Chapter 100: Power Difference
When Liu Ye was about to leave the villa with Xu Yue and Zhenzhen, he was surprised to hear a buzzing sound of a helicopter close to the house. Sure enough, when they looked outside, they saw a VIP helicopter landing in their backyard.
"Come on! We don't have all day!" Avi yelled as she jerked the door open without waiting for the pilots to land properly. They didn't hesitate much and jumped inside after her.
Normal helicopters didn't have a lot of space inside but what awaited them was an exclusive interior with four spacious seats. One of the pilots even came out to help them with the baggage while the other set off as soon as the door closed.
"Whoa…" Zhenzhen muttered in amazement as she immediately looked through the window to watch the ground moving away. She took her first flight surprisingly well.
"Miss, if there is anything you need, let me know," the second pilot informed after securing all the bags and left them as he returned to the cabin. The inside immediately quietened down, allowing them to finally talk.
"That's a nice transport," Liu Ye commented, not expecting she could come up with an exclusive helicopter this fast.
"What, did you think our enemies are the only ones with money and connections?" Avi asked with a smile and reached out to grab a beer from the bar. "We have created Avatar Online which cost us billions. We naturally had to get our own sponsors. They might have the support of some governments but there are enough billionaires in this world for everyone."
"Hmm? Are you talking about Master Yang?" Xu Yue questioned confused and Liu Ye began explaining everything that happened earlier. Zhenzhen also neared her ear to listen but they didn't hide anything from her.
She was now more than involved so she deserved to know everything. When Liu Ye was about to reach the matter of his parents being alive, he paused and grasped Zhenzhen's hand.
"There is one more thing that we discovered and it could be one of the reasons why we are being targeted," Liu Ye informed and decided to just say it right away. "It's about our parents. It is not confirmed but that man said our parents are still alive and imprisoned by them."
Zhenzhen froze on the spot as if she couldn't register what he just said. "So they didn't die in a car accident…?"
"I really want to believe that is true but as I said, we don't know that yet. Miss Katherine is already working to find out the truth," Liu Ye said softly while caressing her palm. "I wanted to keep it a secret until I confirm it fully but you are old enough to handle it. Let's not be disappointed in case it turns out to be false."
He expected her to react emotionally but to everyone's surprise, Zhenzhen remained calm and mature as she nodded, "Mhmm, I appreciate it. Let's wait with the celebration till we can confirm it. I will not trust a single word of someone who just tried to kill you."
Her gaze was still filled with worry when she looked at him. Even if their parents came back to them, they would remain the most important person in each other's lives.
When Liu Ye continued and introduced them to their parent's potential backstory, Xu Yue couldn't help but frown. "It all doesn't make sense though. Why would they try to kill you if they wanted to convince your parents to cooperate."
"This is also why I'm not buying it," Liu Ye replied with a shrug. "Taking us hostage would be much better but Tian said it's the headquarters that wants me dead. The only thing that is special about me is my elemental potential but there should be thousands of players just like me."
He gazed at Avi and she nodded, "You are indeed not special when it comes to your potential but there is something else that could potentially happen."
She paused to take another sip. "Katherine wouldn't like that I'm telling you this but I'm guessing your parents discovered something using you as a test subject. The only way our enemies know about you is because your parents included you in their research and found something disturbing. I think they wanted to protect you which is why they destroyed everything and tried to run away but in the end they failed."
"So you are saying there is a big chance that Tian said the truth?"
"He died from the Spirit Curse so he really tried to join us. Why would he lie just to die?" Avi pointed out. "There is also no other way Master Yang would know about you if not for your parents so I think Tian was telling the truth. "
"Why would Katherine be mad at you for saying that?" Liu Ye questioned.
"Look, if my theory is correct, your parents must have discovered something about you that can threaten our enemy's plans. If that's the case, you can use it as leverage to get preferential treatment from our organization," Avi explained with a smug. "Your case is already our top priority but you can use this to your advantage."
She winked and added, "In any case, I didn't tell you that. You figured it out on your own."
By that time, they were already high in the air and their course stabilized as they flew outside the city. Even though they were safe, it wasn't the time to relax. Now that they awakened their Elements, they could only focus on getting stronger. They could always let a mysterious organization protect them.
"Hey, everything alright?" Liu Ye asked as he noticed Xu Yue's anxious expression. Zhenzhen looked the calmest of them all so he stopped worrying about her.
"I'm just wondering if my parents will become targets after we escaped," Xu Yue replied honestly. "They will naturally hide for the time being but they can't do that forever. We could clearly see that one Bender can do so much destruction and they didn't hesitate to kill people. What if—"
"That won't happen again," Avi cut her off. "We are quite sure that this incident only happened because they really wanted Liu Ye killed. Even though Master Yang is evil, it doesn't mean he will start killing civilians."
"How are you so sure?" Xu Yue questioned with raised brows.
Zhenzhen and Liu Ye only had each other but Xu Yue had a whole family behind her. Even though she wanted to get out, it didn't mean she would let anyone hurt them.
"Don't you think the world would already discover the presence of benders if those cases were common?" Avi questioned back. "It's our common interest to keep those matters secret. If the world learned the truth, people would begin to hunt for precious resources like Elemental Stones or Essence. It wouldn't be beneficial to both of our organizations."
She put her beer down and added, "Master Yang didn't use benders at first and only sent Tian after the mercenaries failed. Unless they can open the Spirit World and bring chaos to the world, they wouldn't want to risk exposing our common secrets. Even we are trying to be as secretive as possible but we are ready to accept some leaks in the process."
Liu Ye couldn't help but wonder as well. What was the difference in power between military and Elemental Bending?
"Now that you are saying this, it made me curious about a strength of a bender," Xuefeng pointed out curiously. "If you were to fight an army, how many soldiers would be enough to beat you?"
Avi momentarily laughed at his question and smiled mysteriously.
"If I trained you for a month, you would be able to destroy the entire city within a few minutes. You can imagine from there."
