Chapter 112: The Academy Stand

It took a few minutes for him to hand out the rewards to the top fifty participants.

“Parents and the representative sent by the parents of the top fifty participants, please make your way to the stage.” Instructor Leonard announced.

Before the tournament started, the academy had called the parents or guardians of all the students to come to the academy for some purpose. They also told them that if they can’t afford to come today, then they should at least send a guardian that can make important decisions for their children in their place. The parents who had free time had attended the tournament. While those who couldn’t make it in time, they sent a trustworthy person in their stead.

“Why are we being called on stage?”

“Who knows? Anyway, we will know once we are there.”

The ones who were called felt a bit bewildered, but they still stood up from their seats and went towards the arena.

“Eh, what’s he doing here?” Elliot’s eyes widened when he saw Charles walking up the stage. Charles smiled towards him and waved his hand. Elliot responded with a nod of his own.

Then, Elliot caught the sight of a familiar figure in his eyes. “Eh, elder magician is also coming on stage! Is he related to someone here?”

Elliot looked here and there with a scrutinizing gaze, trying to look for someone who shares similarities with the elder magician, be it in looks or ability. He used his godly right eye to obtain information about them.

After he gained the information of all the students and compared them with the information about the elder magician, he found out that the only person with the highest chances of being related to him was none other than his childhood friend!

“Master Seer is either his father or grandfather. That’s probably the closest to the truth assumption I can make with the information I obtained by using my eye.”

While the parents were gathering in the arena, a few staff members also came on stage. Each of them was holding several magic contracts in their hands.

“Distribute the magic contract among them,” Instructor Leonardo said, signaling the staff members to give one each to the parents and guardians of the students.

“Yes, sir!” The six beautiful staff ladies nodded their cute heads. Then, they moved their petite bodies and gave a magic contract to each of the adults here.

“What is this?”

“Why are you giving us a magic contract?”

“Is there a reason behind this?

The parents and guardians of the students wondered the reason behind their actions. Were they called here to give a pledge? Or is it something entirely else? Just what’s going on?

“We are equally as clueless about it as you are.”

“We don’t know anything about it.”

“Sirs and madams, please be patient.”

“The instructor will explain everything in a while,”

“Your patience will be greatly appreciated.”

“Sorry for any inconvenience.”

The staff ladies respectfully said as they handed out the magic contracts. In a while, they finished giving one to each of the adults.

To clarify the situation to them, instructor Leonard said, “As you already know, the top fifty participants of this tournament are given a chance to explore the newly discovered settlement. However, that place is bound to be full of dangers, and the chances of them dying is also pretty high. We have already given them a life-saving treasure, but it doesn’t entirely ensure that they will make it out in one piece. That’s why we won’t be taking them to that place unless you, their parents, and guardians sign the magic contract. It states that in case of injuries and death, the academy won’t be held responsible. All responsibility will fall on your shoulders.”

The people understood what he was trying to convey. The academy didn’t want others to come after them to take revenge for their sons and daughters who might die while exploring the settlement, and thus, they took such a stance.

They had taken a step back and showed the others that they weren’t forcing anyone to head towards a dreadful place.

The ones who will be sending the students there will be none other than their parents. Therefore, whether they die or not, the only ones their relatives could blame were their parents.

“What a sly fox.”

The parents and guardians of the top fifty participants looked at instructor Leonardo, thinking that this person sure came up with a good trick to put all the blame on their heads.

Instructor Leonardo stood there in silence with his arms crossed before his chest as he looked at them with an attentive gaze.

Noticing that most of them were hesitating, he said, “We have already done our best by giving each of them a hard-to-make treasure. The rest is entirely up to you. If you want to send your children to the settlement, then please sign the magic contract. If you don’t want to send your children there, then we will respect your decision. If you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to ask.”

A middle-aged man raised his head to look at him, then asked, “How long till you depart for the ancient settlement?”

Instructor Leonardo turned his gaze towards him and replied, “We will go in an hour.”

“I also have a question.” A man around his forties asked, showing clear signs that he was suffering from nervousness.

“Please don’t hesitate to say it.” Instructor Leonardo said with an amiable smile on his face.

“Will my three children get to keep the life-saving item even if they don’t participate in the exploration?”

At his question, the instructor couldn’t help but laugh a little.

“Haha, mister, you don’t need to worry about it. We won’t snatch back what’s been given.”

“Great! Great! Kids let’s go back.”

The man couldn’t afford to lose his children, and thus, he declined the academy’s invitation to explore the settlement with unknown dangers.
