Chapter 782

Jay quickly offered, “I’ll take you home.”

Zoe immediately declined. “It’s alright. I can just take a cab.”

“That’d be inconvenient. You’re quite famous now.”

“I just need a disguise.”

“Just wait a moment. I’ll get changed,” Jay insisted, not giving her a chance to refuse. ’

“You’re a cripple and you can’t drive. How are you going to take me anywhere?” Zoe said bluntly, and Cora was stunned by her insulting outburst.

How could she say cripple on a whim? No one around Jay ever said it for years!

“I can go back on my own,” Zoe added determinedly, not caring about the looks others were giving her.

“I can give you a ride,” Bob suddenly said. “I happened to bring my car.”

Cora was slightly irked, since it was her boyfriend who would be getting in a car with another woman.

However, Bob simply continued, “Cora, wait for me here. I’ll be back to take you and Jay once I’ve sent Zoe home.”

Then, turning towards Zoe without waiting for anyone’s approval, he told her, “Come on.”

With that, Zoe quietly left with Bob.

She could turn down anyone but him, since she owed him the most.

Cora was staring as they left the apartment together, wondering if she noticed something unusual or if she was just imagining it.

Bob had always treated her well over their three-year relationship. Yet, she had a feeling that he didn’t pay her that much attention.

He would do anything for her and give her the world if she asked; yet, if she said nothing, he wouldn’t lift a finger.

And yet, here he was, offering to send Zoe home.

“Don’t worry. There’s nothing between them,” Jay suddenly said bluntly.

He said that despite his jealousy towards Bob for having Zoe’s tenderness.

The ride home was awkward, even though Zoe and Bob had cleared the air once she returned to North City.

Even so, it still felt uncomfortable being together alone with him in the same place-it was really difficult to stay friends after breakups.

It was why one should never cross the line so lightly.

Nonetheless, as they stopped before a red light, Bob

suddenly turned towards Zoe and asked, “So, you’re getting back together with Jay?”

“No,” Zoe replied.

“No? You spent the night at his place.”

“Were you doubting what he said?”

“Are you treating me like a kid, Zoe?”

“It’s just facts,” Zoe said bluntly.

“Well, I heard Jay’s been protective of you in ‘Actors on Set’.”

Zoe laughed. “Well, we are acquainted-can’t exactly treat each other like strangers. Surely you were hoping I didn’t do well after I cheated on you?”

“You and your horrible mouth…” Bob shook his head, and continued driving as the lights turned green.

Zoe beamed prettily. “Then let’s just stop talking.”

“I mean, there’s nothing wrong with Jay,” Bob said.

Zoe was speechless.

There were plenty of fish in the sea—why did it have to be Jay?!

If anyone wanted to get back together with a former flame, they could do it all they want.

As for Zoe, she would still refuse!
