Chapter 0806 – News Spreads
In the coming days, Li Luo had focused all his attention on conquering the Fiendish Devil Cave.
The vanguard team now consisted of the cream of the crop.
With the elites of the Green Nether Banner coming together, Li Luo led them to charge ahead through the Fiendish Devil Cave. In the short span of three days, they had gone from layer thirty-five to layer thirty-seven.
Among the four banners of Dragon's Fang Lineage, the Gold Light Banner had reached layer forty-three, followed by the Crimson Cloud Banner at layer thirty-nine, and the Violet Spirit Banner at layer thirty-eight. With their current progress, the Green Nether Banner was no longer lagging behind and had caught up into the middle ranks among the Twenty Banners.
In fact, this could be considered Li Luo's greatest achievement since he arrived in the Dragon's Fang Lineage two months ago. After all, they were only at layer twenty-eight when he had first entered the Green Nether Banner.
With such efficiency, not even the pickiest person would have anything to say about his performance.
On the other hand, another piece of news had started spreading amongst the Twenty Banners of the Heavenly Dragon's Five Lineages whilst Li Luo was still drowning in happiness over the Fiendish Devil Cave expeditions.
The Mystical Yellow Dragonbreath Pool would be opening up!
Initially, they had all heard that the Mystical Yellow Dragonbreath Pool would only open up in three years. None of them had expected that there would be a sudden change to things. The Mystical Yellow Dragonbreath Pool was going to open in a month, around the birthday celebration of the Dragon's Blood Lineage’s Lineage Chief.
When the news got out, the Twenty Banners were bubbling with excitement over it, especially the Banner Leaders who stood a chance at obtaining the dragonbreaths. They were elated at this godsent opportunity.
After all, they all knew how exceptional the Mystical Yellow Dragonbreath was. One strand of it alone was worth five thousand strands of abstruse fiend light. How much cultivation time could one save by obtaining one? How many high-grade Fiend Origin Pills would that be?
Even amongst the other Heavenly Emperor bloodlines, not everyone would get the chance to enjoy such an opportunity.
Previously, they had put this aside as the time was not yet ripe. However, who would have expected such a pleasant surprise to suddenly pop up?
Fueled with enthusiasm, all the banners started preparing for this upcoming opportunity.
When Li Luo ended his Fiendish Devil Cave expedition, Zhao Yanzhi strode over with a piece of news.
"Deng Fengxian asked Zhong Ling out for a drink? Is that white-dressed gilded-armor Banner Leader planning to poach our Green Nether Banner members?" Li Luo inquired after hearing the news.
We are , find us on google.
At present, Zhong Ling was being kept idle by Li Luo. However, his strength was still considered one of the top amongst the banners. Deng Fengxian had to be thinking of poaching him.
"Deng Fengxian must be preparing for the Mystical Yellow Dragonbreath Pool next month. If he gets Zhong Ling, who has started to break into the Fiend Finisher Tier, to join the Gold Light Banner, their banner's might will increase considerably," Zhao Yanzhi explained to Li Luo.
"Shall we stop him?" she asked.
Giving it some thought, Li Luo shook his head and replied, "It's always a hidden danger for Zhong Ling to stay with us in the Green Nether Banner. His heart is not with us at all. Even if I choose to let go of my grudges with him, I still hold a lot of mistrust towards him, so it would be better to just let him go. We will feel more at ease like this, and the first division will be truly devoted to us once he is gone.”
In fact, Li Luo had no intention to work with Zhong Ling right from the start. Their enmity was too deep and impossible to reconcile at all.
If Deng Fengxian was willing to take this burden away from him, it would save him a lot of trouble.
Of course, Li Luo would not express any thanks to Deng Fengxian. In fact, his open act of poaching from the Green Nether Banner had caused some friction between the two banners.
Nonetheless, Deng Fengxian was aware of this too. He had chosen to proceed because he needed to increase the strength of the Gold Light Banner for the Mystical Yellow Dragonbreath Pool opening next month. Moreover, he must have thought that with his prestige amongst the four banners of the Dragon's Fang Lineage, he would not have to owe Li Luo any explanation despite the clearly hostile action.
Despite his gentle and warm appearance, he was really of the arrogant sort.
...
"Brother Deng, aren't you afraid of offending the up and coming Banner Leader Li Luo if you openly invite me to the Gold Light Banner like this?" Zhong Ling said jokingly. In the private room of a restaurant, Zhong Ling, who had a pale face, was sitting across from an imposing, white-robed man.
As he poured a cup of hot tea for Zhong Ling, Deng Fengxian replied with a smile, "No matter how popular he is, that's still merely in the Green Nether Banner. It has nothing to do with the Gold Light Banner or Gold Light Hall at all. As long as you are willing to come over, the Gold Light Banner will have your back."
At this moment, Zhong Ling's face remained a little gloomy. After so many setbacks during his confrontation with Li Luo, he had lost quite a bit of his self-confidence. Moreover, Li Luo had gotten the Green Nether Banner under his control now. There would be no future left for him in the Green Nether Banner. Perhaps joining the Gold Light Banner was the only way out.
Although Li Luo was a dark horse, Deng Fengxian remained as the top amongst the young generation of the Dragon's Fang Lineage. Li Jingtao and Li Fengyi had fought against him, but to no avail. To no one’s surprise, they were defeated by him.
Taking a deep breath, Zhong Ling stood up and poured a cup of tea in response. "I'll be in your care from now on, Brother Deng," he answered respectfully.
"With your help, the Gold Light Banner should be able to secure at least one Mystical Yellow Dragonbreath in the Mystical Yellow Dragonbreath Pool next month," Deng Fengxian replied with a grin.
"But wasn't it supposed to be another three years before the Mystical Yellow Dragonbreath Pool was due to be open?" Zhong Ling asked in confusion.
"I heard from the Main Hall Master that this may be related to Li Luo... The old Lineage Chief suddenly changed his position, most likely due to him," Deng Fengxian responded with great interest.
Hearing this, Zhong Ling's eyes flashed as he asked back in surprise, "The Lineage Chief wants to give this opportunity to Li Luo?"
"Guess so," Deng Fengxian replied with a laugh.
At this point, Zhong Ling's eyes were filled with jealousy. "He really is nice to Li Luo," he said with a low voice.
"Ultimately, Li Luo is his grandson. Honestly, the Lineage Chief can already be considered to be quite fair. If not, how could you possibly have competed with him for so long?" Deng Fengxian leisurely said.
"But isn't the Lineage Chief thinking too highly of him?" Zhong Ling said.
"There are six Coiling Dragon Pillars in the Mystical Yellow Dragonbreath Pool. In other words, there are only six chances up for grabs. Although Li Luo and the Green Nether Banner have been on the rise recently, it's still too unrealistic to think he will get one of the six chances, right?" Zhong Ling lamented.
With a slight smile, Deng Fengxian replied to him, "Who knows? Banner Leader Li Luo has surprised us multiple times since he arrived in the Dragon's Fang Lineage."
Zhong Ling sneered and said, "What does it matter if he dominates the Green Nether Banner? The leaders of the other banners will not give in to him. Countless people will attend the birthday celebration of the Mountain Ruling Lineage Chief next month. Let's see if Li Luo can grasp the opportunity that the Lineage Chief has prepared for him in front of everyone. If not, there will be a really good show to watch."
When he ended his sentence, Zhong Ling finished up the hot tea in his cup. At this point, there was happiness in his eyes, as though he had already seen Li Luo's pathetic ending in a month's time.
