Another Stupid Isekai

Chapter 300

Chapter 300

I started my day with a bath, then went to the cafeteria to fill my stomach. While eating I focused on planning what to do throughout the day. Without Ki'rai I couldn't spawn bosses, but I for sure could get myself some crystals, and right now I needed plenty of points. There were so many things to improve.

The 'Psion' class skills needed testing, and some investments if they would prove to be useful. The 'Power of mind' and 'Focus' sounded most useful as they could potentially strengthen my resistance to mental attacks I was struggling the most with. I also needed other elemantalist classes, to have options.

I was particularly interested in 'Air elementalist' as I really needed a way to fly, at least a bit. The past month revealed a lot of weak points I had. There was also a 'Berrier maker' class which I wanted to upgrade, cause the skills were useful, and I ignored them for a very long time now.

I returned to my room, to pick up the equipment, and was welcomed by Ki'rai, sitting on my bed. Outlined by the dim light making its way to the room through the small space between the shutters.

- Hello Peter - she said with a smile.

- Hi Ki'rai - I couldn't help but do the same. - How was your travel?

- Good. But my masters told me to tell you that you should focus now more on gathering the crystals. More than half of the time passed, and you don't have even a single one stored for them - she got more serious telling those words.

I nodded slowly.

- I'll think about that, but for now how about you come with me, to meet my friends?

She was shocked. Her eyes got wide, and I saw her lips twitching as she tried to hold her smile.

- Now?

- Yes, now.

- O-ok - there was a note of excitement in her voice.

- You hungry?

- Y-yes.

- So how about I'll bring you some food first, and while you eat, I'll gather them, so you can meet them all?

She nodded. The mood was showing in her sharp moves. She really wanted to talk to those people, to become part of the gang.

I left her in the room and quickly came back with some tasty stuff. I picked only her favorites, to make the day even more special for her. There was some joy hidden in those gestures of kindness. They were making me happy.

After delivery I went to Hatta, to notify him first, then to Will, Nobuo, Boris, and Aisha. They all gathered in the Wuxia headquarters, and I went to sneak in Ki'rai in form of a chicken. We closed the doors and even told the guards to take a break from their duties.

They were all prepared. The room was bright with all the lamps. I noticed even some snacks prepared on the side.

- So guys... - I started as they all, gathered around me in the office, stared at the chicken kept under my arm. - This is Ki'rai.

I put her on the ground. She didn't transform at first, but instead turned around, to look at me. I didn't know if she was shy or overwhelmed by the situation. One thing was clear to me. She needed a bit of encouragement.

- It's ok. You can transform.

And she changed her form to the regular little lizard-like creature. Then she slowly turned around, which shyness emanating from her every move.

- Aww you so cute! - Aisha almost yelled out.

- It's nice to finally meet you - said Hatta, while extending his hand.

She observed them for a couple of seconds, then slowly grabbed his hand, and gently shook it.

- Can you speak? - asked Boris.

Even he had a hard time keeping his smile under control.

- I can - she responded.

- I'm Hatta. This is Boris, Will, Aisha, and Nobuo - he one by one introduced everybody to her. - How about you tell us something about yourself? We heard something from Peter already, but we are all still curious about you.

- Come, sit, and lest talk - said Aisha, and gestured towards the couch on the left side of the room.

Everybody went there, letting Ki'rei pick her spot first. Her eyes immediately went to snacks.

- Feel free to help yourself - said Will. - We prepared it for you.

Aisha took a spot in front of her. Hatta did exact same thing, while Boris nonchalantly sat next to my little lizard. Nobuo picked a place further to the right, between both of the groups. I and Will remained standing.

She took a small piece of dried peach, and slowly put it in her mouth. Aisha did just the same and smiled at her after.

- So? - asked Hatta. - How old are you, Ki'rai?

- I'm an adult. I'm the main scout in unit C - she said, but then she became silent.

I noticed a bit of regret in her behavior, as she just told something she wasn't supposed to. She then looked at me, like she was asking for help. I cleared my throat, catching the attention of others.

- She is really good at scouting. As you saw, she can transform.

- Is that something your species do? - asked Boris.

- No. There are a few, but I'm the best. I'm also the most experienced, as I used to look for crystals in the wastelands - her mood immediately shifted, and she started bragging.

- You mentioned unit... - Will started, but I kicked him in the foot, so he shut up, and instead looked at me. He cleared his throat then - So your so-called masters, they are Xuvi, yes?

She nodded.

- Yes.

- We heard from Peter that both your masters and he made some kind of deal. Could you shed some light on that? We already heard from Peter, but I, personally, would like to know your look on that matter - Hatta picked up the conversation.

- He is supposed to bring more crystals for research. I don't know anything more than that. I was actually told to remind him, as he didn't save any of them from his hunts during the past month.

- And who informed your masters about that? Was it you?

- Yes. I have to report on the progress of the mission and help him with matters related to the mission.

Hatta clearly wanted to extract the information about the passage of data from her. He probably was concerned mostly about the spying issue. I could understand his motives, but I also needed to be ready to stop him if he goes too far.. Xuvi shouldn't be alarmed needlessly, at least not yet.
