Chapter 547 - 547 You Might Not Be the Case
547 You Might Not Be the Case
When Mo Rao heard Gu Ci’s words, she glanced at him indifferently before looking at Qu Rou.
“You’re wrong.” Her voice was as cold as ever as she said, “I’ve never relied on anyone else to get to where I am now. I’ve gotten to where I am by myself.”
Qu Rou sneered and was about to retort when Mo Rao spoke again. “However, I think you might not be the case.”
Qu Rou was speechless, and an awkward look flashed across her eyes.
“Mo Rao, what do you mean?” Unwilling to show weakness in front of Mo Rao, she deliberately puffed out her chest and straightened her back.
“What do I mean?” Mo Rao asked. “I think you know what I mean. That gentleman seems to be waiting for you. Don’t you need to go over?”
Upon hearing Mo Rao’s words, Qu Rou subconsciously looked in the direction Mo Rao was looking at just now. As expected, she saw someone standing there and looking in their direction.
“Mo Rao!”
“Qu Rou, since you’ve embarked on this path, are you afraid of me mentioning it?”
“If not for you! How could I have ended up like this?! If not for you!” As she spoke, Qu Rou raised her hand in anger to slap Mo Rao.
Mo Rao was already on guard when Qu Rou raised her hand. When Qu Rou’s palm landed, she reached out and grabbed Qu Rou’s wrist, preventing her hand from falling.
After she forcefully shook off Qu Rou’s hand, Qu Rou lost her balance and she took a few steps back.
“Qu Rou, don’t think that you can bully me just because you have a backer!” Mo Rao warned. “I didn’t do anything to you previously because I didn’t want to stoop to your level!”
“Mo Rao! Let me tell you! You won’t have a good ending! Just you wait!” After Qu Rou said these harsh words, she turned around and walked in the middle-aged man’s direction.
From her back figure, she seemed like she was fleeing. She didn’t seem like the same person who had just said those ruthless words.
As Mo Rao watched Qu Rou leave, her expression darkened. After noticing Gu Ci from the corner of her eye, she regained her composure and said, “I’ve embarrassed myself in front of you just now.”
Gu Ci smiled gently. “No, I think it’s good that your personality is like this. This way, you won’t be bullied.”
After a pause, he continued, “However, what I said just now was a little inappropriate and might cause misunderstandings. I hope you don’t mind.”
When Mo Rao heard Gu Ci’s words, she lowered her eyes slightly and said with a smile, “Do I seem that petty? Don’t worry, I won’t take it to heart.”
Gu Ci wanted to say something, but since Mo Rao had already said so, he couldn’t continue to defend himself.
“Then I’ll pick you up tomorrow?”
Mo Rao shook her head. “No need. Let’s book a place tomorrow.”
The smile on Gu Ci’s face stiffened for a moment, but then he quickly regained his gentle expression. “Alright, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
After Mo Rao and Gu Ci set a time and place to meet tomorrow, Mo Rao got into the car with Zhao Ying and left.
As Gu Ci stood on the spot and stared at the disappearing car, his expression darkened.
“President Gu.” Jack, who stood behind Gu Ci, called out softly.
Gu Ci came back to his senses. After taking a deep look in the direction Mo Rao had left in, he turned around and walked in Jack’s direction.
“I hope the matter can be resolved within three days.”
His voice was cold, and his aura became very imposing. It was completely different from his demeanor in front of Mo Rao.
Jack lowered his eyes and resisted the urge to tremble as he replied, “Yes.”
After getting an answer, Gu Ci leaned back in the backseat and closed his eyes, as if he was unwilling to say anything else.
Jack heaved a sigh of relief when he saw this. Then, he started the car and left in the dark.
The next day, when Gu Ci and Mo Rao were shopping, Fu Ying finally persuaded the top-notch doctor to come to the country.
In order to express his sincerity, when the doctor got off the plane, Fu Ying brought Gu Hai to pick him up personally.
At the airport, Fu Ying and Gu Hai immediately saw Christopher, who was waiting for them.
