Chapter 335 Can't I Play With Your Guests?
Jovani's answer wasn't wrong, but it didn't give Samuel what he hoped for. It gave him even more questions he wanted to ask the other. Questions he didn't want to keep be putting off for one reason or another.
"How long until this will happen? I know the current situation creates a dilemma, but I imagine there are timeframes and rules to this type of thing." Jovani nodded his head thoughtfully before he stopped from the bed, cracking his neck before shifting his injured arm to prevent it from getting stiff.
"You're right; a few rules around this need to be followed. They don't quite apply to you as much as they do to other random people who want in. As you're the younger cousin of the boss over the Vedova Nera, more grace is given. Not to mention your ties with the Red Scorpions help as well." Sammy was lucky to be sandwiched between two of the most vital mafia families. Other people wouldn't have nearly as much protection as he did.
"It'll all happen in due time when it needs to. Considering everyone else hasn't arrived yet, we also have time to put some stuff off. I also need to ask Emily if she would be willing to help with this. We could use a few family members involved." The thought of planning everything gave him such a headache that Jovani decided once more to ignore it.
"Do you have a list of everyone that will be there? Like I asked before, people I should know or worry about offending. People like at the engagement party who are close to the family, and I wouldn't want to offend accidentally." Jovani got ready to answer a question when a set of sharp knocks broke the conversation.
"Hellooooo. I was told that I could find the two of you in here and was wondering if I might be able to intrude?" And the angel appeared. To Jovani, at least she was the angle at the current point in time.
"Emily! Perfect timing. You're more than welcome to come in and join us. I had just been talking about you." The door creaked open slowly as the amber-haired woman poked her head around the side.
"Whatever you were saying or thinking, I am already going to tell you that the answer is no. I'm done doing any more favors for you this month." Jovani offered her his best innocent smile as he motioned for her to enter the room.
"This favor wouldn't be for me. Instead, I would be asking if it would be possible for you to do something for Sammy here. We know we still haven't gotten to do that whole thing where we need to make him an official family member." Emily bobbed her head cautiously as she entered the room and shut the door behind herself.
"He's got quite a few questions I think you would be better at answering than me. All the same, rules don't apply to you the way they do to me. You're also going to be a necessary part of all this. Thus, I think it would be a great time for the two of you to get some bonding in, or whatever you want to call it." Maybe Emily would be able to go about planning everything for Jovani so he could take the time to breathe and focus on other things.
"And what am I going to be getting out of this deal? I don't mind helping your adorable cousin. I would love the opportunity to get to know him better. I still want something out of this, though." The petite woman crossed her arms as she fixed Jovani with a determined stare. She didn't want the Vedova Nera boss to offer her anything; she already had something she wanted.
"What do you want then? I can tell by that look you already have something in mind?" Jovani sighed and silently prayed that whatever the girl wanted this time wouldn't cause him to break the bank or make Alonso throw a more oversized fit than the right-hand man already had.
"Welllllllllll." Emily drawled the word out as a cute, playful smile spread across her face. Oh, dear.
"You see, I heard you brought some mercenaries to the estate. I haven't gotten the chance to see them yet, but I was hoping that there might be a chance I could have a little bit of fun. You know it has been quite some time since we last had some fun guests I could play with." 'Play with' made it sound far more innocent than what the woman meant. She must've been keeping it clear, for Samuel's sake.
"Are you trying to get me in trouble? You realize if you do something like that, you're going to be inviting a whole bucket of problems that I will have to clean up." Jovani would've crossed his arms if not for his injury. Emily pouted like a child being denied the right to the one toy she wanted.
"Oh, but you know that I wouldn't hurt anyone. Would it be just a bit of fun and games? They might even enjoy it if I ask them nicely. I heard one of them at least seems to have a sense of humor and enjoys a bit of fun." Had word already started to travel? Jovani shouldn't have been all that surprised since the estate was filled with nothing but gossip hounds.
"Can't you find something else to do that doesn't involve antagonizing my already unwelcome guests? You could ask for any other favor, and I would happily grant it in exchange for this." Emily's pout grew, her gaze shifting to Samuel, whose attention had been caught by their conversation.
"What if we ask Sammy what he thinks, and he can decide to play with your guests or not?"
Jovani could feel his head return full force when the other asked this question. This was starting to become too much.
