Chapter 671 Days UNKNOWN: The Clash Of Titans, Part IV

A ray of psychic powers, so concentrated, that it was able to cut anything in its way, got my weapon and almost my neck, but I managed to evacuate with a shadow walk. Then I had to run, as the High Queen's fury went after me. She began trashing everything in front of her, as she chased me.

I didn't notice it back then, but I was able to scratch her cheek a bit with my attack, which made her absolutely nuts.

It would probably end badly if not for a sudden Druoag's entrance. Speeding like a bullet, he leaped off the ground and rammed into her, sending her bubble away. She hit the ground, and bounced off, but was then able to catch herself inside the protective sphere.

Then ground under her split, and both halves, massive blocks of stone, slammed together, then crumbled around her, creating a ball of crushed rock, surrounding her like a prison.

It was The Great One's attack. He seemed to trap her inside, but only for a brief amount of time, so the two of us could retreat. She then broke off, sending the shards in each direction with a speed that would put hypersonic missiles to shame.

She screamed while doing it, and for the first time, we not only heard that in our minds, but also with our ears. What followed after, was the creation of another destructive sphere, which originated from her protective bubble and began expanding, destroying the planet's outer shell even more. It was very loud, deafening even.

We retreated as fast as possible. Druoag caught The Great One and did his best to get as far as possible.

- She is too strong! - I admitted, yelling because of all the noise.

With our speed, if not for our psionic friend and his abilities, we wouldn't be able to speak normally, but he made us able to do it, by controlling the pressure of the air around us, which was also making us faster, because we didn't have as much resistance.

- She is getting weaker. It's just emotions that are making her so powerful - said Druoag.

- I wouldn't be so sure - said The Great One. - Her powers are different from mine. Maybe the rage is fueling them even more.

- Peter managed to wound her - Druoag pointed out. - That's a sign of her getting weaker. We should keep pushing. Next time we might be able to finally get her.

- Well, we have no other choice anyway - I pointed out.

They both nodded, and we landed, a few a couple of hundred miles from the epicenter of the catastrophe. The distance made the wave weaker, and The Great One stopped it as he extended his hands.

- I'll pierce through, you attack from flanks - he instructed us.

Without a word, we rushed to opposite sides, just like he wanted us to. With the short distance between us, I was able to feel the tremendous telekinetic powers the alien psychic was gathering. Then, from a corner of my eye, I noticed as he extended his hand, and sent a beam, which popped the bubble.

At that moment I accelerated rapidly, breaching the barrier of sound, which produced a loud noise. It was the only one my ears caught, because of the speed I was running with, which made the two other ones, created by my companions, unable to get to me fast enough.

Positioned at the correct angle, I charged forward, hopefully heading straight at the High Queen. I had a little room to maneuver myself, but not too much. I soon gained a vision of her and changed the path a little bit. From the opposite side, Druoag was also charging, and we reached her more or less at the same moment. Both of us punched the shimmering sphere around Ixa.

The impact was tremendous. I could visibly see the condensed airwaves that were born from our fists colliding with the bubble at the same time. They cut the ground. The barrier, though, survived, and in a split second Ixa unleashed her anger at us, blasting us away.

I lost the kinetic energy of her shove by shadow walking to the side and immediately attacked again. Druoag, unfortunately, lacked such an ability and got sent flying, like a ragdoll.

I knew that my attack won't work if I was just gonna repeat the same thing I tried before, so I used a little trick. The punch seemed to be direct, but at the very last moment, I created a path for my hand and attacked from the opposite side. A little portal through The Void.

I actually managed to pierce through the bubble. Inside it, the psychic powers were so strong, so concentrated, that the whole power pushing my hand, despite being tremendous, was vanishing quickly. I almost reached her but got stopped maybe an inch from her body. I reacted by opening my hand, so I could grab her, but she stopped me.

Our eyes met briefly. I noticed the fury hidden behind hers. She was clearly pushed further than she expected and was now fighting for her life.

I didn't know if it was the strength of our attacks, that caught her off-guard, and pushed her to this state, or maybe it was the scratch I managed to inflict on her, but the result was clear. There would either be one, or three corpses after everything would conclude.

She had to realize that her previous attack was almost meaningless because she changed her approach. She suppressed my movement, catching me in a trap, but my body was very powerful, and such a thing required her to use a lot of her force. At the same time, she tried to penetrate my mind, but as soon as she attempted that, a loud scream of pain left her mouth, and the strong hold on me disappeared.

That was enough for me. I shadow walked away, and then rushed forward to get some distance between us.

I couldn't be the sole target of her anger, because that was too much for me to handle, so I needed somebody, at that moment, to take the baton from me, and make her busy, so I would be able to regroup.

I also dumped a heal into myself, as the struggle made me tear a few muscles, that's how badly I tried to free myself.
