Chapter 587: Candidate

No one in the room knows what Arial is thinking. 

All they see was that Arial was silent. 

The other councilors all became even more repressed. 

It was like just by sitting there on the center of the room, there is an invisible pressure coming out of Arialjosei

The two general was used to it. But the other people was not used to it. 

Even though Arial in the New World did not have his million-man army and did not posse the authority like he had possess in the Human Continent, the pressure coming from him is majesty of the Emperor.

It is etched on his bone. Of course, the two generals thought that this is the famous silent treatment of the Emperor.

Giovanni and Santiago was rarely in the imperial court. 

They were used to spending times on the battlefield as such they rarely interacted with the Emperor other than when they meet each other in the battlefield.

But just because they are rarely in court did not mean that they did not know the news in the court.

It is important for them to know the news in the court.

After all, considering their reputation many people wanted to track them down. 

Most of their method is very barbaric and there were many memorials that was presented to the Emperor during the Conquest War hoping for the Emperor to strip them from their position and be punished under the Law 

Because of all this officials, even they knew, they still had to have some eyes and ears in the court so that they would not be executed because of some trumped up charge.

That eyes and ears still is in the Capital even after they retire. So, they knew about the Civil War of the Two Flowers 

They look at each other and remains silent. 

They both have their own thought. 

The two general rushed to the Grand Hall in the morning after having a hot bath in their tents. Fortunately, the cold wind had abated after the sun shows its face.

The reason why they rush to meet with the Emperor is of course because of the matter of the cold and the other matter is of course about the army.

The distribution of soldiers, the duty of each general, the organization of the city guard, the plan moving forward, all of this should be discuss immediately and settled immediately 

If not, this city would easily be taken back. 

They need to expand and conquer the whole state, make it to be the base from where they could take the entire Kingdom.

Nine states excluding Arqua as the capital city. 

It is a weird system. 

But it did not matter. 

All that matter, that they know their job. 

For the two generals, Arial endeavor to the New World was for him to conquer the lands. It is quite amazing when they think about it. 

After all, their Emperor had come alone to this land. 

They never heard of such things in the annals of history about Emperor himself personally coming to a distant land to fight off against the world

While there is no lack of hero kings during the Age of Gods, Emperors that sit in the highest throne rarely fight in the battlefield unless it is a battle that would determine the rise and fall of an Empire

How the Emperor come to the shore of the New World by himself is something that they did not know. What they know however was that Arial did not want to talk about it.

And since the Emperor did not want to talk about it, why would they try to pry it? 

They were his subordinate and there is no reason for the Emperor to explain things to his subordinate.

Of course, the reason Arial did not want to explain is because it is hard to explain the matter of how he arrived on the New World without explaining some of the things that he himself had experience. 

And this thing he had experience is even harder to explain. 

Since both are hard to explain, why try?

How could he explain to them that he was kidnapped by some Thunder Eagle and brought to this land?

Must he told them that a Goddess come to his dream and whisper words to his ears? 

Should he tell them that he might be the incarnation of some prophesized messianic figure for the Thirteen Tribe?

Must he tell them that this matter if the matter of the Gods and the Divine, and that the Darkness that covers the whole area outside of the Shadowlands is an omen of darkly things to come and he is the only one that could fight this Darkness?

That he must conquer the entire Shadowland, acknowledge as its ruler for the Ancient gate to open and for him to gain the weapon to fight against the Darkness.

Even when he said it in his mind it appears like he is praising and venerating himself. It sounds like a story of a raving madman. 

All of this is very hard to explain. 

Arial knows that the two general misunderstood the reasons why he built an army and wanting to conquer the lands. 

And their misunderstanding is reasonable. Arial is after all is regarded as a Conqueror in the Human Continent. He built his empire by conquering kingdoms

It is not so hard to believe that his reason for coming here to the New World was to conquer this land and extoll the reputation of his dynasty for ten thousand years to come.

He could only let the misunderstanding continue.

To the two general, this journey of Arial is another one of his expedition of conquest 

They did not know why their Emperor wanted to conquer such a distant land but seeing all kinds of resources here, they believe that the Emperor coveted the resources here. 

If Arial succeeded in his endeavor, then his name and his dynasty would surpass any other dynasty in the Human Continent since the Age of Gods when the First generation ruled the world.

Inside the room there is people that follow Arial from the beginning of his journey from outside the wall and some of the people that Arial had recruited when he was taking many people under his arms

There is Ragar standing straight looking at the long table in the middle of the room. Even though he is wearing layered clothes, it could not hide his muscly physique. 

He is large and standing with the height six foot five, he is quite tall even among the people inside the Grand Hall.

He is only a few meter short than Arial. His black hair is longer now but it is trimmed neatly. His beard also seems to be tied in an elflock. 

His hazel eyes seem to look toward all the people inside his room. 

A former horse rider of a Warchief, now he is Arial right hand man in the New World

He is someone Arial greatly treasured. 

Ragar is very loyal to him and unlike most of the tribespeople, he is quite cunning. 

He lacks the subtlety in political matters like Silas but he makes up for that in his extensive knowledge of the tribes and their wants and needs

He is brave, cunning but not dishonorable and someone that people could trust. He is always striving for a win-win scenario.

He has talent to become an administrator. Silas on the other hand while he himself did not lacking in his administrative talent, he is more adept at the game of politics.

Arial look at Ragar for a second and then nodded to himself. It seems like some kind of decision had been made in his mind. 

Ragar is not only a capable advisor, he is also very proficient in spearmanship because of his experience as a horseriders of a Warband. 

And he is also quite adept in sailing the sea.

When he was neglected by the Warchief that he had followed, he works in port becoming a sailor traversing the Dark Seas

For now, his position has been a general of the army. 

Ragar did seem to not register the other two generals looking at him. Other than Ragar there is also Lelanc Son of Lervine. 

Arial had asked him to meet with Arun to report. He had quite high hope for this young man

Lelanc is a man in his twenties, with neatly trimmed beard and his hair is straight and wavy. 

Unlike most of the soldiers under General Castile, he did not sport the Elflock on his hair, preferring to let it fly and wave around.

He had deep features and while most soldiers are stocky and bulky, Lelanc seems to break out of the mold. 

He is thin and he spoke gently, amiable and could be count on to deescalate a conflict. 

Like he had first thought, Arial see that this man is more suitable to be a politician then he is in becoming a soldier.

Arial only smiles

'A great man is not born out of comfort. I wanted to see if he could rise to the occasion' That is his thought.
