Chapter 204 Change of Clothes

Chapter 204 Change of Clothes

As Sera began walking away from the construction site, Lilith quickly ran after her. A lot has happened in these past hours that Sera had no idea about.

They walked side by side for a few minutes. The area near the construction site was packed with thousands upon thousands of people. Some were soldiers, some were construction workers, some were devotees, but most of them were simple civilians.

Luckily they didn't yet realize who she was, so they got past the crowd easily.

Sera told David and Cassandra, that she was going to inspect the defenses, but that was a lie. After about ten minutes of silence, she subtly motioned for Lilith to lead her to the Angelic Order's hideout.

The large underground structure was in the middle of the city, quite far from their current position. Luckily they managed to catch a ride from a nearby convoy that was making its way to the western side of the city.

They didn't question where Sera was going with a random priest, and they tried not to stare at her weird choices of clothes.

Stay tuned for updates on empire

Sera was still emotionless, but even her nerves were reaching their end. It was really annoying that everyone kept staring at her, but she couldn't use her armor since her essence regen would decrease by a lot.

Without much choice she and Lilith got off a bit sooner than anticipated. They entered a random clothing store.

The building only recently opened up, since everyone hid in their homes for the battle happening a few kilometers away. The store was mostly empty with only a pair of cashiers talking to each other.

Sera approached them with Lilith a few steps behind. She already placed her hood back on and her arms were hidden in the long sleeves of her robe. From Sera's angle nothing could be made out of the girl.

The shopkeepers were both female about the same age or a bit younger than Sera. While walking towards them, they looked her up and down once, then began to snicker and giggle between themselves.

Lilith made an annoyed grunt behind Sera, but she made no move or said nothing. Instead she watched with a hidden smirk what's about to happen.

It was clear that neither of the civilian girls recognized Sera, they didn't even seem to know that she was an evolved.

Eventually Sera stopped a few meters away and looked down at the two girls. They were short, not as much as Lilith, but their height wasn't even close to Sera's own.

Their hairs were made of different colors, one had a mix of golds and browns. The other was more colorful, with the chosen colors being red, green and black. Their clothes were the same revealing style as Cassandra's, which probably meant they cared about fashion.

They both were above average, but not particularly beautiful. At least that's what Sera thought, but her view of beauty was quite skewed, since she was always with evolved who were generally better looking than normal people.

In reality the two girls were close to the best looking a regular human could get, which begs another question... How haven't they noticed the discrepancy between their own and Sera's looks?

From Lilith's standpoint it was like comparing a goblin to a god... She most definitely didn't have any biased towards her Goddess... That would never happen!

"I hope you are here to by a whole new wardrobe, because what you are wearing is probably the ugliest outfit I have ever seen." Said the blond and brown haired one, causing the other to giggle.

"Yes actually. As you can see my outfit is indeed hideous. Could you perhaps provide me with anything more appropriate for my standing?" The two girls looked at each other and burst out laughing.

"What kind of standing would someone with this sense of style have?" This time the colorful haired one spoke.

"Well, if you really want to know I'm Seraphine, nice to meet you." The two girls suddenly stopped snickering and stared at Sera for a while. After a few seconds they both began to laugh again, clearly not believing anything Sera said.

"Yeah, sure! And I'm The Terror of The West, Amygdala, nice to meet you too!" Said the colored haired girl, not noticing that at some point her friend stopped laughing. The blonde haired one stared at Sera with pure horror.

The girl was about to make another offensive remark, when the blonde haired on punched her on the arm.

"Hey! Why did you do that?!" The blond haired girl didn't answer, she just stared at the emotionless Sera with fear.

Seeing her friend's reaction, reality set into the other girl and they both waited for their sentence. Sera just rolled her eyes and was about to say something, but Lilith thought that their torture shouldn't end so soon.

"I think both of you should kneel and ask for forgiveness from my Lady!" Only now did they notice Lilith standing a step or two behind Sera. They instantly recognized the robe and the seven pointed star.

This was the last evidence they needed and without further ado, they both went down on the floor. They kneeled close to the ground and put their foreheads on the store's floor.

"P... Please... Spare us!" Said the blond. "We... We had no idea... It will never happen again!" Spoke the other.

"Do you think this is begging? Are you even sorry?" Asked Lilith with a cruel smirk.

Both girls burst out in tears and they both began to beg much more thoroughly.

"Please Lady... We didn't know any better!... We are just two dumb girls..." Said one of them between sobs. The other couldn't even speak, she was crying so hard.

"I don't think that's enough... How about I send you both to eternal sleep..." Before Lilith could say anything else, Sera finally cut in.

"ENOUGH!" She turned towards Lilith, who finally noticed that she went too far.

"Lilith we had already talked about this! This is your second mistake two times in a day! Am I really that worthless to you?... ANSWER ME!" Hearing Sera's shout Lilith's bones trembled.

This was something she never felt before. It was horrible. Worse than anything she ever felt. Lilith knew that Sera wasn't really angry, only disappointed, which made it even more awful.

"No, my Lady!... You are the most important person for me!" She said it with pure fear and devotion, fully expecting anything Sera would ask of her. Even if she got thrown out of the Order, her devotion wouldn't lessen.

*Sigh* "Dammit Lilith... You have to act better then them! That's the whole point of the Order! We don't fight and act like they do! We do everything not just to defeat them, but defeat them while staying on the moral high-ground!... What's the point of this war, if we lose ourselves fighting it?"

Lilith slowly looked up at Sera. Her face wasn't angry like she thought it would be, or even disappointed, but concerned and worried. Sera slowly reached out one hand and placed it on Lilith's shoulder.

"What happened Lilith? This isn't how you usually behave." Her voice was full of kindness and warmth, nothing like how she previously spoke.

It was so surprising, that Lilith's mask broke for a moment and a small tear exited her eyes.

"My Brothers and Sisters... They died... I couldn't protect them..." With these few words, the mask fully disappeared and she began crying.

Sera wasn't exactly sure what she was talking about, but she knew that it was neither the time or place to ask for specifics. Instead she just leaned forward a bit and gave Lilith a big motherly hug, letting Lilith cry on her shoulder.

They spent the next few minutes like that, but eventually it was time to leave. Sera quickly gathered a few clothing items and changed into them.

She wore a black leather jacket, with a pair of black jeans combined with black military style boots and a t-shirt that had some band's name written on it. It had a skull, which she liked.

While she changed clothes Lilith made sure to pay a lot of money as compensation for the two cashiers. The only real issue was that Lilith had no real concept of what anything's worth, and she was using Sera's watch to pay.

They left the store a few minutes later. Leaving enough money for the girls, that they wouldn't need to work for the rest of their lives.

After Sera and Lilith left the two of them just sat down in their chairs and stared at the ceiling. They were really fucking confused about what the hell just happened, and now they had no idea what to do.

Eventually a few hours later they closed down the store, and went home. After this event they and their family's became deep believers in the Angelic Order, and they would even volunteer to be part of Heaven's Army...

But that won't happen for a long time yet...
