Chapter 1049

Zoe and Jay enjoyed the great romance in the room throughout the day.

They were woken up by the alarm the next day.

Both of them had put their phones on silent mode and ignored the news. Although they knew that the effects were rather good at the scene, no one knew how the incident would end in the end. However, that seemed not to be their concern at all. They cared more about how to get a basketball team.

However, Zoe had forgotten to turn off her alarm, as she had previously set it for the shooting of the show.

She knitted her brows.

Though her whole body was greatly sore, she still forced herself to narrow her eyes and fish for her phone.

At that instant, Jay was also awakened by the noise. He was about to get up to turn off the alarm for her, but Zoe got it first.

She half narrowed her eyes to turn it off. When she was about to continue sleeping, she noticed quite a lot of missed calls on her phone.

After dwelling on it briefly, she casually checked on them.

The most recent call was from Cordy.

Cordy would generally not call Zoe so early in the morning because she knew that Zoe had the habit of sleeping in. At that moment, Zoe seemed to have regained her wits.

Noticing Zoe’s reaction, Jay asked hoarsely and nervously, ’What’s the matter?”

“Cordy called me several times.” While talking, Zoe called Cordy back. ’ Something must have happened.’

Jay also sat up in bed in that instant and got up to take his phone.

Cordy had called him too.

She failed to reach Zoe, so she would certainly call Jay.

It meant that something must have happened.

“I can’t reach her.’ Zoe looked at Jay. “Did something happen to her? She’s been in the capital all this while. I don’t even know what she’s doing there!”

“Maybe it wasn’t her who got into trouble,” Jay said directly.

Suddenly, his expression became slightly solemn.

’I think something might have happened to the Levine family,” Jay stated before he called Cora.

He had at least ten missed calls from Cora.

Zoe’s heart skipped a beat, but she felt inevitably calm.

Suddenly, she felt that she could accept many things calmly.

“Uncle Jay, why didnt you answer my calls?” The moment Cora answered the phone, she burst into tears.

“What happened?” Jay was aloof.

‘ My mom, she… she…” Cora stammered for a long while.

“What happened?” Jay became impatient.

“She tried to kill herself!’

Jay’s expression changed.

The volume of the phone was loud, so Zoe could hear Cora’s words in the quiet space.

She looked at Jay in shock.

Nancy was such an arrogant person. How would she try to kill herself?

’How’s her condition now?” After a brief panic, Jay questioned calmly.

“She was rushed to the hospital, and they’re still trying to save her now. She’s still in the operating room. I’m now at the hospital. Uncle Jay, can you come? I’m very scared here all alone. I don’t know whom I should call. Hmm…’ Cora became desperate.

She sounded like her world had collapsed and there was no one she could rely on.

If something happened to her mother, she did not know how she could survive.

“Is it First Hospital in North City?”

’Hmm.” Cora sobbed piteously while giving an answer.

’I’ll come right away.”

Jay hung up the call, then got out of bed with difficulty and put on his clothes.
