Chapter 1096: Wu Changkong
The golden flying leaf thath carried Wu Changkong was the center of attention as it made its way to a quiet courtyard deep within the college.
Waiting in the courtyard was a figure standing with hands behind his back, casting his gaze over at him.
It was none other than Vice Principal Wu Yu.
Wu Changkong stepped off the golden leaf slowly. He was tall and gave off a heroic presence. His eyes were light blue and occasionally flickered with light, giving him a mystical look.
Giving off a forceful aura, as his eyes swept across the field. As one of the Heavenly Star Hall's elites, there was no doubt that he was excellent in terms of talent and potential. Even the Principal and vice principals had expressed their praise towards his strength and felt that he could go far.
Wu Changkong was at the Peak of the Greater Heavenly Resonance Tier and possessed dual resonances: a lower ninth-grade One Legged Mountain Ox Demon resonance and a fire resonance. Ever since he had ascended to the top of the Heavenly Star Hall, no matter how the rankings beneath him shuffled, there was no one who was a threat to him. His long tyrannical tenure at the top had cemented his prestigious position within the hearts of the students.
He was truly the brightest star in the Heavenly Origin Ancient College.
Additionally, he was adept at managing his influence, so his words carried a lot of weight amongst the student populace. In fact, some even privately called him the Junior Principal.
"Great Grandfather." Wu Yu respectfully greeted Vice Principal Wu Yu.
When Wu Yu saw Wu Changkong, a slight smile surfaced on his face. It could be seen that he was very satisfied with this young man from his family. Their relationship had nothing to do with all his accomplishments.
The way Wu Yu saw it, Wu Changkong's achievements were comparable to those of the Inheritance Seedlings that were specially raised by the Heavenly Emperor powers. He would definitely become a Duke in the future and might even gain the opportunity to reach the King Stage. In that case, their clan would shine even more brightly.
Although they did not have a Heavenly Emperor sitting at the helm, their foundation was no weaker. And by relying on the Academic Federation, they were not afraid of the Heavenly Emperor powers at all.
"Welcome back. Did your mission go smoothly?" Vice Principal Wu Yu asked.
"It was just a minor thing. I was just bored and wasting some time." Wu Changkong gave a slight smile. "The college released an urgent recall and thus I hurriedly returned. I just don't know what exactly it's for."
Wu Yu's expression turned serious as he gave him a rundown of the situation.
"Fifth Minor Earthly Branch Realm, All-Being Ghostly Skin Dominion, and the All-Being Ghostly Skin Dominion..." Wu Changkong murmured to himself.
Even with his personality, his expression turned heavy. "This mission should be the hardest one this year."
"Why else would we look to the Hallowed Coruscation Ancient College for assistance?" Wu Yu said.
"Well, I'm interested in competing with the Heavenly Star Hall of the Hallowed Coruscation Ancient College. I heard that there are some interesting individuals. It would be great if we could meet each other."
Wu Yu nodded his head and said, "Competing with the top youths of each generation is indeed a great way to hone yourself. In fact, another one has emerged during this year's academic evaluation."
Wu Changkong didn't show much concern towards that comment. In his eyes, although the sage colleges couldn't be described as trash, they were mediocre at best.
A genius would occasionally rise, but due to their cultivation conditions and lack of resources, they were unable to catch up to those at the top.
"It is a pity," Wu Changkong casually replied. The way he saw it, even if someone was an exceptional talent, they were still limited by being in a sage college and would eventually become ordinary.
Wu Yu smirked. "What is there to pity? He is from the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li, the Lineage Chief's grandson."
When Wu Changkong heard this, he was slightly surprised and thought it over for a moment. "Could it be the Empyrean Chronicle's Li Luo?"
It was the most popular and well known list amongst the talents of the Heavenly Origin Divine Continent. As a result, Wu Changkong paid attention to it and was similarly a part of it.
Wu Yu nodded. He then proceeded to explain what Li Luo had done during the evaluation.
"He is not mediocre. If you were of the same generation, he would have been a serious competitor," Vice Principal Wu Yu commented.
Wu Changkong smiled. "He does have some ability. He has considerable backing, and I believe that his incomprehensibly strong Duke Art is above the Soul Ascension-grade. Being able to wield such a Duke Art at his level does show that he is courageous. It reminds me of that one individual in the Heavenly Dragon's Five Guardian Armies."
The fact was that the stronger the Duke Art, the more demanding the requirements to cultivate it. The process was accompanied by danger, and throughout the years he had spent in the ancient college, Wu Changkong had seen several individuals who were unable to gauge their own strength forcefully cultivate higher grade Duke Arts. This led to a backlash, and they were all crippled and left for dead.
Wu Changkong's remarks were like those from a senior looking down on a junior. However, this was normal. With his position as the strongest student of the Heavenly Star Hall, an event like the academic evaluation wasn't worth his time. In his eyes, it was just like watching kids brawl on the playground.
However, Wu Yu's previous words also implied some other things.
"Does this also mean that the Lake Sage College didn't even get a first tier spot?" Wu Changkong asked as he lifted an eyebrow quizzically.
Wu Yu nodded.
Wu Changkong smiled meaningfully. "It looks like Grandfather is going to burst into a rage."
His grandfather was the Lake Sage College's Principal. He was also Vice Principal Wu Yu's relative.
"Their skills are simply inferior to others," Vice Principal Wu Yu casually remarked. He then told Wu Changkong to be cautious when entering the Fifth Minor Earthly Branch Realm and to maintain his vigilance.
Wu Changkong bowed and left. As he left the courtyard, he mumbled to himself, "Li Luo? He is indeed interesting."
His gaze flickered. He knew of his great grandfather's character very well. He would not talk about Li Luo without reason, and since he did, things had become interesting. Wu Changkong thought about it some more before giving a shallow laugh.
"Brother Wu!" As Wu Changkong left the courtyard, a respectful voice called out to him. Several Heavenly Star Hall students who were usually close to him had heard the news and quickly came to find him.
The other students who passed by looked at him with eyes full of awe and respect.
Wu Changkong gave a warm smile as he waved at one of his companions and asked, "I assume the students from the Heavenly Star Hall will serve as squad leaders and form squads for the mission, correct?"
"Yes. We have been busy with this recently. However, the process has been quite irritating. We have to group up with the sage colleges, and some are approaching us due to previous relationships, which is frustrating to deal with," one of the youths with a high ranking complained.
Wu Changkong nodded slightly. "Has Li Luo found a squad yet?"
The youth paused. "Li Luo? Oh, that brat? He has become quite famous over the past few days, and we have not heard of him approaching the Heavenly Star Hall to form a team."
Wu Changkong patted that youth's shoulder as he sighed with emotion. "He is a genius from the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li. His talent is uncommon, so why would he need the help of someone from the Heavenly Star Hall? Wouldn't that be taking him too lightly?"
The youth paused for two seconds before he understood something from Wu Changkong's gaze. He then beamed at him. "I understand, Brother Wu. Why would such an impressive individual need the help of others? He can lead his own squad."
Wu Changkong smirked and turned to leave.
