Another Stupid Isekai

Chapter 184

Chapter 184

After waking up straight on the street, I did some stretching. Tam was sitting next to me and waiting, and next to him laid my weapon.

It was very early. Most of the people were still asleep. I noticed few guards walking here and there, keeping watch. There was also Amit preparing a bunch of hunters for departure, probably to scavenge crystals.

There was no sign of Hatta, Will, or Blue. I immediately thought they are somewhere talking up the details of what we are gonna do from now on.

I went to the device, to grab some grain for him, and as I was shopping I noticed that I actually have one class point left on my account.

I used it immediately to get Fire elementalist class. It had three skills: 'Control flame', 'Create flame', 'Mana'. I boosted all of them to level three.

- Morning Peter - said Marcella.

She was already looking after injured people.

- Hi.

- Do you mind helping me a bit? Some of the people here could use your healing magic.

- Sure.

She led me from bed to bed, and I helped as much as I could. Then I left. I fed Tam and watched him eat for a while. His beak was making this clicking noise every time. When he was done, I went to pick up my pudao, and he used that, to jump on my shoulder.

I got a bit surprised, but I just accepted it. Then I left to hunt some orcs.

It took me around half a day, but in the end, I was pretty sure there are no enemies left in the city. I killed a few and picked up their crystals. Then I started heading back, passing by few heavily guarded groups of scavengers.

When I reached the city center, people were in the middle of giving out the food. Many were already eating, sitting on the cobblestone. I scanned the crowd for Hatta, but he wasn't there, so I went to check the tent, but he wasn't there either.

Going with Marcella's advice, I headed to the headquarters of Wuxia. There wasn't even a single guard keeping watch before the office, so I went inside. I found Hata, Boris, Blue, Aisha, and Will there, in the middle of talking.

- Good that you finally came here - said Boris.

His left arm was gone, only the sleave was hanging, but he looked surprisingly good. Like it was an old wound, not something he received a couple of days ago.

Will was looking at Tam, standing on my shoulder, with a wide grin, but he didn't say a thing.

- I went to clean up the city. I think there aren't any orcs left around.

- Good. We were just discussing our next moves. Let me bring you up to speed - said Hatta. - We will be sending out scout groups to look if it's safe to hunt. Then we will get some crystals, to fix what we lost, and build up our defenses. We need to be ready in case if something similar was to happens again.

I kept nodding to his words.

- Then we will designate people to keep watch on the gates. Blue has an idea about the signaling system. Jayadeva will work on that, and Rishi will focus on equipment. We didn't talk with them yet, but I'm sure they will agree. We need to regain our strength - he continued.

- We not only need to regain it but actually get stronger, so a massacre like that will never happen again - said Blue. - But, as Hatta already mentioned, we need to scout ahead first. You are the fastest person around. Can we count on you?

- Yeah. Just take care of Tam for me. I'll go and check the goblin territory, up to the canyon, and return as soon as possible.

- Good. Thank you, Peter - said Hatta. - And don't worry about your friend, we will take care of it.

- Tam, come - said Aisha.

To my surprise, Tam jumped down from my shoulder and ran to her. She picked him up.

- Bawk.

- Then I see you later, I guess.

- Bawk!

- Yes. You too, Tam.

I said and left. I did a bit of shopping, getting the necessary things, and left. I used shadow walk to climb one of the buildings and then ran on the roofs of those few structures that remained still more or less intact. I did it to look for orcs because there was a chance that we missed a bunch.

But I didn't see any, all the way to the gate. It was already late, so I actually had to run, to make it at least to the goblin cave before the night.

The barricade, our little monument, was gone. The rubble, and pieces of wood, lied everywhere around. Orcs just destroyed it. The boss definitely could do such a thing with his monstrous strength.

I passed the gate and went into the woods. I noticed few signs of the march of an orkish army. Scratched on the trees, marks on the ground left by many heavy footsteps. I followed this path and entered the goblin territory.

At first, I couldn't see any of them around, but soon first groups appeared here and there, just like the invasion never happened. I wanted to find my answers. W needed to know what really happened, but I didn't have any clues. Maybe Uhm's knew something or maybe could find something in the second tome of the manual. Those two things were on my mind all the way to the goblin cave.

I was so lost in my thoughts, that I actually killed the guards. And then I saw something strange. Silver-haired wolf went out of the cave. I recognized that animal immediately. It was the same one, that observed me and Will when we tried to clear the wolf's den for the first time.

Then, in a blur, it changed into a green, little goblin.

- Let's talk - it said to me in perfect English, although the voice was very screechy.

A voice one could expect from a goblin.
