Chapter 709 T.D.O.N.B: A Moment Of Happiness

- I should go - said Celestine, laying next to me, in my bed. - I don't want Tihana to see us.

She was naked, but slightly covered by the bed sheets. I, laying next to her, was looking at the ceiling, and thinking. My mind was very clear at that moment.

- There is no need. She will understand - I told her. - She probably suspected this could happen for a while. When you live on the streets, you learn quickly how the world works.

- Right... Sometimes I forget that she used to be homeless... - the brunette pointed out.

Then we both went silent for a few minutes.

- You said you will explain to me some things... - she pointed out, restarting the conversation. - But you did very little explaining.

- I did other things. Arguably better - I said and peeked at her.

A smile appeared on her lips.

- Arguably - she agreed.

Then I sighed, knowing that this might turn into tough talk.

- Who do you think I am? - I asked.

- You? That's a weird question... I don't know. Somebody influential, rich... Strong... One of the first hunters...

She started counting out.

- I'm much more than that - I pointed out.

- Yeah? I'm listening - she replied, and turned on her side, to look straight at me.

She had to support her head with her arm to have a good angle to stare me straight in the eyes.

- First of all, I'm a great lover.

My words made her laugh.

- Don't brag. You weren't that good.

- In the moment, I think you had a different opinion. Especially when you were screaming my name - I argued.

It made her puff her lips, as her face turned red.

- Ok, maybe you were that good - the said, and pouted.

- That's more like it - I said, and allowed myself to smirk a little.

Then I paused for a moment, gathering my thoughts, as I didn't really know what to tell her. Everything was definitely too much. But I also didn't want to hide things from her, since, I believe, I was in love with her.

- I used to be famous. Everybody knew me as the strongest hunter. I opened the portal back to earth. I even was fighting for the earth against the Dispurian empire representatives.

- No, you were not. I watched that on TV - she argued.

- I was there, but I didn't get to fight, because Will proved to be strong enough. I was the last card we had, but even if I were to fight, you wouldn't remember, because the High Queen wiped everybody's memories about me. So now nobody knows me, just a few people, to whom she unlocked those memories. I lost my identity - I explained.

She blinked a few times, having problems with wrapping her mind around what I just said.

- If you don't trust me, you can go, right now, to Will and ask him. He will tell you the same thing - I added. - It is true. This is my story. Well... A short version of it.

- So... You are one of the strongest people in Arc, if you really went to defend the earth back then, right? - she asked after another moment, as she began sorting the pieces of information I just gave her.

- I used to be the strongest. I basically straightened this damn city up, because there were a few idiots who tried to screw everybody here. There was a lot of weird stuff... Now I'm way beyond what I used to be. I hate that it sounds like bragging, but... That's the truth - I said, mostly looking at the ceiling.

As I finished speaking, I peeked at her. She seemed to be thinking about my words.

- So, you could help me with my back - she pointed out eventually, with a completely serious expression on he face.

- I could do it even right now, but you knew it since you saw this house - I pointed out.

She slowly nodded.

- Would you like me to? - I asked, and peeked at her again.

- No. If I can, I want to do it by myself.

- I knew that all along, that's why I didn't even offer - I confessed.

- But It would be nice to know that I have a backup plan if something happens, and I can no longer walk - She added then.

- I'll help you. All you need to do is ask - I said, and finally turned towards her, then pulled the bed sheets off one of her breasts, exposing a pink nipple.

It made her frown a bit, but the smile didn't go away from her lips.

- Is this the only thing you can think off? - she asked.

- Yes. Since I saw you in that blue dress, you are what I mostly think of - I said, making her bite her lower lip before she leaned forward to kiss me.

- It might be stupid, but when we met for the first time, I couldn't stop thinking about you too. You were like one of those knights in shining armor, who appears and sweeps the woman off her feet in romance novels. It's so embarrassing - she said, and turned on her back, covering her face with her hands.

- Yeah, it is - I agreed, and chuckled, which made her kick me with the back of her feet.

- I really should go - she then said and sat down in the bed.

I immediately looked at her back. Her porcelain-white skin, and the little bit of muscles underneath it, made her look so damn pretty, that I almost pulled her back to bed.

- Maybe Tihana can handle seeing us like this, but I'm not sure if I can handle it - she added.

Then she jumped out and started dressing. I watched her, admiring the beauty of her body.

- Pervert - she said after a moment, and threw my own hoodie at me, which she picked up from the floor.

Then she left.

I enjoyed the moment for a bit longer, smiling to myself, and looking at the ceiling. This was really something I needed. A short moment of happiness, a ray of hope, in the darkness of the news I received before.

The very darkness, I thought, I would have to face very soon.
