She thought she was going to die, and the moment she saw him was like seeing her savior. His familiar scent made her feel at peace. She clutched tightly onto his clothes and didn’t let go.

Pei Ziheng squatted down and checked her up and down. “Where is the injury, you’re bleeding?”

Xia Ling was uneasy and confused. “I, I don’t know.” There was no more anger in her tone.

Pei Ziheng looked at her carefully again and found that there was a lot of dirt near her thigh behind her skirt. He asked, “How do you feel near where you’re bleeding? Does it hurt?”

She shook her head. “I was just sitting here and when I got up, there was a lot of blood, but it doesn’t hurt.” She thought for a while before saying softly, “It seems like, seems like my stomach hurts a little. Brother Pei, am I... going to die?”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” he said in a low tone and seemed to understand what was going on. Although he was a man, he was not without the facts of life, and he had some rough understanding of a woman’s private matters. A large stone seemed to fall to the ground from his heart. It was good as long as she wasn’t injured. Gently, he comforted her. “It’s alright. It’s just a little bit of a problem. I’ll bring you home and let Nanny Zhou handle it.”

“Nanny Zhou?” she asked in confusion. She had lost so much blood, didn’t she need a doctor?

“Yes, Nanny Zhou.” Pei Ziheng was still very gentle. “I already said it’s alright, there’s no need for a doctor. Nanny Zhou will take good care of you. Then, you’ll go to bed obediently and I’ll get the doctor to look at your fever.”

“Okay.” Hearing this, she was suddenly not so scared anymore. She held onto his hand and got into the car.

At the back seat of the comfortable car, Pei Ziheng reached out and wanted to pull her into his arms.

She whispered, “I’m dirty.”

Pei Ziheng said, “It doesn’t matter.” He carefully pulled her in and put a blanket over her body.

The two of them didn’t mention the quarrel they had during the day and she fell asleep groggily in his arms. When they arrived at the villa, he woke her up and handed her to Nanny Zhou. Nanny Zhou had already prepared the toiletries. She helped her take a shower and kindly told her what was going on during her menstruation.

Xia Ling understood that every girl would go through this process.

Thinking back of how she had thrown herself into Pei Ziheng’s arms out of fright, she felt her face burn red.

It was so embarrassing... she simply didn’t have the face to see him.

She went back to lay on her bed in embarrassment and the family doctor came to take her temperature and prescribe medicine for her. She took the medicine and fell asleep for a day and night. She only woke up several times to drink a little porridge.

On the third day at sunset, she was completely awake.

“Where’s Brother Pei?” She regained some of her spirits and asked Nanny Zhou while drinking medicine on her bed.

Nanny Zhou said, “Sir has gone to the company to handle business. Sir was very worried when you ran out in anger and has delayed many of his original schedules. So he’d been exceptionally busy these two days.”

Xia Ling was shocked. “He delayed his schedule?”

“Of course,” Nanny Zhou said, “Miss, Sir was so worried about you, he sent the butler to follow behind you. Why else do you think he could have found you so soon?”

“I...” Xia Ling didn’t know what to say. That day, she had felt so wronged and so angry. She’d thought he didn’t care about her anymore. Who would have expected that he actually did care about her? Warmth spread in her heart and she felt a little guilty. How much trouble did she add to him?

She heard Nanny Zhou say, “Miss, Sir has never been close to his brothers and sisters. He’s used to being alone and doesn’t know how to interact with others. In fact, he’s very good to you. You have to be more considerate of him and don’t squabble with him, or he’ll be very sad.”

Xia Ling nodded and felt even more guilty.

At night, she laid on her own small bed and didn’t sleep. She waited until one o’clock for Pei Ziheng to come back home, exhausted. Separated by the screen, she noticed the soft bedroom lights lit up and heard the rustling sound of his undressing and the opening of the bathroom door. Finally, he came out of the bathroom and was ready to go to bed.

She got up from her little bed and walked out of the screen.

“Brother Pei,” she said softly.

Pei Ziheng turned round to look at her and was a little shocked. “Xiao Ling, why haven’t you slept yet?” He was wearing a black satin gown casually, and beads of water flowed down his exposed chest. He looked sexy and physically beautiful.

Xia Ling had never noticed this before, but tonight for some reason, she blushed slightly.

“I, I...” She paused and unnaturally averted her gaze. “I’ve come to apologize to you. I shouldn’t have thrown a temper that day and caused you to worry.”

So it turns out to be for this matter.

Pei Ziheng smiled. “You know your wrong?”

“Yes.” She still didn’t dare to look at him.

Pei Ziheng only thought she was feeling unwell, so he stepped forward and pulled her head to measure her temperature with the palm of his hand. “Your fever has gone down,” he said. “But why is your face still so red?”

Her face turned even redder and she turned and ran away.

Pei Ziheng was stunned. He thought about it and figured that it was probably because the little girl had just apologized to him and was feeling shy, so he didn’t put it to heart. He was in a good mood. He went to his bed and soon fell asleep.

Xia Ling tossed and turned and could not sleep well the whole night.

The second day, she said to Pei Ziheng, “Brother Pei, I’ll listen to you and attend day school.”

“You’ve come round?”

“I’ve come round,” Xia Ling said, but her mood was still somewhat low. “I shouldn’t have let you worry about me when you’re already so good to me.” For every hour that was wasted on the road, she would compensate for it by sleeping one hour less.

Pei Ziheng seemed to see through her mind. “You prefer to live on campus, right?”

She hesitated and nodded.

Pei Ziheng poured a glass of milk for her and watched as she drank it little by little. Although the little girl was willful, she would blame herself over him, and this made Pei Ziheng feel an inexplicable satisfaction in his heart. As a form of reward, he said, “Then live on campus.”

“What?” Xia Ling raised her head in shock.

“I’ll talk to the people from the Training Camp and make them chase Li Bingman out of the independent dormitory,” Pei Ziheng said.

Actually, deep down, he still didn’t want her to live on campus. But the day she had a fever, the family doctor had said that the body of Miss was not good and her physique was weak. If she were to have high-intensity training for a long time and then go back and forth to school and home, all this running around would cause her to get sick easily.

After listening to all these, Pei Ziheng had started to consider letting her live on campus. The reason why he had waited until today to tell her was that he was still reluctant. More importantly, she had bowed her head to him yesterday. This meant that she was willing to give up her insistence for him, which was a good sign.

Xia Ling’s mind was not as complicated as his, so she only felt moved. “Brother Pei, you’re so good.”

Pei Ziheng said warmly, “Let Nanny Zhou pack your luggage, then go to school and find Principal Sha first. He will accompany you to drive out Li Bingman.” If his little girl was to go back, she would go back gloriously. Who cared about Li Bingman? If she had offended Xia Ling, then she had to pay the price.
