Chapter 102: The three groups internal corruption!
After defeating several groups, Marshall, Eliseo, and Warren walked back to their teammates. The healers have healed all of the injuries of some of their members, but most of them were still bleeding, and they could also see that the healers weren’t even trying to heal them.
Eliseo, Warren, and Marshall were a bit confused by the lazy attitude of the healers, and they also wondered what had caused that to happen. So, to get answers to clear their confusion, they turned to their advisors, asking them about the main reason that led to the current situation.
“Vice leaders, come to the front!” Marshall said while looking at around twenty people who were sitting on the ground.
The moment his words landed in the ears of the members of their groups, three people stood up and walked up to him.
“Leader, why have you called us? May I ask, is there something wrong?” One of the three asked while looking at Warren with a gaze of respect.
“Can’t you see what’s wrong? Why aren’t the healer doing anything to help Aaron, Griffith, Ewan, Francis, Connor, Cole, Rory, and Turner? They are injured, and if they fight like that, their injuries will just worsen! We even told you guys to heal them up before we return. Why hadn’t it be done so? Is it because the healers are in a bad mood that they refuse to heal others?” Marshall said in a voice filled with displeasure as the members of their groups have failed to do even the simplest of things he and his equally powerful friends had ordered them to do.
“Leader, it’s not like that. The healers were doing their best, but they ended up straining their supernatural cells. So, fearing that they might end up disintegrating their supernatural cells, I ordered them to stop healing the others and take a rest. After that, I wanted to tell the injured ones to go off stage, but I was waiting for your decision.” The Vice Leader of Marshall’s group spoke up in an anxious voice to defend the healers.
If a magician overuses their supernatural powers, the supernatural cells in their bloodstream get strained. If they still use their power, then they start to disintegrate, leading to a major or minor collapse in their bodies. The first one usually ends up in a magician losing their supernatural powers, which they can recover from by devouring evolution materials, but suffering a major collapse means the destruction of one’s energy channel as well as the loss of one’s ability to contain magic energy in the body, which means becoming a mortal. Something not different than a cripple in the cruel and biased eyes of the magicians.
That’s why the three leaders have always collaborated before going out in the wilderness to hunt. Since hunting alone meant overusing their superpowers.
“Wait, wait, wait! Strain?! How did that happen?” Marshall’s eyebrows raised, and Eliseo and Warren also felt a bit taken aback by his words.
They were surprised. Why wouldn’t they be? They hadn’t gone out to hunt for an entire week, so no one should have gotten hurt in the last several days. That should mean that the healers haven’t put their superpowers to use for seven whole days. The healers only used their superpowers in this tournament. That little amount of usage isn’t enough to cause a strain! So, why are the healers’ supernatural cells strained?
“I am to blame for that. I let Elsie, Rose, Brooke, and Palmer, these four girls to tag with me and hunt monsters in the wilderness. We encountered a demonic beast, and to hunt it down, we were injured severely. Though, we managed to hunt it down. For the past three days, they have been healing us nonstop. That’s why today we are in a condition to fight. Please don’t blame them. It’s all my fault.” Stefan said.
“Good! Good!” Marshall sarcastically said, “Unauthorized use of the healers of our groups, putting their livelihood and lives as magicians at risk, hiding things from your superiors, all three of them goes against our rules and are major crimes. Tell me, what should I do with you?”
“It wasn’t only him.” Arjun, the Vice Leader of Warren’s group, said taking a stand beside his Stefan. “If you want to punish someone, then please punish me.”
“So, you are also in this,” Marshall said with a sarcastic laugh, feeling nothing but anger boiling up inside him.
“You both shouldn’t take the hit for me.” David, the vice leader of the last group, suddenly said, “I was the one who told them about the place where the demonic beast lives, and I am the one who took them there. If anyone is to be blamed, then it should be me. If I wasn’t greedy for the body parts of the tailed-bone beast then this wouldn’t have happened.”
The commotion had attracted the rest of the members, and the healers have stepped up to defend the vice leaders as they feared that Marshall would punish them harshly.
“Silence!” Marshall said, and the crowd instantly shut their mouths.
He wanted to scold them all, but Eliseo stopped him.
“Now’s not the time for this.” He said, reminding him that their main priority is Elliot.
“Hmph! Do whatever you want with them. I am tired of this shit.” Marshall angrily stomped his foot on the ground before turning his back towards the rest of the members and walking a few steps away.
The healers and the vice leaders could feel that he is disappointed with them, and they felt sad as they never wanted that to happen.
“Umm, are we going to be punished?” The three vice leaders and the healer looked at Eliseo and Warren, waiting for them to enact the punishment they deserve.
“We aren’t going to punish you. At least, not now. So, just don’t think about it.” Eliseo said with a smile.
“Thank you for your generosity, Second Leader.” The three Vice Leaders and the four healers saluted him respectfully.
After that, Warren told the members who could still fight to accompany them in going against Elliot, and he told those who were in no condition to fight to get off the arena and get first aid from the staff members of the Academy.
An instant hearing his words, the students who were bleeding from a lot of places respectfully bowed towards them, expressing deep regret because they weren’t in any condition to fight and have failed their leaders. Then, they left the stage, the healer included.
The three leaders took the remaining ones towards the center of the arena where Elliot, Theo, and John were patiently waiting for them.
Elliot, who was sitting on the ground with legs crossed and eyes closed, heard the sound of footsteps coming towards him, and his eyes snapped open.
“Finally done chatting, eh? Good! Let’s fight. All of you come at me together! I will defeat you guys without using my hands or my feet. If you manage to force me to use even one of them, then it’s my loss! If you manage to push my back by even a single step, then it’s also my loss.” Elliot said in an extremely arrogant tone as he moved his hands behind his back and rested his feet against the ground, showing them that he is as serious as they come.
“Fucking arrogant piece of shit!” After they heard his words, that’s the only thought that popped up in the mind of the three leaders, the three vice leaders, and the seven members of their groups.
