Chapter 100: Elliot's arrogance
The onlookers could see dozens of teenage magicians duking it out on the arena, a scene far different, far less peaceful from when it was only Elliot against Linda and her friends. Swords and daggers clashed with each other, and at the same time, explosions of fire and wind seared the air. Wind fueled the flame, making them reach the sky.
The clouds above the emerald Mountain scattered, and even the dark skies got lit up by the flames.
Elliot, Theo, and John stood in the center of the arena, patiently waiting for the number of the participants to dwindle. The golden hand above their heads protected them from the shockwaves of the battles being taken place in the arena.
“Shouldn’t we be doing something?” John asked in a loud voice as the booming sounds of explosions, as well as the clanking sounds of swords clashing against spears, were coming from the surrounding areas and making it harder for one to hear words spoken out of another person’s mouth.
Elliot shook his head, an action he normally takes to decline with the words of another person.
“I don’t want to get in on the action as I am sure that the strongest people will eliminate all the participants until only their groups are left. Then, they will most likely group up to fight against our group. When that happens, I will take them down with one clean sweep.”
He said those words to them because he was confident that the groups led by Eliseo, Marshall, and the King’s Aid Warren, will do as he believes, which will only end up helping him by making winning this tournament not too tiring for him.
“You say it like it is going to happen no matter what. Why are you so confident?” Theo said while looking at Elliot.
“Haven’t you played any games? Even a level 100 character must group up with several other characters of the same level to take down the final raid boss. I am that raid boss. So, it’s obvious that our prideful but intelligent seniors will shamelessly group up before fighting me.”
“That indeed makes sense.”
As Elliot had showcased his powers by stopping Linda’s ultimate attack, a feat that none of the participants could perform, and even defeated Linda, the remaining participants had already considered him as the greatest threat.
Thus, Theo and John could agree that his words indeed made sense.
“Isn’t that more of a reason for us to do something right now and take down the strongest guys? That way, they won’t have the chance to group up against you. Besides, eliminating the strongest participants in this chaos will be easy.” John said.
“It’s a good plan, but there is no need to do that,” Elliot said in a calm voice.
“Why? Why don’t you want to make it easier for yourself?” John asked as he was unable to understand why Elliot has chosen to not take any actions against the ones.
“Because I am confident that I can defeat everyone on this stage even if all of them come at me at the same time,” Elliot said in a loud booming voice, one that the noises of explosions weren’t able to dampen even in the slightest, one that dampened the other noises!
He intentionally said out loud, not only because he wanted the others to hear his words, but also because he was so confident in his strength that exceeded the peak of the channel opening stage itself that he didn’t care about what other participants would think about him.
Nothing could trample his voice as he willed for it to be heard, as he wished for it to reach the ears of the onlooker.
His voice permeated the surrounding areas, spreading outwards, reaching everyone’s ears, almost getting infused with their minds.
When they heard his words, the eyes of the onlookers, participants, instructors, and even the Headmaster swirled with skepticism because they didn’t believe that a magician in the magical realm would be able to defeat so many magicians in the channel opening stage. They believed that he said those words after being consumed by arrogance and overflowing overconfident. There was no possible way for Elliot to realize his words, they believed. After all, a magician can not win against dozens of magicians who are a stage above him. There was just no way of that ever happening.
They thought that he had deluded himself by defeating Linda, nothing more, nothing less.
Yet, John Lisa and Theo thought differently.
They took his words with humility and believed that if it’s him, then he can surely defeat all the participants in the arena all alone.
After all, the three of them have watched in action, and they knew him that he could kill hundreds of enemies by himself, no defeat but kill!
They knew him, and thus, they understood why he is so confident.
Those who didn’t take him as an extremely arrogant person.
They weren’t to be blamed.
How could mete mortal understand the arrogance of a man destined to become a God?
Because of the words he said, the crowd took him as an arrogant brat.
The opinion of the crowd was divided in two by his words; one side believed that he would be able to do it, while the other believed that he would embarrass himself when the time comes.
Elliot knew many people were watching him at this moment, some were waiting to see his demise so that they can make fun of him, and the others were looking forward to seeing a miracle.
He decided that once they come for him, he will show them a miracle!
Around the three of them, eye-grabbing and fast battles were going on, ones that ended as fast as they started.
The freshmen were too weak to withstand the might of the second-year students, and they were the first ones to be eliminated.
After defeating the weakest participants, only the second-year students were left in the arena.
The groups made up of second-year students turned to look at each other, fighting intent blazing out of their eyes.
