Chapter 129

Their car eventually arrived at Levine Manor, and Jay was running as soon as he got out of the car, vomiting endlessly.

Zoe stood behind him, watching as his head sank between his knees.

He was just fine in the car just now, but he somehow looked like he was going to puke his guts out

again.

She began, “Should I get the family doctor-”

“Achool” Jay sneezed again before she got close, and then continued to vomit.

It was an utterly horrendous scene!

Zoe took a step back and said, “I’ll get the doctor.”

With that, she headed into the manor.

Rudy Johnson–the family doctor–helped Jay into the manor eventually, since Zoe really did not have the strength to do it.

As she stepped outside of her room after taking a shower, she saw that the door to Jay’s room was still open and that the lights within were lit.

She hesitated for a moment, but she eventually entered.

Rudy actually had to hook Jay to an IV bag, and the man’s face was pale white as he lay in bed.

He looked less like a drunk man than someone really sick.

Still, his eyes were closed, so he must be asleep.

“Ms. York.” Rudy greeted her respectfully when he saw her.

“How is he?” Zoe asked.

“Alcohol overdose. Let’s see if he improves after I hook him to an IV, but we have to send him to the hospital for a gastroscopy tomorrow if he does not. We have to observe if other gastric conditions are triggered.”

“Is it that serious?”

“Mr. Parker has always had minor gastritis, and he doesn’t usually drink too much,” Rudy said. “His body naturally couldn’t take all the alcohol he shoved into his body tonight. Tell him to ease up on his drinking next time.

“Yeah,” Zoe replied. “How will the drip last him?”

“Around two hours.”

But it was already 1 AM, and Jay still had work tomorrow…

“Don’t worry, Ms. York. I’ll be staying with Mr. Parker.”

Zoe nodded and left, but she could not fall asleep even as she lay in bed.

All she could think about was Jay as he kept drinking with Bob, and that on each occasion, it would always be when Bob was going to drink with her…

She kept herself wrapped up tightly in her blanket.

He should not have given her hope!

Under the same moon, John gave Cordy a ride home, although he fell asleep halfway.

Seeing that he was not awake even when they arrived below her apartment, Cordy gestured at the chauffeur before gingerly opening the door.

Just as she was about to get out of the car, John suddenly grabbed her by the wrist and she was firmly pulled into his embrace the next instant!

He stank of alcohol, but it did not sting the nose that much because of his usual pine scent.

Nonetheless, Cordy wiggled–he should be asleep!

“Let me go!” she protested. “I’m already home. You should head home soon too.”

John looked outside with an unfocused gaze just then, and it took a while for him to realize that they had really arrived outside her apartment.

“I’ll walk you upstairs,” he said.

She refused. “It’s already very late.”

“That’s why I’m going with you. It’s late,” he insisted. “It’s unsafe.”

Cordy was speechless.

He was exactly the reason why it was unsafe!

Nonetheless, she alighted with him and watched as he walked ahead steadily.

Did she actually imagine that he was drunk?

Soon, they arrived outside her door, and Cordy said, “This is it. You can go now.” “Okay.”
