Chapter 89

Cordy glanced at John.

She had much to say, but was reluctant to say it in front of Richard.

As for Richard, he did not dare to ask more questions under John’s watchful eye.

Still, Cordy stayed there for lunch and coaxed Richard into taking a nap before leaving.

John rode home with her at the backseat, with Hendy driving.

The car was quiet until Cordy spoke. “John.”

“Yeah.” He turned toward her.

“I may have a blemished past,” she said. “But I’m not a loose woman either.”

John said nothing, but he was obviously taken aback.

“I understand that you’re successful and women would love you, even throw themselves at you. I also wouldn’t deny that anyone likes beautiful things, and neither you nor her might be at fault too -but it’s against my principles. I’ll be fine if we all stay as friends, but I won’t try to go further for anything else.”

The car just happened to stop below Cordy’s apartment block just then and she opened the door, striding away right then and leaving John looking utterly bamboozled.

He then turned toward Hendy. “What was she talking about?”

Hendy was quiet for a moment as he tensed up-he was too old to understand the young ‘uns troubles in love.

But judging from what Cordy was saying….

“Perhaps she’s suggesting that you’re too fickle, sir?” Hendy said gingerly.

“Am I, now?” John asked, raising a brow.

“You do look that way, sir… I mean, you’re so handsome that the ladies might feel insecure.”

John was speechless.

In other words, everything was his fault!

Whether he kissed her…

Exposed himself in front of her…

And now, being good looking!

Nonetheless, Cordy was busy after things ended on a ‘sour note’ with John, since they were busy with Starstream Fashion’s autumn collection hitting the market.

John never approached her ever since, and she had no idea if John understood what she was

telling him the other way.

Either way, things had cooled off between them.

Be that as it may, she was still a little nervous as she sat in her office.

They had done everything they could to advertise and build hype for their autumn collection, while Zoe was certainly enthusiastic too. Aside from the photoshoots, she would also wear Starstream- branded clothes as she casually strolled down the streets, even posing for the paparazzi so that they took more

photos of her in those clothes, with the media dubbing her the ‘most diligent. brand ambassador’ on one occasion.
