A Life Debt Repaid By Cheng Xiaocheng Chapter 500

Chapter 500

From the outset, it was only Jessica who was in love with John-in fact, all those

terrible things she had done was for his sake.

Yet, did John not feel guilty towards her current predicament at all?

“I do, but not as much as you’d think,” John admitted. “I can’t pretend to ignore her

repeated attempts to have you killed.”

“But she’s serious about you-’

“You matter more than I do,” John said determinedly.

In other words, he was willing to take anything Jessica threw at him, not Cordy.

Cordy’s heart skipped a beat, and she got a little emotional from John’s

protectiveness.

John in turn raised a brow and asked, “What, you’d rather I be nicer to her?”

He was obviously scrawny now, but he still had the visage of a self- important CEO.

Did he think he still was one? His family’s estate was almost completely sold off!

“No,” Cordy replied nonetheless.

“Really?”

Cordy shrugged. “I was just checking.”

John’s lips curled upwards. “Did you know, Cordy? You make me happy when you get

so petty.”

Cordy thought to herself that there was something really wrong with him. Nonetheless,

she didn’t stay with him for that long and soon left the detention center.

She turned moody as soon as she was out, since John only had twelve days left.

What would happen? Would he go free, cleared of all charges?

Cordy was laden with considerable stress and unease as the next twelve days

passed. It wasn’t the weekend either, so she had to take Dicky to school before going

to the courthouse.

“Mommy? Is something on your mind?” he asked, looking up at her with his little eyes.

“What is it?” Cordy forced a smile.

“You brought me fresh milk when I asked for yogurt, and gave me my winter uniform

when I told you we need our spring uniform since we have an event today. You usually

talk and smile when you drive me to school, but you look so serious today. What

happened?”

Dicky listed everything succinctly, so Cordy had to hastily come up with a reason.

“I don’t think I slept well last night.”

It was the truth-she hardly slept last night, and was quite tired today.

Naturally, she was also unusually nervous because John’s trial was today.

However, she didn’t tell Dicky about that, since children shouldn’t have to worry about

the affairs of adults.

He just had to be the carefree child he was…

Nonetheless, Dicky suddenly asked, “Is Daddy’s trial today, Mommy?” novelbin

Cordy did a double take-so trying to hide it from Dicky was a slap to her own face?

But how did he find out?

Dicky seemed to read her mind, and said nonchalantly, “I read the news too, Mommy.”

“I’m sorry. I just didn’t want you to worry.”

“I’m not worried, Mommy. Daddy’s awesome-he will be fine. You don’t have to worry.”

His son was assuring her instead.

Cordy patted his little head in turn. “Alright, I won’t worry.”

They alighted when they arrived at Dicky’s school. She walked with him to the front

gates, before he waved him goodbye.

Cordy’s vision blurred as she watched him go, and she wondered if they would be

reunited with John after today.

Never had she looked forward to being reunited like this.

However, after she had Dicky, her desire for her happiness grew stronger.

‘Don’t disappoint me today, John Levine…’
