Chapter 690 The Days Of New Beginning: Meeting With The Mother
With a loud ding, the musical torture came to an end, and the door of the elevator opened, revealing a wide space with a view over the city. It was filled with tables, chairs, and people. A lot of people. All clearly waiting. I noticed a few vending machines with snacks, and others with coffee.
At the end of the space was a short corridor, leading to a wide door. It was half blocked by a big desk belonging to a blonde secretary, who was sitting on an office chair behind it and glaring at the monitor of her computer.
She seemed to be working, but judging by the fact that nothing really was happening around, she probably was just pretending.
Tihana pulled me forward. I allowed her to, stepping accordingly to her speed, as she led me with confidence straight to miss receptionist - the second.
Some people, mostly in fancy suits, got interested in the sudden appearance of rugrats like us, and watched us closely, as we passed by them. The blonde didn't as she didn't even register us until we were right in front of her.
- Name? - she asked, and then finally raised her eyes to look at me.
I noticed a slight twitch on her face, as I wasn't really somebody she expected.
- Tihana - said my fake daughter before I was able to react.
- You have to wait. The boss is busy right now - she said to her, while still looking at me.
- But they called from the reception below, I'm sure he is expecting us even if he has a meeting - said Tihana.
- They spoke with me, and I only allowed this, because I know that the boss has a weak spot for you, girl. But don't push it - the blondie finally looked at my fake daughter instead of me. - And who is this guy?
- I'm nobody - I responded.
- Nobody? - she asked. - I was told that Tihana and Peter are coming, so I guess that's you?
I ignored her, and walked past her desk, making my fake daughter follow me, rather fast, since I surprised her with what I did, so she was slow to react and had to shorten the distance between us.
- Hey, you can't go there! - the secretary shouted, standing up from her chair, and making others, waiting for their turn, look at the fuss.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah - I said, ignoring her and still marching forward.
- I'll call security! - she warned me, but I was already at the door and opened it.
In a spacious office, Will was sitting behind the desk with some fat old man on the other side, telling him something. I didn't know really what it was, because he stopped as soon as the door opened, and turned around to look at the person who just barged in.
The room was nice. A desk, with a laptop, which I already mentioned. A bookstand filled with vinyl records on the left, covering the whole wall, with a stereo put in the very middle.
On the right was a sofa with two nice armchairs and a small coffee table. Behind it, in the very corner of two glass walls, with a view of the city below, was a standing hanger with a dark blue jacket put on it.
My friend was in full professional attire. Only the jacket over the white shirt was missing. His hair also changed, and now it was cut short, making him look more handsome. As he saw me, a massive smile crawled on his face.
- Who the fuck do you think you are? - I asked him keeping my expression angry. - You are making me wait to see you? What kind of mother are you?
He laughed out loud seeing me.
- That's a view I wasn't expecting. If I knew, my door would stay open - he explained himself.
- Who is that man? - asked the old guy.
We both ignored him completely. Will even left his chair and came out to me. Meanwhile, the secretary was standing behind me at the open door. Tihana stepped to the side to not stand in the way of two friends reuniting.
Shaking the hand of my long-standing comrade, after a long time of not seeing each other, felt really nice. He seemed to be stronger, as he attempted to squeeze my fingers. I did the same. I could easily humiliate him, by crushing his hand, but I didn't since it was not the correct place or time for such actions.
- Good to see you - he said to me, and I could see the tears gathering in his eyes. He managed to hold the emotions, though. - You've been through a lot, but now you are home.
- Yea, I'm home - I felt the same, although the control over my body was stronger, so I didn't allow myself to show even a tiny bit of what I felt at the moment.
- I want to hear all about it - said Will. - Every little detail, from start to the end.
- Sure. Dinner later? - I proposed.
- And a few drinks? - he asked in response.
- Sounds nice - I agreed. - Do you mind if I bring my daughter?
- No. Do you mind if I bring mine? - he asked.
I'm not gonna lie, I got surprised. My eyes probably got a bit wider after hearing what he said.
? - You have a daughter? - the sound of my voice definitely expressed how I felt, though.
- No - he said and shook his head with a straight face. - It was a joke, and I got you.
- You little shit - left my mouth, as I pulled my hand back.
He laughed at my words, and then returned to his desk.
- See you tonight - he said louder.
I nodded to that, letting go of the feeling of frustration he just caused me, then I turned around to see the blonde, still standing at the open door. I winked at her. For some reason, she took it like a slap to the face, as she took a few steps back, with a weird expression on her face. It made Tihana gigle. Well... She was giggling a lot during my short meeting with Will too, but she hid it well behind her hand.
Then we just walked out.
