Chapter 65: Cooking For Him Just Once
Just as Moh Yanchen and Wu Hao finished their conversation, they heard a noise coming from the kitchen. Moh Yanchen raised his head to look at the second floor then walked towards the kitchen.
The smell of delicacies wafted from inside. The aroma tingled his nostrils, causing his appetite to soar.
He leaned against the door and looked at the petite figure busying herself inside. Shen Chengjing had gathered her hair into a ponytail and worn a long sweater. Her sleeves were slightly rolled up, revealing her fair hands. She seemed to be familiar with chopping and stir-frying vegetables, and even hummed a tune from time to time.
“The copper bell sounds under the eaves of the thatched roof. The soup you’re making is still yet to be finished. Wait for me to take over this green bamboo bench and invite passers-by across the fence. When the wine is fragrant, the soup will become mellow...” As Shen Chengjing hummed an ancient song, she felt as if someone was staring at her from behind. She turned her head slightly, still holding the kitchen knife in her hand. Her actions were very comical.
“Uncle? Why are you here?” She put down the kitchen knife and trotted forward, and pressed her hands on his waist. “Hurry up and get out. This is the Shen Family’s exclusive kitchen recipe. You’re not allowed to peek.”
“I’ll look at it openly.”
“...” Her face turned red, and she glared at him. “Go wash your hands. You can have it soon! This is the first time I’ve cooked for you. Hmph, if you don’t behave well, there won’t be a next time.”
She looked fierce, and her fair face was as red as an apple. Her small hands tickled his waist, but he pulled her into his arms.
“Ah!” As she was held in his arms, she breathed in the familiar scent of him. Her face became even redder.
She stopped acting like a pervert and looked at his chest. “The food is going to burn.”
“What are you nervous about?”
She seemed to hear her own heart beating wildly. She felt as if he had seen through her.
She pushed him away fiercely, put her hands on her waist and said as she jogged into the kitchen. “Who’s nervous? One day, when I’m full of energy, I’ll definitely eat you up.”
“Haha, can’t wait for that day.” Moh Yanchen was in a good mood. He turned his head and saw that Mo Qiu, who had unintentionally arrived at the hall, was looking at him as if he had seen a ghost.
“Will it rain fire or will it be an earthquake?” Mo Qiu muttered to himself. Without saying anything, he turned around and grabbed onto his pants to escape the scene.
It was too scary. Moh Yanchen was actually laughing and loudly too?
After all, he and Mo Wen had been together with him for ten years. Moh Yanchen had always been unpredictable, and rarely laughed. Even if he was laughing, the smile never reached his eyes. That laugh was an omen before the storm. It was completely different from the one he just saw.
“La la la, the dishes are done.” Shen Chengjing carried the dishes out and even scooped a bowl of thick soup for him.
Braised eggplant, stir-fried chicken, fish in sour soup, pickled prawns, garlic heart, and bone radish soup were spread across half the table neatly.
“Uncle, please have a seat.” She went forward, gently pushed him onto a chair, and brought the soup forward.
He stared at the bowl of thick soup with his dark eyes and was silent for a long time. Then, he observed her as she introduced the dishes. It was so warm that it felt like home.
“Is it not delicious? That’s impossible.” She saw that he was not moving and took a sip of the soup herself.
“Shen Chengjing.”
“Huh?” It seemed like it was the first time she heard him call her by her first name. He looked very serious.
“Come home more often in the future.”
“Okay.” She could not help but feel nervous when she thought of his appearance last night.
As they were eating, she watched him carefully. She saw that his speed was surprisingly fast, but his movements were elegant. Every time he chewed the food, it was as if he was tasting the best delicacy in the world.
