Under Zhao Yao’s interrogation, Hanako finally began recounting what had actually happened.

To cut the story short, this entire incident resulted from an internal dispute within a powerful Japanese family.

Hanako belonged to the house of Kujyo which was an influential family in Japan. They held multiple consortiums in their hands and were even the secret boss behind multiple secret societies. Their family name was revered and feared by many.

Recently, Hanako’s father health deteriorated and her brother was automatically selected to be his successor. All went well until that fateful day.

Suddenly, Hanako’s father changed his mind and decided to name Hanako as the successor to his empire despite many protests amongst the family.

Hence, her brother immediately sent a group of trusted subordinates to China to send her back to Japan

Hanako knew that she was a sitting duck if she simply complied with her brother’s instructions. She had no idea what was going on in the Kujyo household. She did not know what her brother was plotting behind her back and did not want to leave her fate in the hands of other people.

Thus, she decided to go into hiding before someone came knocking at her door.

To prevent attracting unwanted attention, Harako naturally chose to send Lightning to a pet hospital to ensure her safety.

A few days ago, she received a phone call from her friend in Japan who notified her of the situation there. Her brother had successfully succeeded as the heir and would no longer harass her. Only then did she dare to contact the pet hospital and receive Lightning.

A spate of incidents happened since then. Apparently, her brother was still bent on capturing and sending her back to Japan. Her friend had provided false intel and she could no longer trust him.

Zhao Yao was apathetic to her situation and immediately digressed to another topic, “Then how about the RMB 5,000? I’m sure you can give it to me now.”

Her annoyance flared as she did not expect him to continue pursuing the matter after she had divulged her story. She could not help but asked, “Zhao Yao, are you working at the pet hospital?”

“Nope, I know what you are trying to ask,” Zhao Yao simply waved his hand and continued, “I am known for keeping my word. I had promised Dr. Liu that I would collect the money from you and give it back to her, not a single cent less.”

She set her hands on the table, palms up and explained, “Someone in my family had frozen my account and I really cannot fork out the RMB 5,000 right now.”

“What?” Zhao Yao shook with fury as he exclaimed, “Then why did you promise the money over the phone call? Were you toying with Dr. Liu?”

Hanako stuck out her tongue in embarrassment and said, “I was afraid that you would not come over and deliver Lightning to me if I did not promise this reward. Don’t worry, I’ll deliver the money over once I have them.”

“Why are you sticking out your tongue? Do you think I would forgive you just because you’re acting cute?” Zhao Yao’s temple throbbed with rage as he took out a pen and paper from the drawer, “Write me an IOU!”

“Huh?” Hanako stared blankly at Zhao Yao as she couldn’t comprehend his intention.

Zhao Yao just buried his head in his phone and explained, “I’ll return the money on your behalf first. You must transfer the money to my bank account once you have them. Understand?”

Hanako was left speechless by his actions but still obediently complied with his instructions. RMB 5,000 was just a small sum to her. Even if she cut off all ties with her family, she would be able to find a job and earn enough money to pay it off with her credentials and skills.

Meanwhile, Zhao Yao unwillingly wired over his own money to Dr. Liu. He also left her a message informing her that the cat had been delivered to Hanako. Immediately, he was notified of the completion of the mission. He earned 100 experience points for delivering the cat and an addition 100 experience points for collecting the RMB 5,000.

With the multiplier in effect, Zhao Yao’s BOOK now reflected lv4(1368/5000).

“Not bad, not bad at all.” Zhao Yao’s mouth finally turned into a smile when he saw the experience points earned. He then started contemplating about Hanako’s predicament.

“They sent an apostle over to capture Hanako. This means that either her brother or someone in the family knows about the existence of apostles and supercats. They have even started using them to their advantage. However, Hanako still remained oblivious to all this, even the fact that her dear Lightning is a supercat. I think the situation over at the Kujyo household is more complicated than I imagined.”

Any incident that was entangled with supercats would naturally turn convoluted. This was because of the inherent nature of superpowers, making them impossible to predict and grasp. This was clearly reflected in the incident involving Nekomata.

Zhao Yao finally opened his mouth and said, “Alright, you will have to stay beside me for now. If you stay 5 meters away from me, I guarantee that no one will be able to hurt you.”

Hanako was disgusted by his words and thought,”Even though this guy is a pervert but his strength and powers were no fluke. I believe he would be sufficient before I receive any news from Japan.”

Suddenly, Hanako broached a new topic and asked a question that had been bothering her for a long time, “May I ask if yours and Mami’s abilities are considered superpowers?”

Zhao Yao thought about it and felt that there was nothing to hide. Furthermore, with her staying 5 meters away from him, 24 hours a day and seven days a week, it’s a matter of time before she noticed something weird. Hence, he introduced the entire concept of apostles and supercats to her in a succinct explanation.

“Oh yes, you would be sleeping in my bedroom later.”

Her face instantly turned crimson as she stared at Zhao Yao in both embarrassment and anger, “What ... What are you trying to do? Don’t think that you can take advantage of me just because I’m Japanese.”

Baiquan who overheard Zhao Yao’s words also chipped in and said,”Boss, this girl came all the way to China alone. Now, she has a gang of people hot on her heels, bent on killing her. I don’t think this is ideal.”

“What are you guys even thinking about?” Zhao Yao snapped his finger and explained, “I’m just trying to protect her. Honestly, even with my current skill, I would need you to stay close to me to ensure your safety. I’ll be sleeping in my bed while you sleep on the mattress on the floor.”

Hanako finally heaved a sigh of relief but at the same time cursed when she heard his words, “Selfish man, I predict that you will never get a girlfriend in your life.”

After addressing Hanako’s concern, Zhao Yao took a step out of his bedroom to see Matcha and Roly Poly crowding around the corridor. They dashed towards Zhao Yao when they saw him and exclaimed, “Zhao Yao! Zhao Yao! Where did Princess Qian go? Did you hide her inside your belly?”

Matcha pounced onto Zhao Yao’s calf and rubbed his furry head against Zhao Yao’s leg and pleaded, “Zhao Yao! Zhao Yao! Please release Princess Qian and let me play with her! What about my father-in-law and mother-in-law? You cannot just keep them there forever.”

Roly Poly, who stood behind Matcha, gave Matcha a sinister stare as he thought, “This d*mn cat, how can he steal my lines?”

Zhao Yao shook his leg and replied nonchalantly, “No way. You can play on your own.” All the cats inside the belly shared a rather peculiar personality. Furthermore, their abilities proved to be extremely troublesome if dealt with incorrectly. Trouble awaited if Zhao Yao released them from his belly.

Before Zhao Yao had achieved a strength that would allow him to take them down without breaking a sweat, he would not take the risk of releasing them into his apartment.

“Ahh!” Matcha lay on the floor and rolled from one end to another. Matcha’s cries and shouting flooded the apartment.

“I don’t care! I want Princess Qian!”

“Boohoo! I cannot survive without Princess Qian!”

“Zhao Yao, how can you be so cruel? How can you separate a pair of lovebirds or rather lovecats?’

Roly Poly suppressed the anger raging within him when he observed Matcha causing a ruckus. He added fuel to the fire by saying, “Zhao Yao, no matter what, they are still Elizabeth’s family, her father, mother and sister. I don’t think you should just keep them inside all day.”

Matcha exclaimed, “Elizabeth, say something!”

Elizabeth which was engrossed in her favorite television drama wagged her tail and commented, “I do not care as long as they’re alive.”

Pain gripped Matcha’s chest as he roared, “But they are your parents!”

“I am a cat, I do not have any sorts of familial affection. I was surprised that I even bothered saving them.” She glanced at Matcha and continued, “They kept their mouth shut when Sun Meng wanted me to mate with the handsome but stupid cat.”
