensington with his wife, Richard had come home from work later than usual.

Little Lori, who even waited for her parents to have dinner together, was forced to eat alone, accompanied by their butler. Her mother was home before dinner, but she was acting very strange. When Anxia looked at her, her mother smiled, which didn’t reach her eyes, and hugged her so tightly that it was hard to breathe.

Lori even had to open her mouth wide to let oxygen in when her mother never let go of her hug.

If at normal times, Lori would joke by pretending to struggle, and then she would laugh with her mother. But this afternoon, her mother looked disinterested, as if something terrible had happened.

The intelligent Lori couldn’t help but let her brain run wild. Her mother was discouraged, and her father had not returned yet. Could it be they were fighting again?

“Young lady, it is time for you to sleep. Tomorrow you have to get up for school.” the butler who had helped Richard and Anxia in serving all of Lori’s needs reminded the little girl to get some rest immediately.

“I want to wait for daddy to come home. Why doesn’t he back yet? Did my father and mother fight?” Lori felt her heart sink as she expressed the last sentence.

Lori didn’t remember the kind of fights her parents had when she was a toddler, but she did remember feeling sad whenever her mom and dad stared at each other with hostility. She didn’t want to return to that feeling and hoped her guess was wrong.

“Don’t worry. It was not like that. The master is taking care of his work, and perhaps your mother was unhappy because the master had forgotten to call her.”

.....

“I hope so. Dad is truly forgetful, isn’t he?”

“Yes.” The butler chuckled to see Lori’s mood had improved. “Why don’t you sleep first? I’m sure the master and madam will see you in the morning.”

Lori took a deep breath and let it out slowly. The way she exhaled looked adorable—her back was straight up when she inhaled but hunched limply when she expelled air from her mouth.

The butler couldn’t help but smile. The young miss of the house was so cute and lovely that everyone didn’t wish to see the young miss gloomy. Thus they would do everything they could to lighten up Lori’s mood whenever something was not right occur at the house.

Just as Lori was about to walk towards her room, she heard a sound coming from the garage way. Lori’s steps stopped, and her eyes immediately glanced toward the door with a hopeful look.

“Oh, it seems master has returned,” stated the butler in a humorous tone seeing his young lady smile even more comprehensively. And sure enough, as soon as the door opened, the father’s face that the little girl had been waiting for appeared.

“Daddy!”

Richard, who previously felt exhausted and starving, became bright again when he heard a melodious voice calling him.

“My princess,” Richard spread his arms to the sides to welcome his daughter, who ran towards him and held her while laughing with the little girl.

“Dad, you’re so late!”

Richard chuckled at his pouting daughter. “Sorry, there was a problem at the office. Don’t worry, tomorrow I will pick you up from school with your mom and then we’ll play in Kensington Park. What do you think?”

“Really? It’s a promise, then!”

The butler also giggled when he saw Lori cupping her father’s face and giving him kisses on both cheeks.

“It’s late. Get some sleep.”

“En.” Lori obeyed her father and allowed the butler to lead her back to her room. But just as she remembered something, Lori turned around to talk to her father. “Dad, do you have a fight with mommy?”

“What? Of course, not. Why?”

“She looked sad when she came home earlier. She didn’t even have dinner.”

Richard frowned at this, then glanced at the butler, “Is madam not eating?”

“That’s right, sir. We’ve been trying to find madam, but we can’t find her. Maybe she’s resting in her room, and we don’t dare to disturb her.”

“I understand. Sweet dream, princess.” Richard’s gaze returned to his daughter, earning a sweet smile from his daughter.

After Lori stopped looking at him, Richard’s gentle smile disappeared, and his thoughts drifted to his wife. Without waiting any longer, Richard decided to look for his wife first in his room. However, he couldn’t find the woman there.

Richard looked for her on the balcony, back garden, pool, and in Anxia’s favorite lounge… but couldn’t find his wife.

Richard returned to his room and tried to call his wife’s cell phone. Not long after, he heard a dial tone from his phone along with the ringtone of his wife’s favorite song on the nightstand table.

“Xia Xia, are you here?”

Then Richard remembered the LYMT bracelet he was wearing. Luckily, he had secretly placed a tracking device inside the bracelet. He didn’t mean to suspect his wife, nor was he afraid that Anxia would leave him voluntarily. He was only anticipating the imminent threat of danger. Perhaps, their enemies would attack them while they were off guard, and Anxia would be forced to follow them.

That’s why Richard deliberately put a tracking device in their bracelet.

Apart from Richard, no one knew about this tracking device—neither the Cerberus team nor his wife knew about it.

What was unique about this tracking device was that not only did Anxia’s bracelet have a tracking device, but Richard’s bracelet also had one. And the tracking device could only be detected by each partner. Because of this, the bracelet cannot be tracked by other programs or hacked by other systems.

After turning on the tracking device on Anxia’s bracelet, two small red dots appeared on the black box. Strangely, the two points are close to each other, meaning Anxia is in this room.

“Xia Xia?” Richard called his wife in a rather loud voice but heard no response. Then Richard decided to go to the bathroom and was very surprised to see his wife sitting in the corner of their bathroom with her knees bent in front of her chest.

“Xia Xia,” Richard approached his wife quickly and looked all over her body to see if there was anything injured on her. He became worried when he saw his wife sitting pensively without moving in the corner of the bathroom.

Has his wife been sitting here since she came home earlier? Why? Why is his wife torturing herself like this?
